let's talk about the Black Friday Madness for a second. Everywhere you look right now, discounts bundles, limited offers, countdown timers, urgency everywhere. Listen, I love a good deal as much as anyone, but before you open up your wallet this weekend, I want you to hit pause and ask yourself one simple question, have you shopped your own business first? Because the truth is, most entrepreneurs don't need another course, another system, or a shiny new thing. They actually need to use what they already have. I'm Cindy Gordon and you are listening to The Overwhelmed Entrepreneur Podcast. Before we dive in, if you are not on my email list yet, where I share weekly productivity and business mindset tips. Link in the show notes to join 1500 other entrepreneurs who receive my weekly newsletter. Today I am sharing a mindset shift that helped me stop chasing new solutions and start maximizing what I already own. So let's be honest, black Friday can mess. With your head, you start the day just looking around, and by noon you've convinced yourself that five new tools and three new courses are missing pieces that will finally fix everything in your business. This is a recurring theme that I see year after year. My clients tell me that they keep buying courses, templates, and systems, but nothing sticks. Not because the products are bad, but because they're already overwhelmed with what they haven't finished yet. The reality check is you probably already own gold that you're not using. You got a half finished template sitting on your drive. You've got systems that worked once but got forgotten. You have ideas that were never fully launched because life got busy. That's the problem. Not that you don't have enough, it's that you haven't leveraged what you've already invested in. We chase novelty because it feels like progress. Buying something new gives you a little dopamine hit that says I'm doing something. It tricks your brain into believing that you are moving forward even if you haven't implemented the last thing that you bought. It's not a flaw, it's just simple psychology. Our brains are wired to seek new information and new solutions. That's why Black Friday marketing works so well. It triggers that novelty seeking behavior and adds urgency on top of it. If you're constantly buying new solutions without maximizing old ones, you are renting progress instead of building it. You feel busy and productive because you're learning and buying, but your business actually isn't growing because nothing gets fully implemented. The truth is simpler here. You don't need more stuff. You need to use what you have. I feel like I sound like my mother here, but it's true. This is in life and in business. So before you go spend money on anyone else's Black Friday deal, I want you to take 30 minutes and do what I call a shop your own business. First, I want you to take inventory of your digital closet. Go through every tool template course or coaching program that you've purchased. Ask yourself three questions. What have I actually finished? What still has value that I could revisit? Could I reuse, repurpose, relaunch this month? You'd be amazed at how much potential you actually have just sitting right there. Then you need to reactivate what works. Dust off the good stuff. Maybe you've got an old lead magnet that still gets downloads. Update it and repromote it. Maybe you wrote a killer email sequence last year, tweak the dates and rerun it. Maybe your system worked fine until you got distracted. Bring that back up again. You don't need to start from scratch. You just need to start again. I want you to invest intentionally. Once you've done your inventory, then decide what you actually need. Ask yourself, will this fill a real gap, or is it just feeding my fomo? If it aligns with your goals for the new year, great. If it doesn't close that tab and keep your focus on execution, this isn't missing out. This is maturing as a CEO. Let me show you how to actually shop your own business on Black Friday. Let's get real specific. Let's do it now together. Set a 30 minute timer right now before you go by anything this weekend, spend those 30 minutes auditing what you have. Open your Google Drive. Log into those courses. Look at your unused tools. Make a list of what's sitting there, just waiting to be used. Then pick one thing to finish before you buy a new thing. Just one. Maybe it's that course you bought last year. Maybe it's the template you downloaded but never customized. Maybe it's the system you started, but abandoned it. Commit to finishing one thing before adding something new. Then. Create a Black Friday wait list. Not a wishlist, but a wait list for anything that catches your eye. Don't buy it immediately. Write it down. Give yourself 48 hours if you still want it. After you've shopped your own business and it truly fills a gap, then consider it. Chances are, once the urgency wears off, you'll realize that you actually don't need it. If you take one thing away from our conversation today, I want it to be that you are probably already sitting on the exact thing that you're searching for. Your next big win might not be in someone else's Black Friday sale. It might be in the resources you already invested in but haven't fully used. So before you swipe that credit card this weekend, remember this. Invest in yourself, not your impulses. Shop your business first. You have worked too hard to forget how much value you've already built. So here is your quick Black Friday action plan. Spend 30 minutes auditing what you own. Pick one thing to finish before you add anything new. Create a wait list for tempting offers and give yourself a window of 48 hours before purchasing if you want a community that will help you actually use what you got. And make it work smarter.
