Ep 18 - Your best years are the ones ahead.
Have you ever wished you were younger again? Many people do. However, in my case, that would NOT be a good idea. Because where I’ve gotten to now has been hard-won by time, experience, and masses of learning and change. I do not want to have to go through it again!!
And I really like where I am now; who I am now. Going back would only feel like reversing time without any associated benefits.
No, the experiences, memories, lessons, insights and wisdom gained are worth too much. Like finding treasure, now that I’ve found them I don’t want to give them up.
In this episode, we talk about the sense that many people over 50 have discovered; that your best years are not behind you at all. Your best years and the ones ahead.
The question simply is, what will you do with them?
Duration 6mins 55s
Key Points
- Young people have difficulty imagining being older.
- Older people sometimes wish they were younger.
- Many people in midlife or slightly later find renewed clarity, vision and freedom.
- The Good Life isn’t really about money and things.
- Time marches relentlessly on so we need to consciously choose what we’ll do with it.
Worth repeating
“Now that I am over 60, I feel neither old, stale, nor conservative. I’d have to say that my experience of life now is among the best I’ve ever had.”
