Rob's latest AI obsession has taken an unexpected turn... into the kitchen. 🍔🥪 After freeing up time through automation, he's on a mission to become the "Sandwich King" and create the ultimate family signature sandwich.
But that's only the beginning.
Rachel and Rob dive into:
• Why one simple text that says "Sure" can be taken the wrong way
• The psychology behind putting your phone face down at dinner
• Why some cultures seem to embrace their stereotypes while others don't
• Expensive sandwiches that inspired homemade creations
• Social media, relationships, and the messages hiding in plain sight
• Would you let your significant other read your texts for $1,000?
As always, the conversation starts in one place and ends... well... somewhere completely different.

Is "Sure" rude... or are people reading too much into it?
Welcome to Out Loud with Rob and Rachel. This is what happens when two ADHD brains come together and think out loud.
SPEAKER_00Hey everybody, thanks for tuning in again to episode 35 to the Out Loud Podcast with Rob and Rachel.
SPEAKER_03Hi.
SPEAKER_00How you doing?
SPEAKER_0335. That's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_0035.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I remember when I was 35. I was good age. I was broke though, but it was good age.
SPEAKER_03I'm trying to think back. 35 I was living. Not here. Um 35, I yeah. I was living through my 30s. No. Yeah, 30s. My 30s, I actually really liked.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03After not my 30s, I shouldn't say that. After 35 to 40-ish were really good for me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like socially, yeah, uh professionally, all of that.
SPEAKER_00I was like third year into my business, so it's like I was still growing pains.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I can imagine that's trusting.
SPEAKER_00But um that's not what we're talking about today. What are we talking about today?
SPEAKER_03We're talking about the fact that you with your AI whole Yeah. I don't even know what to call it.
SPEAKER_00Right. Obsession, um uh intellectual curiosity.
SPEAKER_03Um whatever yes, whatever it is, has freed you up to become Bobby Flay.
SPEAKER_00Bobby Flay.
SPEAKER_03I I make my Bobby Flay of Jersey.
SPEAKER_00I make my family call me the uh sandwich person.
SPEAKER_03Sorry, the sand. Is there a sandwich person? Is there somebody out there that's known for sandwiches?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. They became more popular though, more than like a sub show.
SPEAKER_03Like I know that like Barstool, he's he's good. Dave Courtnoy, he's like a pizza person. Is there somebody who who who like moves around and does sandwiches?
SPEAKER_00There used to be here and there, actually. I don't care. No.
SPEAKER_03Uh uh I do like a Guy Fieri uh diners, whatever, drives and dives and drive-ins or whatever that's called.
SPEAKER_00Uh uh something like I don't care, brushy hair. That was his type, is a he plays the typical Italian stereotype. And uh and he used to go go like he just has a weird name, like uh I don't know.
SPEAKER_03It's but he's a guy who's sandwich reviews?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. He'll he he would just like you know eat him in his car, like catch up coming down his face, and you know, it was just like talking with his mouth open, but it he played the typical Italian stereotype. And that's what that's the one thing I love about Italians in general. They're stereotypes with other cultures when when you stereotype them, they get upset. The Italians they don't get upset.
SPEAKER_03I know they love it.
SPEAKER_00They're proud of it, absolutely, which is so powerful, and it's pretty refreshing, it is right.
SPEAKER_03Like, I mean I don't mean that people should stereotype and think it's fine and okay, but um they're proud of they see that in themselves. I don't they don't look at it as a bad thing, right? Like it's a it's a badge of honor, actually, I think.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I think I think it's cool. I was thinking we had a discussion yesterday that I won't reveal, but one thing I realized about myself is like I'm a mutt. You know what I mean? Like like I don't have anything where I'm proud of my culture. I'm not very religious, I'm not like this proud Christian or Catholic, and even if you are, that's like white supremacy now. But anyway, but you know what I mean. Yeah, yeah, you know, like like there's nothing to I don't have to label you, like categorize you, right? Like being like 90% Italian, you got that, or or Greek, like the Greeks are very proud people. Very even the Coptics, you know, like I go to these Coptic affairs, like at the end.
SPEAKER_03I actually think it's beautiful. I beautiful. It is like that sense of community where it's just like you know there's always going to be somebody there to lift you up if you need it. Like that's that I think is lacking in the back areas.
SPEAKER_00I guess the festival at the Coptic Church. Like I I see everybody sitting around and it's like it's like you don't even have to know each other. No, you know, it's just and it's it's the same with like with the Russians in our town. Like we have a lot of Russians in our towns, and when like we have a Russian neighbor, when another Russian moves in, it's just like that immediate, like Yes. You know what I mean? That that bonds.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I agree.
SPEAKER_00You can do no wrong and uh it's interesting. Yeah, yeah. Like when you're a mutt, you don't there's there's not like I don't have any of that. I wish I did. Cause I because I would play that role. Right. Like if I was Greek.
SPEAKER_03You would embrace it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if I was Greek, I'd be like the head of the community. I would be over the top. Yeah, yeah. I would have fun. I would have fun with that.
SPEAKER_03You would probably be the guy that everybody could depend on, like doing the barbecuing ones on the weekends. I was you would be that person. That's very cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. But I don't I don't have any of that.
SPEAKER_03I don't have like I actually think that's I think that's sad that it's lack I I don't know. I guess what I'm trying to say is I think it's sad that you have to belong to one of those types of communities in order to be able to like why isn't our community as a whole enough to to grasp that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because I just don't think it's naturally too diverse.
SPEAKER_03It's too like it's those similarities that bring people together, right?
SPEAKER_00It it it does, like you know, we we have to tie the binds. We we have these discussions, and I think sometimes that that it's uh it's not politically correct to say, but you know, uh society has tried to make that diversity or strength. But similarities really are strength, meaning like um, you know, when everybody um you you can have different backgrounds and everything, but you still have to have similar belief systems, and sometimes each culture has their own belief system of how things should be. And when there's a lot of conflict in that, not everybody can handle that as well. Yeah, you can't get past it, which I understand. So I mean that's why in the old days, like even in Jersey, you know, Saraville was in a like the Polish community, and you had the Russians communities, and you had the South River's now is like a Portuguese community, and you know, there's and during the World Cup when we were accepted in your own country. Yeah, when like when the World Cup and Portugal was doing well a f uh years ago, um South River was wild. Yeah, the I mean that like as an American voting for America, like I love seeing that. Like, right, like yeah, it's beautiful to see people supporting their, you know. Um I don't know. Like I don't have any of that. I don't I don't have any of that.
SPEAKER_03I don't even remember how we got out here. Oh, because of the AI and you started making sandwiches.
SPEAKER_00This is out loud. This is what we do, baby.
SPEAKER_03I'm because uh that's what I was I wasn't spacing out. I was actually sitting there while you were talking trying to figure out what our original point was so that we could get back to it. And it was sandwiches. So okay, I think you're absolutely right. I think there is a need to celebrate your community and your I that's I I'm I'm sad for you that you don't you can always join many communities. You you can. You're actually a very open-minded way.
SPEAKER_00Not everybody, not everybody would say that about me.
SPEAKER_03I know they not everybody would. You're absolutely I I agree with you on that. However, I think that you are, and you're willing to try new, like you'll go places off the beaten path way before I would. Yeah, I think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um but but back to what we were talking about. So Rob has found himself with an abundance of free time on the latter part of the day.
SPEAKER_00Right, latter part of the day, right? Yeah, that's a good way to put it.
SPEAKER_03Um, and you've been filling it with being the the dinner maker in your family. And the funny part about this, can I just preface? I am the only the my mother cooked for us. We had dinner, like my mother was the dinner on the table. We waited for dad. We didn't eat until the father got home.
SPEAKER_00Which I like.
SPEAKER_03Uh me too. And I actually tell you, uh, we have dinner together, even since my kids were born, almost every single night. It's a thing. My mother lives with us, it's the four of us. Um but I'm the cook, I'm the chef in the family most of the time. I am the decider of what you know we're having for dinner. I'm a good cook. I'm not fabulous. I can cook some things really well. My biggest problem is what do I cook?
SPEAKER_00No, I got that.
SPEAKER_03I am like I go blank.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I'm psyched that you are entering into this realm because I feel like you're gonna inspire me to think outside the book. Right, right, right. That's the big thing. I asked Rob just before we were going, and I told him, it's very funny because we often start conversations often. We're like, hold on, don't talk. Let's start taping. Yeah. Because they're really good conversations. So I asked Rob, what have you been making? And now finished with the sandwich.
SPEAKER_00Well, the the goal is to uh I want to come up with a family signature sandwich. Right, right. So that's the goal. So I asked my son Jake, you know, if he wanted to, because he's more likely to do stuff like that, you know, and he's like, Yeah, maybe, you know, like we can test it and try to master the sandwich. So that's that's where it's going. That's not where it started. So it started like not that's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_03Let's talk about that afterwards. But okay, it started.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so so uh it started uh you introduced me to that place in the old bridge shop.
SPEAKER_03So there's a new place in the shops at Oldbridge called Phil and Chino, but they actually started in Staten Island. Yeah, apparently.
SPEAKER_00They're a red bank, there's like five locations.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the owner is very nice. He walks around.
SPEAKER_03That's the father. Right. There's sons that owns it.
SPEAKER_00But he's great.
SPEAKER_03They're amazing, they're very nice people. Yeah, yeah. So they just opened. I went there first, and I had their hot honey. It was like hot honey vodka sauce rice balls, and with mozzarella melted on top. So I I mean I could like drink the sauce. So that's when I said to you go there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, then I went there. I I got into the sandwich camp just a little bit before. I I I I you know, I bought prime rib and and made some steakums with you know, like old school Philly cheesesteaks with cheese whiz and all that. But then uh then when I went there, I was like, oh, they're they're they made their bread like a garlic bread. Uh I was like, oh, alright, that's that's something I've Is it the do they um yeah is it panini-ish?
SPEAKER_03Is it a hot sandwich that you got from there?
SPEAKER_00No, no, it was just like uh So how does the So it just seems like they just how I did it and it came out good. I just bought chopped garlic, and no butter on the bread, and I just smoothed it all out and I baked it.
SPEAKER_03You baked the bread.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what they did. They baked the bread.
SPEAKER_03So it's hot. The bread comes out hot, but not the sandwich.
SPEAKER_00No, it all comes out because it's a chicken cutlet sandwich.
SPEAKER_03But is it's not like sm it's not like a panini press like kind of thing. No, it's not see I don't like the panini thing because then it gets oily and it's all over you and it's gross. But you're saying it was just a chicken.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but it but it was that like that next level of oh, right. I mean, it's so obvious. So I so I made last night's sandwich like that. Okay. And it was just uh chicken cutlet, balsamic glaze, um mozzarella, and tomato. And uh balsamic glazed. You can wrap it with Persuit though. I didn't want to I I don't I don't want to make sandwiches into a hundred dollar meal, you know, at some point, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03So right. And also, I mean, uh that's fantastic, but then you're adding extra calories. Like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I feel like that's like does it is it's I I only eat one a day, so um right now, so I can afford the calories right now. Okay, but like I'm so focused on a sandwich, I'm not even making sides as much as I used to eat.
SPEAKER_03So then we talked about, I said, well, what did you have on the side? Because I am a sides person.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I got you.
SPEAKER_03I when I eat need more than one thing to focus on. I need to take a break from the main attraction and then sort of, I don't know, maybe have a little salad or like um some rice or potato, whatever might be. I need a side.
SPEAKER_00No, I gotcha.
SPEAKER_03So you said you didn't make any size.
SPEAKER_00No, I mean a couple of times I did, but um I don't know if the kids are size people appreciative enough to spend that extra time, right? Okay. So what I'll do, I'll make a sandwich and a half or like I'll make that extra sandwich. Like so it's it's more about food intake, I think, for some boys and me. You know what I mean? Yeah, you know, yeah, where Gina, when she cooks, Gina's an excellent cook, and um she mastered like the one pot meal. So the potato, like she mastered That's unbelievable.
SPEAKER_03See, I would love to speak to her about that for a while.
SPEAKER_00So you put it in your mouth and you're everything explodes.
SPEAKER_03One bite.
SPEAKER_00Right, yeah, and it's just And everything is in the one bite.
SPEAKER_03It's fucking good. Like what? Like tell me something that she puts in a dish, one dish. Is it like rice and chicken and vegetables?
SPEAKER_00Like sometimes potatoes and chicken and uh yeah, just like rice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, everything it's just and then what is like do you just serve it like right? Just come oh in the you just throw it all in a bowl and then it comes to you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, it's but it's really good. Like she she does a lot of things like that. Like most of the things like that. So she cooks most of the time in the uh a lot of times in the winter. Then when it gets warmer, I like to take over and give her a break. The barbecue outside so much easier, less massive.
SPEAKER_03It's and it smells less like.
SPEAKER_00And I have a barbecue and a flat grill, so I can do a lot of different things now.
SPEAKER_03Um Rob's changing his backyard also into quite the oasis, he told me. It's another dopamine um project that you took on, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, just a deck. I told Chad I just want to make it ridiculous. Ridiculous. Like ridiculous. I just want to make it like when people walk out, like, what the fuck? This guy has too much time on his hands. Like that, like I that's what I say. It's like that's the goal.
SPEAKER_03Where are you happy with what chat gave you?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Did it go over the top? Yeah, it went over the top.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, with like privacy walls, lighting.
SPEAKER_03It went with uh are you following it's you take it, yeah, eventually, yeah. Um and it gave you, I'm sure it gives you the things to buy too. Like that's the great thing.
SPEAKER_00The dune grass, like fake dune grass outside to to to to block the air conditioning unit. Like the air conditioning unit. Yeah, like stuff like that.
SPEAKER_03I know I shouldn't ever complain about that because there are many people in this room who don't have air, but I have to tell you, I love my patio back. But my air conditioning unit is so loud, it really affects the quality of the outside.
SPEAKER_00I might even put a TV outside. That's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_03We couldn't listen to it. I would have to turn the air off.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so uh yeah, but uh so with the sandwiches are a lot of fun because it's something to uh hyper focus on again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so okay, so then you mentioned that you want to do like a signature sandwich.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03How are you gonna go about are you gonna do a whole bunch of different sandwiches and then do like a family taste test rating system?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I mean I I want to do it in a way that uh I'm not reading too much information, just stuff that I like. So of course, like uh I I forgot to do it yesterday. So the chicken cut cutlet sandwich, I was supposed to, uh but I forgot I was supposed to do caramelized onions with it. Just to try it, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Like caramelized onions are a next level. Right, yeah.
SPEAKER_00They are a new I've been making it for other things for the cheesesteaks. I just I just forgot to. Well on a cheesesteak.
SPEAKER_03It's an it's it's a it's see, for me, I don't love the peppers on a cheesesteak. I would much rather douse that with on with cheese. Yeah, yeah, that's what I did. I didn't do any peppers. Throw them all in. I would I'm I'm all in.
SPEAKER_00So um I'm not quite there yet with what to do, but I I I do like uh the chicken cutlet start of it all. I did it last week I did chicken cutlet with like vodka sauce, like because that's popular. Yeah. And that was good. That was good. But um, I have some idea.
SPEAKER_03I throw in birata in there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, that's what I mean. Exactly what I mean. Different things.
SPEAKER_03You can get Aldi, Aldi, whatever that, however, whoever you pronounce that, whatever it's called.
SPEAKER_00Um sandwiches are popular now. Like Aldi is not sub shops.
SPEAKER_03In the that you can buy in the tubs and you can just slice it and throw it right on top, or even just open it up and put the burrata filling on your sandwich.
SPEAKER_00But but but going back to like AI automation and all that stuff, but this is what it's I I think the true intentions is to free you up with other stuff.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I have to tell you, I literally go to Chat G P my kids laugh at me because I go to Chat GP and I say to ChatGPT, give me the easiest recipe with these ingredients that I'm staring at in my fridge right now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And it will give me the recipe for it. The only problem that I find with some of those recipes when you're finding when you're following them is that like you need like one little thing of something that you have none of, and then you buy it, and then you have a whole bottle of something and you don't need it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. That annoys me. Yeah, I know, I know.
SPEAKER_03I don't have the space for 50 million different condiments.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but um, yeah, so I'm looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_03All right, that's what else besides sandwiches have you made? Oh throw some other things at us, give the viewers what they want.
SPEAKER_00So be before kids, and probably up until my kids were five, I was the better cook than Gina. And she would admit that, right? All right, then I don't know what the hell happened. She got on Instagram, that's what happened. And and or whatever.
SPEAKER_03Like she got on there's the power, and it's just either when it comes to now.
SPEAKER_00She just blows me. Like, she really does.
SPEAKER_03Did she do sourdough?
SPEAKER_00No, she hasn't jumped on that panel. She will, yeah. Okay. Yeah. Um, but uh just food. I mean, just regular like just you know.
SPEAKER_03What's your favorite thing that she makes? Do you have one?
SPEAKER_00No, she I mean, everything's good, and she doesn't do many things twice, which is I'm I'm I'm like Wow. Yeah, I'm like, look, you got some like three gray staples that when you just like no, yeah, she does she no, she doesn't.
SPEAKER_03Does she enjoy like I like her bonet sauce on a Sunday?
SPEAKER_00I liked it more honestly when I was drinking wine, you know, how to feel glasses. You smell it for five hours and stuff, but uh I still like it. And then uh um so that's probably a good simmer on a Sunday. Yeah, yeah, and just let it smell for four or five hours. Probably probably that.
SPEAKER_03And then um chili is one of my I love chili.
SPEAKER_00But I used to I used to cook everything like chicken mars. I like a nice thick chicken marsella sauce, and like so I I would do that. I used to do chicken rollettini, like stuff it with like presciuto and mozzarella. Yeah, no, I I could do all that, yeah. But I I had this family recipe, it's on my sister's uh in-law's side.
SPEAKER_03Family secret?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's like a London broil recipe. I'll I'll give it to you.
SPEAKER_03It is I do love a London broil.
SPEAKER_00I know, but it makes a London Broil's really expensive. No, no, well, not compared to other red meats, is what I mean. But um it has Worcestershire, soy sauce, um, it has uh lemon juice, red wine vinegar, uh a cup and a half of vegetable oil for the marinade just so it tenderizes because London Broil is in a tougher so it turns out to be like flay mignon. Okay, and then uh you season it with salt, pepper, parsley, and uh and uh dry mustard, and then you just marinate it overnight. And then Rachel, I sent a picture of Rachel and Uncle Eddie Eats, I sent her a picture of my slicer.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so we need to have he has a full-on meat slicer in his house.
SPEAKER_00You know why? Why because my mom had one.
SPEAKER_03That's very interesting. Yeah, so what did she used to buy? She used to buy the hunk of the hunk of turkey. I don't know, the whole butterball turkey, then slice it on her own so she didn't have to wait at the deli counter.
SPEAKER_00So it just reminds me of her. That's why I got one. And I found her old one and I used it, but it burnt out like because it was like 40 years later.
SPEAKER_03So a little Rachel trivia about a meat slicer.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you cut your finger?
SPEAKER_03I did. I have half my finger missing.
SPEAKER_00Oh, Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_03Because, look, you could see, do you see how it goes to the side like that? So when Rachel, I'll speak about myself in third person here, was in college before my dad died, so I was 19. I worked at Quick Check over in Milltown, I guess it's considered Riders Lane, and they had me slicing onions on the meat slicer.
SPEAKER_00You got your finger.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's before there was any rules.
SPEAKER_03There were no rules. I literally, I mean, without being too disgusting, watched my finger. Um Yeah. And then um, I remember my dad. My dad was a very impatient, let's not wait for the rescue squad kind of people. So he got there literally from across town so quickly. And then you're already on that guy too, by the way. Yeah, yeah. He was like, Well, I'm not waiting. Let's get in the car. We're we're on our way.
SPEAKER_00Um can be very dangerous.
SPEAKER_03Well, they can be, but also and also like you give me a ticket. Like he was that kind of person, like, pull me over, I'm not asking permission. Um, and and they couldn't, there was nothing to reattach. So actually, like it's funny, but I always say, like, I can't ever like do anything illegal because my fingerprint is so identifiable because part of it's missing.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's up.
SPEAKER_03So when I go like that, it's it's it's very interesting. It's like a very identifiable aspect of me. Meat slicer. So I got a little bit of PST PTSD when I saw that picture. I was like, because I don't do well with it.
SPEAKER_00But so my family with two boys, we eat one and a half London uh two London broil.
SPEAKER_03Wait, so you slice the London broil on the meat slicer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that then it goes back into the marinade of the soy sauce, and you let it settle for like a half hour.
SPEAKER_03After you cook it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, you just heat up the marinade to to kill the germ, you know, this stuff.
SPEAKER_03No, uh, so you take it out as a hunk. Yeah, you slice it, you grill it, and you're I'm assuming that your thing can change thickness of slicing. So I mean you could have a nice thicker slice of London broad.
SPEAKER_00And then it goes back into the marinade. So it's literally a cup and a half of vegetable oil to take the bottom.
SPEAKER_03He's gonna write this. You better write this down because people are gonna want this recipe.
SPEAKER_00It's like a third of a cup of soy, a half a cup of red wine vinegar.
SPEAKER_03Do you really actually measure it? Like where do you don't eyeball it?
SPEAKER_00No, no, I measure it. Not with that much marinade. That's a lot. It's not like a tablespoon or then you do it. But then it goes back into all that and then it's like Wow. Like it's powerful.
SPEAKER_03Wow.
SPEAKER_00Like anybody who ever had it.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Like yeah, it's like okay, so there's there better be sides with the London broil. You cannot have a London broil without sides.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so I do this time of year do a lot of corn on the cob. I love corn on the corn. I boil it though. I boil it though. But but it's good, it's still good. It's still good.
SPEAKER_03Oh no.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I don't think so.
SPEAKER_00I got a lot going on when I'm cooking myself because inside there's outsides.
SPEAKER_03I I it goes on the grill.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I do that. I do I think with a tin foil, yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_03Right. And I put it in the baggie first with my own little olive oil and seasoning. I know, I know, I know.
SPEAKER_00But the corn's so good now, you don't even have to.
SPEAKER_03We're in Jersey and Jersey corn is you don't have to put anything on it right now. You don't really, but I do like the olive oil and the salt just to give it a little.
SPEAKER_00I like tomato salads. I don't love tomatoes, so I get it, but I'm not a tomato person.
SPEAKER_03That's a big one for me.
SPEAKER_00I would cook more size if it was appreciated.
SPEAKER_03I know.
SPEAKER_00Like I know where my family's at, and you know, and um Gina doesn't eat that much food. Right. You know what I mean? Like uh she she literally works out four or five days a week after work every day she works out. So uh, you know, so she comes home starving a lot. Sometimes she eats like why even work out. I mean, you ate so much food, like what was just counterproductive. Really? Because it's probably healthy. I'm half kidding, but yeah, but uh yeah, so um so that's dinner. So that's dinner.
SPEAKER_03That's very cool. I can't wait to hear uh the sandwich um sandwich king. Yeah, the sandwich he wants his family to call him the sandwich king. Okay. I'm as far as I'm concerned, you need to be a few sandwiches in before you. All right, like you need to earn that monitor. Seriously. Like one chicken cutlet and mozzarella with some balsamic lays does not make but I mean if you throw it in there.
SPEAKER_00Well what got me thinking was when we went to the place in Old Bridge, and and this is no dis disrespect to small businesses. You know, I went with my son, and uh with the tip it was fifty bucks. So exactly for two sandwiches. Right. So if I go there with my whole family for a sandwich, it's a hundred dollars, which I had no problem paying, but I'm not gonna do it's regularly.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's a hundred dollars. I under I I get it, because I actually did, and again, same thing. It's worth it. It is a hundred percent worth it. And I find you may not because you have growing boys, but in my family, one of those sandwiches can be two nights. Oh no, no, no, that's even what my family is very enormous, right? So you could cut it in half, put it aside, you have the next day.
SPEAKER_00Because I went with my son, the other half is oh, you have lunch for tomorrow. Right. And then we left it there.
SPEAKER_03I know. That's oh, that's painful.
SPEAKER_00You leave it in the car overnight. And then you wake up, you you're looking forward to it all day.
SPEAKER_03But then we were talking that also, like, even the pignoli nut cookies, like those pignoli cookies.
SPEAKER_00Well, those nuts are expensive to cook yourself.
SPEAKER_03They are, they really are. I get it. But I bought three cookies and it cost me almost $20.
SPEAKER_00Right, that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_03And like, that's on top of the meal. So the meal is a hundred for me when I left that day and I did I did the the whatever, it was a meal for four and then some desserts. It cost me $120 to take home.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_03So like we weren't even enjoying, like, it was for home take out. So it's not a knock. I agree with you. It's not a knock, but it's a luxury, right? Like it's a choice you have to make. I I think it's pretty much. Well, right.
SPEAKER_00So now when I go back, I'll have a different mindset.
SPEAKER_03And they do have an unbelievable menu.
SPEAKER_00It's it's it's it's worth $200. That's not what I'm saying. It's worth it.
SPEAKER_03Like it's a hundred nobody's knocking. Yeah. The quality, the the experience is delicious. The size of the size, totally worth it.
SPEAKER_00Nothing's worse than spending less on a weak sandwich.
SPEAKER_03And I'm actually one of those people who believes in spending on good food because it's an experience. I look at it as an experience, not just the food. The atmosphere is important to me. How you treat me when I go there is important to me.
SPEAKER_00The whole entire owner came up. Just chucking on it, shaking my hand. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03All of that to me is is all part of the experience.
SPEAKER_00And that's what a lot of pizza places are. Pizza places now have become more about the experience, like the personalities and the ones who aren't adjusting to that. I don't even want to go to.
SPEAKER_03I know.
SPEAKER_00Like I like the yeah, yeah, you though it's like, I know.
SPEAKER_03I like the home aspect of things, right? Like I could still remember. Like it's kind of the red cups, remember the red packs, the red, like textured cups.
SPEAKER_00Pizza hut.
SPEAKER_03Oh. Um, but I do agree. It it you want to bring there's a lot. I and actually, I'm gonna go back to social media and say that social media is really good for stuff like that because it gives Especially for restaurants, you, but it also gives you, as like a person in your house, ideas like that. I don't necessarily think of. And then there are so many people doing it right there, so you can literally do it with.
SPEAKER_00Gina watches the videos as she's calling it. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_03I do also. I stop, I did that for a lot of things, by the way. Um, I actually I'm I want to claim to fame. I made my bracelet right here. You can't see it, but I was a camper for many years, and string friendship bracelets were a thing. That's what you did on rainy days. I never left loving that. And there are some crazy just talking about videos. This is why I know it's so out loud, by the way, and off the beaten track. But I sit in front of my with the string and the video, and I pause it as I'm doing it because some of the designs are so intricate that you need somebody. So, yeah, I love that for social. I think that's such a great thing.
SPEAKER_00So, did you want to get into the uh I think we forgot about it already, about the sure thing? Are we you know saying sure?
SPEAKER_03Oh, so no, I totally want to get in. So one of my my best friends goes back to the thumbs up a little. It does, okay. So uh my my best friend um said, I have a great topic for you to talk about on out loud. I was like, bring it on, I love that, right? A few weeks ago, more than a few weeks ago, a couple months ago, right?
SPEAKER_00You have to come on.
SPEAKER_03I told her, and she's she's warming up to it. She doesn't know if she really wants to be on camera, but I think eventually she'll show up. Um, but a few months ago we did this thing about the thumbs up and how Jen Z thinks it's disrespectful. Um so two things. First, I have since changed my thumbs up consistently. I have to the exclamation point.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03Because especially if it's a positive thing, especially if you're enthusiastic. Right, like you're not gonna heart certain things because heart to me is reserved for certain people and certain topics.
SPEAKER_00And depending upon what sex it is, you gotta be careful. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03It could be misconstrued if somebody else is looking at it. Why are you hearting it? Like those things.
SPEAKER_00It's one of the ways women manipulate you too. But go ahead.
SPEAKER_03That's very interesting. That's really interesting. I never looked at it as a never heart a gun. Never hard a gun. That's very interesting. So I never heart, I always thumbs up anyway, unless it's like my kids or my mom or whatever. Or if I'm saying, like, get well suited, you know, if it's something related to like caring, or you know, then I will do it.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03But I always was a thumbsupper. I mean, I just I was a thumb, sure, thumbs up, right? So I have replaced the thumbs up with the exclamation point.
SPEAKER_00I like it. I wasn't sure about it at first.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I do. I like it too, because it's like, yeah, but see, I just go to do the thumbs up because it's just a universal happy thing, but it's not exclamation point. So my my friend says to me after, now I have to tell you the context. Oh, okay, yeah. You didn't tell me the context of it is that we were going back and forth about um, we had plans, and something came up and she had to run to do something literally right as I was walking out the door, and she was sort of back and forth about whether or not I should just come to her house or she should and and you know me, like I I just want to at that point go. So I answered sure. No exclamation point, no period, no nothing. Just sure. Um I think I might have been running out the door, and it was a voice thing, right? So it was just a sure. Um so later on that night, it was our bingo night, by the way. Anyone who plays bingo upset. Like it is we'll talk about that after. Um, but so I just did that, sure. Right. So I pick her up and we get in the car and she says, I you know, I have a great topic for your podcast. And I was like, okay, what? And she was like, what are people's thoughts on when somebody just responds with sure as a text?
SPEAKER_00Right. Uh oh. Did you know you did it?
SPEAKER_03I know, I said I do that all the time. And I was like, I said, is that because of me? Now, again, for context, we've been friends since ninth grade. So she can like we don't we're not getting angry at each other, we're not getting offended. Like she could say that stuff to me. So I was like, oh my god, that was me. I said sure, and I said, but I didn't mean it.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03I wasn't meaning it disrespectfully. Like, I think that I think it depends on who it's to and the context. If it's a boyfriend, girlfriend, or husband and wife thing, and you're in like a little situation, like antagonistic type of, I don't know, confrontation, whatever you want to call it, and the person just writes back a perfunctory sure, then I think they're pissed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right? Yeah, yeah, no, could be, yeah. Yeah, no, I could see that.
SPEAKER_03I can under I said to her, if I had put an exclamation point, she said I wouldn't have thought anything of it, I would have been fine with it. But because you just wrote sure, right? She thought I was angry. And I was like, no, I wasn't. No, I got it.
SPEAKER_00I could see why not angry, I wouldn't have took it as angry, I would have taken it as annoying or something. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean I think that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if I would have, but I can see why she does. Like I could see why somebody would, right? Like I I I would say, so like I was thinking when we just we just touched on this earlier before the podcast, like, what other words can you use? Right.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so that's what that's what's awesome about you because that you always go to like to circumvent like the right, like the other ways to go about it. Right. Which is what I did with the exclamation word.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. I think a great word instead of sure is absolutely. Absolutely instead of sure.
SPEAKER_02Don't you think absolutely is a little too gung-ho?
SPEAKER_03Well, like yeah. I feel like absolutely like do you want to go to Are you putting an exclamation point after that?
SPEAKER_00No, but if I say, hey, Rachel, you you want to meet up for coffee and go over this? And if you say that to me and I say sure, you might Am I not as committed to it?
SPEAKER_03Is that what it is?
SPEAKER_00Right, yeah. But if I say absolutely, that means I I'm on the same page as you.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00But maybe you only do absolutely when you mean it. You know what I mean? Yeah, like that seems to me like a very um strong of course is a good one. Yeah, I use I use I use of course a lot of things.
SPEAKER_03Of course is a real I like I love I like of course better than absolutely. Okay. In certain only because I feel like absolutely is too affirming.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but if I'm enthusiastic about it.
SPEAKER_03I know, but what if it doesn't need it doesn't fit in an enthusiastic way? Like what would be another substitute? Right, that's what I mean. Of course, would be a more that'll be great.
SPEAKER_00That'll be great. Yeah, I don't know, you know.
SPEAKER_03You got it?
SPEAKER_00Good, good I no, not you got it. No, God, I don't even know. Does anybody is that like a boomer thing? Right on. Do you know any you know anybody that's saying right. Eddie says write on still. It's like he does. Yeah, it's funny.
SPEAKER_03Wait, what if I you think it's a Texas thing? Right on. Wait, what if I said sure thing?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I don't like that. That's a little that's corny. I would probably cancel S minute. I mean, sure thing.
SPEAKER_03What would you write? I'm gonna write sure. I'm gonna change it up. I'm gonna start answering your texts with different ways of affirming what you say.
SPEAKER_00How about that's not a bad idea?
SPEAKER_03Or yeah, well, that's a lot to text about. I mean, that's that's not a bad idea. That's five words.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, have ChatGPT clean it up.
SPEAKER_03Sure. Why can't I just throw an exclamation? Well, that's also too affirming.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think the point of my sure last I know the point of my shore last night was that I didn't care either way.
SPEAKER_00Right, right, right. Well, maybe that that's what upset her, is that not upset her, but that's what she caught that she wanted you to care one way or the other.
SPEAKER_03Right. Right. Yeah. Right. And actually that's what she said. Like, so we were we were talking, now the conversation's coming back to me. So afterwards we said, um, yeah. Like, like I I yes, it's that I didn't either either way she wanted you to care as much to sort of make the decision, maybe make the decision in the moment, but I don't care enough. Certain things I don't you know, it's very interesting for me because I could be a paradox.
SPEAKER_00And I'm not calling her sensitive, but I'm personally very sensitive like that. Like the word, the word, the word. I know you are. Like you're paying.
SPEAKER_03I'm not necessarily.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Which is interesting about me. Like I you would I don't know. I would think I would be more sensitive.
SPEAKER_00Not where I'm offended, but where I don't want somebody to do something they don't want to do.
SPEAKER_03Like I'm not offended by the Oh, so you think sure insinuates that I'm not all there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like it doesn't matter. Like it doesn't matter. Like if it doesn't matter, then if it doesn't matter to you, then it it might not even matter to me if I'm asking. So if it doesn't matter to either of us, just stay home.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00Or or whatever. But but you know what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_03But in the moment it was who's gonna drive? Oh, okay. That's what it was. So it was like, I have to go out, so I can come get you, or I can go back. Like I was supposed to drive initially. And then she realized that she needed to run to CVS and get something, so she was out already. So it was like, Do you want me to come get you, or do you want to just come to my house, or should I and I was like, sure. I don't I it didn't matter to me either way, it was insignificant. I would have done whichever one.
SPEAKER_00So to me, sure was just like I want you to ask her how long you saying sure has been bothering her. She didn't say anything. Like, has it been 40 years? Like, has she been dealing with this for 40 years with you and never said anything?
SPEAKER_03I'm sure there are many things that probably have bothered her and other people about me. Well, what does that say? But that's good. That means that our But no, but I I actually like that because that means that in our relationship we're at a point where she feels comfortable enough to share that with me. So that's pretty cool. I like that she that actually makes me think that she does feel comfortable enough.
SPEAKER_00But I maybe yeah, she should actually known you for 80 years.
SPEAKER_03I know, I know. So, but do you think you know it's funny? I've been seeing so many memes lately about like 50 and fuck it. Like I say you a while ago. Like that was like I'm 50 now. I'm like, you know what? Screw you, you don't like it, whatever. But that could also be to the point where like maybe it's like now I'm I I don't know, I'm sort of at the like explain yourself kind of point, right? Like, she's like, what do you mean by that?
SPEAKER_00Right, right, right. I want to know.
SPEAKER_03Like, I think that's pretty cool, actually.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know I think so too. Because I think I think it's good to understand some of that because I think um even in like in the professional world, you might have these weird, you know, things that you do that annoy people.
SPEAKER_03And like, oh, I'm sure I do.
SPEAKER_00Like, right.
SPEAKER_03I know how to do it.
SPEAKER_00I work in an So I think it's important for friends to do bring certain things.
SPEAKER_03Yes, without a doubt. Listen, I am the first person to say that I am I am very often a tough pill to swallow for a lot of people. I'm sure I am.
SPEAKER_00Like I I had to have a discussion with one of my sons because when he answers stuff, he always seems guilty. And even when I know he's not, because like I couldn't find my wallet, and it was we it was really strange because I I I put it on the table because of my ADHD, the same spot.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00And it's always it's always there. So if it's lost, someone moved it.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00So what what what was happening is just big container for snacks with the lid, and it's just on the side of the kitchen table for now. So he put the lid on top of the kitchen table, then when he swiped the lid back on, the wallet fell into the snack. Not his fault, but when I said so when I asked that could have been an issue because God knows I mean No, I didn't have it for a day.
SPEAKER_03I was just gonna say, because who would even think to look in the street?
SPEAKER_00I couldn't go to the doctor with my eye because I didn't have any of my identity, you know, because I had an eye. But anyway, so so when I asked him, I was like, Matt, did you move my wallet? He takes out his wallet. No, I got my own. Like it just sounded like so guilty. But but a lot of things when he said he it's not that like the way he answers, I just don't it's what do you think that comes?
SPEAKER_03Do you think that's a generational thing? Do you think that's his generation that feels they have to answer to everything? That everything is accusatory?
SPEAKER_00Right, maybe maybe because I can be like that as you know, that's one of my weakest. Accusatory. Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, what Mike. Yeah, a little bit. I can be like that. Like that's something I I know I have to work on.
SPEAKER_02But is he like that with other people? Like, do you find that he's like that with other people? Because that would be interesting. Well, that's but that's your own.
SPEAKER_00But it was just uh so when he said that, I was like, take my money. Oh, and I had credit card fraud too, which was a coincidence. Like all in the same three hours. Yeah, it was just a it was this I had a call from TD Bank.
SPEAKER_03That's interesting. Did you see that thing where they said that they found somebody found a skimmer at the Dollar Tree?
SPEAKER_00No, I believe it.
SPEAKER_03I in our town.
SPEAKER_00Like, and I know where my credit card got stolen. Was the gas station and we were still?
SPEAKER_03I was just do you know, I have to tell you, that's very funny that you said that because I will not use a credit card ever to get gas, ever. Yeah, no. I purposely I'm almost there. I um no, I've been for a while. This whole entire school year. I have owned first of all, it started too. It is it is cheaper, so it did start a little bit from that, but my mother's credit card got hacked at the gas station right on the corner by our house, and I said, I will never pay with a credit card. I know people like the points on their credit card, it's not worth it to me. No, because I don't want to be a good thing.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's not worth it anymore because they charge you three percent extra on a credit card. So that's true too.
SPEAKER_03So I, for me, I I pay cash. I have $40 in my po wallet at all times, ready for a tank of gas, because I refuse. I I have also I for a while I did your $20 thing when the gas was really, really high. Yeah, so I just made sure I had a $20 bill, and no matter where I was, I just would pull up the $20 of gas because I wasn't getting stuck with that.
SPEAKER_01Right, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And sometimes I drive in some shady areas with all due respect, I mean, no offense, but that skimming of a credit card might happen more is more easily because nobody's monitoring the tanks or the machines, whatever it is. Right. So I don't I I believe it 100%.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So uh so back to that very interesting, guilty Yeah, just like everything seems guilty immediate response.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think I wonder if it's a generational thing. My kids are not, but my kids are they are the same are they the same generation?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so they're the same generation. I don't know. Oh, you know, funny generation-wise, I was telling you, did I tell you this about the um change or the shift in posting everything that I had the conversation with the 30-year-old?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Did I talk to you about that? Yeah, a little bit, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I went somewhere and the cashier was 30, one, I think she was. And then another employee that was right next to her was a few years younger, they said. So I guess 27, 28, whatever. And we were talking about how um people of their generation, of their age, the 31-year-old was saying that everybody posted everything, no matter how embarrassing, or what was gonna happen, or what everything was a little bit, but right? Like everything, everybody her age posted everything, shock value, no matter what it brought. And it took so long, like, and this was them, you know, 24 years younger than me, kind of walking through it. So it was very interesting to hear them say it. As a teacher, I always say it, but you know, that they didn't realize how damaging that was going to be, and it took so long. And I find it interesting because my kids who are 14 now cringe over performative posts, right?
SPEAKER_00Right, right, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And they're like, Why are you posting everything? Don't post me. I don't want to be on social media, I don't blah blah blah blah blah. Like they are anti, so it's very interesting that a 15-year span, literally 15 years between the two, has completely shifted the mindset.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I mean, and granted, not everybody is a no poster, but progress and isn't evolving, and you know, when social media came out, I was like, What do you do with this now? You know, it's like too much freedom. Yeah, and I just remember, you know, when I first Got on in 2008, 2009.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00There were certain people that were just like these long posts about their bad marriage really not even so much bashing the spouse. It was more just like a therapy session really on a social media.
SPEAKER_03Well, you don't find that now. I find a lot of people go on and they just talk like no, but not about their spouse. I mean, not about their spouse, but I do follow people who go on and talk about being like a single mom after a divorce and how pickup can, you know, like that. I do find that people do that very often.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Now, but I think maybe the difference is that it's done more responsibly. Yeah. Maybe. Yeah, no, this is this was just like very raw.
SPEAKER_00Like then you're in you're in the life of these people's therapy side. It was it was like some of it was like, and they're still married like 20 years later sometimes, or 15 years later, which is funny. But uh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Wow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you got to do it. Like, did people you know do that? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03People I know personally went on social media. And how did like their spouse handle it?
SPEAKER_00That's what I mean. I don't, you know, I don't I don't I don't know.
SPEAKER_03They would aren't how would you handle that if your wife you went on social media and your wife was I know people who like I would just leave. I mean I know people who like that there when social media came out, they would have Facebook pages or Insta and then their like their spouse was like, yeah, no.
SPEAKER_00Right, right.
SPEAKER_03Like either e no. Oh, right because too many people from their past were coming out of the woodwork. Oh, yeah, that that always like that's not a good idea.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03Let's just not even go there.
SPEAKER_00No, no.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I I mean I can understand there were many marriages probably right in the beginning that were affected, right? Still, still I know still, but would you do you think that probably more in the beginning?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_03People c contacting people they hadn't seen or spoken to in years?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's it's a lot of things. I think there's a lot of that still going on, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, there's uh I think I saw somewhere or I I read something somewhere.
SPEAKER_00Facebook is like the uh I think it's a cesspool of like if Facebook if Facebook Messenger ever got hacked. Oh like Ashley Madison got hacked. Do you know remember Ashley Madison?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00So Ashley Madison was a website, there's a documentary on it. I watched a documentary for married people to have affairs.
SPEAKER_03There's an actual website for married people to have affairs besides Tinder?
SPEAKER_00No, no or whatever. No, no, this is designed for married people, right? So um their database got hacked, and but the CEOs and everything weren't protecting the data. Like it was like I could have hacked it probably. You know what I mean? Like like it was really poor.
SPEAKER_03So all of these people who had accounts?
SPEAKER_00And that's and that if that happens to Facebook, there would be nobody married almost.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, probably at some point. Well, I mean, or everybody would just have to say, okay, let's just start over.
SPEAKER_00Have you ever seen it? Right?
SPEAKER_03Like just come clean and call it a day and move on. Because everybody's doing it. You can't blame everybody.
SPEAKER_00Have you ever seen these influent these uh personalities going around? They'll walk up to a couple and say, I'll give you a thousand dollars if you give me your phone and I can go through your messages in front of your girlfriend or spouse there doing it.
SPEAKER_03I never saw that. Oh my god, that is such clickbait. No, there's no right answer to that.
SPEAKER_00Right. Because I wouldn't want anybody to go through my phone brand new phone. Right, but a thousand dollars is you know, some people that that's that's that's you know, paying them the rent for the bot. Like they and uh then then like Oh my god. And one of them was like, yeah, absolutely. Then then the other one would be like, no, I don't want anybody, you know, yeah. It's just do they have a fight right there on they break up a lot right there. Because sometimes they let them go through the message, then the guy finds something for like four years ago that maybe it was a little you know that's very funny.
SPEAKER_03Do you delete texts? I never delete texts.
SPEAKER_00Uh by some people I don't.
SPEAKER_03Uh like I've deleted um I delete like confirmations from like restaurants and shit like that, but I don't delete texts.
SPEAKER_00So sometimes I I would say 90% of the time I don't, but the texts I delete are group texts where I just get fucking like I see.
SPEAKER_03I don't delete, I don't delete those either, though. I just leave them.
SPEAKER_00People would be surprised at texts I I had texts from five years ago on my phone. Oh, I have 10, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Texts. I by the way, I have kept almost every single one of my phones.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03With the chargers, even if the chargers are no longer available.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I could probably pull up texts from 15 years ago.
SPEAKER_00But the iPhone keeps everything if you do it right.
SPEAKER_03I know, but there have been times where my iCloud was too whatever.
SPEAKER_00Sometimes I'm searching for uh something on my phone and someone's name pops up that I've got to be able to do that.
SPEAKER_03That you haven't seen in forever. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It was like convert like shit. Then I'm like reading.
SPEAKER_03Then I have you ever named somebody in your contacts and forgot what you named them?
SPEAKER_00No, I have. I have uh I I have uh why do you do that?
SPEAKER_03So I had somebody like fat ass or something in my life who was really toxic for me, really toxic, and he would show up whenever he wanted to. Um but I didn't I it was just one of those relationships where um it was just one of those relationships you didn't really want too many people to even know about, and like um not because it was hurting anybody else, but because it just probably shouldn't have been happening. Right for our sake, it was just not a healthy relationship.
SPEAKER_01I understand that.
SPEAKER_03And so, in order to like put it out of my mind, I named it I named it something, and then I forgot what I named it, and of course when he popped back up, I was like, Oh, that's what I named it.
SPEAKER_00I I have some people like so I have him, I named him the contact. So what what I've done was made someone's text sound different. So when they text, you can change the tone.
SPEAKER_03Oh, oh, the ringtone that comes up so you know it's them.
SPEAKER_00Right. So if I know not the individuals like have in their own right. Right. So the other I was yesterday I was at uh it's time though. I was at a client and the popcorn text came up and it it triggered me because that's what that it looks like.
SPEAKER_02Oh, somebody else?
SPEAKER_00Right. So I go, uh I and I said right out loud, like that better not be my fault. Like that better not be my fault.
SPEAKER_03I say, I hope that's your that better not be popcorn is not a good person. No, not a good person you want popping up, popping up, yeah. Pun intended.
SPEAKER_00Exactly.
SPEAKER_03Pun intended.
SPEAKER_00You never did that at SWAT.
SPEAKER_03I never did that.
SPEAKER_00Like you could do it just your kids, so well I right.
SPEAKER_03I so it sounds like I do have like pictures that come back.
SPEAKER_00You know, like that come up when someone's in time, I would have my phone charging away. So that's where the search.
SPEAKER_03Right, right, right. That's genius, actually. I just never thought to do it. Yeah, so it's just so do you remember when we used to have to like download ringtones and like buy them?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course. And now I I never really did it, but uh I did songs, a couple songs. Right.
SPEAKER_03Like good, like older songs that I wanted playing, like probably an Eagle song. Right. Like that, I would imagine that might have been one of those like non-offensive, like just chill instead of a ring.
SPEAKER_00Gina's phone ring is the fucking quack. Quack, quack, quack. Which is so like not Gina, which but it makes me smile every time I hear her.
SPEAKER_02Maybe that's why.
SPEAKER_00It's such a terrible sound. Yeah. Quack, quack, quack.
SPEAKER_03Mine for a while was that classic ring, but everybody's is the classic ring. So then you never know whether or not it's your phone ringing. And the other I I do pay attention to the text tone because that could be very annoying. Especially when people are like Rob, who does the serial texts, the one word.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So there's 17 texts coming in a matter of 3.5 seconds. And if if you're you got that? Because I did. He said sure. Um I changed it so that it's not annoying to other people.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03It doesn't bother me, but I know that if I was like in a store and I heard bing, bing, bing, bing, I would want to probably yell at the person. So then I am more, you know, cognizant of that. But I don't um, I don't even know what my ringtone is. I think it's just some normal one of their My Phone's on silent. Like, well, that there's like a meme for that, right? That like we spent all this time picking our ringtones, and now everybody just puts their phone on silent. My kids never have their ringer on. Ever.
SPEAKER_00So the next time you go out to dinner with a group of people, this is what I want you to to study.
SPEAKER_03Everybody listen.
SPEAKER_00And do some research on it too.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00See who sits down with their phone facing down like you have it. And who's up. See if they're married or not. See what's going on. It tells a lot of stories.
SPEAKER_03What does it say about me? Am I hiding something? Maybe. Do you know why I do it? So that I don't pay attention to if somebody's crawling.
SPEAKER_00That's very interesting. But spend five minutes of research on it. Like, like Google it, not even ChatGPT. Google it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it's probably people hiding, I would say. Right, right. Of course.
SPEAKER_00Right, but it it's it's very telling. You know what I mean? Like, like you'll and everybody you would expect to have your phone down has their phone down.
SPEAKER_03See, it's funny because I would look at something like that as one of the reasons that I put my phone.
SPEAKER_00I call people out.
SPEAKER_03Like that's you know, so the funny thing is I'm not hiding it from anybody, right? Because I don't have a spouse, so I'm not trying to hide anything. So for me, I look at it as a respectful thing because my phone's down. Yeah. So I'm not paying attention to what's on it.
SPEAKER_00I can assure you, most people, that's not white or something.
SPEAKER_03I know. I know.
SPEAKER_00I do is sometimes uh I'm a spiller. I ruined a lot of thousand dollar laptops and phones, so if I spill it, I rather spill on the back of my phone than the front.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't think that's so interesting.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no. There's data behind it. I'm sure there is not this is not Rob is just not something.
SPEAKER_03Because I'd notice it and I went home and it's not in my wheelhair.
SPEAKER_00I went in that rabbit hole for like an hour one time after noticing some phones are down. Yeah. Like it's always down. It's not down once in a while, it's always down.
SPEAKER_03So then you can say, should a phone even be on the table when you're out for dinner, right? Like, I mean, for me, I have to because I have kids and I I need to see my phone, but like yeah, I think everybody does, right? I don't think it's a disrespectful thing. I mean, I think if you're sitting there scrolling Facebook um while you're having dinner, it's rude. But I don't right, like I don't see that's so interesting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Just notice it.
SPEAKER_03So do the work, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Report back to us. I want you to everybody pay attention to that. Who and then And if your spouse has the phone down, as well as your phone always knows. Can I go through your phone? No, I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_03And actually, I I'm curious if anybody else has ever seen that thing where they call them out. Would you let somebody check your phone for a thousand dollars? Would let's say.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That should be a poll. I mean, China has my password. We should do a poll.
SPEAKER_02We should do a poll. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03We're gonna leave you with that this week. Yeah. I think we're gonna put up a poll. I don't know how good it'll be because I'm in charge of those things now. But I'm gonna try to figure out how to put an Instagram. Instagram does that, right? I'll I'll try to figure, we'll cut this reel out. We'll cut this reel out and we'll see what everybody says, whether or not you would pay you would let somebody read your is that what it is? Read your text out loud? Do they have to be able to be read it read out loud, or can somebody read your texts?
SPEAKER_00Like what what what's it's reading in front of the spouse to see if anything's going on or throwing it?
SPEAKER_03Okay, so would you allow somebody else to read your text in front of your significant other for a thousand dollars?
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay. We can't wait to see. See you next week.
SPEAKER_01Thanks, everyone.
SPEAKER_03Bye.
