Hillary Summerbell
Hillary Summerbell is the CEO and founder of the Summerbell Reading Method, an EdTech solution designed to support dyslexic and neurodivergent learners through brain-based design. A visual dyslexic herself, she built Summerbell to help education adapt to how brains actually work.
Her work focuses on reducing cognitive load and improving how text is visually presented so learners can build fluency and confidence. In a Johns Hopkins University evaluation, students using Summerbell showed statistically significant gains in oral reading fluency compared to peers who did not use the tool.
In this episode of EdTech Empowerment: Innovating Education Together, Hillary shares how designing for real brains can reshape reading instruction and equity in education.
