Scott W. Phillips

Scott is a retired college professor from Buffalo State University, and worked as a police officer in Houston, TX.  His research focuses on empirical examinations of police officer decision-making and organizational influences on officers’ behavior.  Scott has published over fifty peer-reviewed journal articles, and he twice served as the Futurist Scholar in Residence with the Behavioral Science Unit at the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Joseph Schafer

Joseph A. Schafer is a professor in the School of Criminology & Criminal Justice at Arizona State University. His research focuses on policing, organizational change, leadership, police officer perceptions and behavior, and future issues in crime and justice. He was the 2006-2007 President of Police Futurists International, was a member of the PFI/FBI Futures Working Group, and served as a visiting scholar in the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI Academy (2006-2008 & 2012-2014) and the Centre of Excellence in Policing & Security at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia (2012).

Justin Nix

Justin Nix is a Distinguished Associate Professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he teaches classes on policing and coordinates the Master of Arts degree program.  Justin has conducted research in a variety of areas, including officer involved shootings, de-policing, body-cameras, and turnover in police agencies.

Sean Varano

Sean Varano is a Professor in the School of Justice Studies at Roger Williams University. Dr. Varano's area of expertise are in law enforcement policy and practice, innovative approaches to violence reduction, youth gangs, and evaluation research. Dr. Varano is an active collaborator with local communities implementing and evaluating evidence-based approaches to crime and public health.  Dr. Varano is a 2002 graduate of Michigan State University (Ph.D.) and previously worked for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community-Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office).

Steve Bishopp

Stephen A. Bishopp is a major in the Dallas Police Department with over 30 years experience.  He leads the Data Analysis & Management Unit of the Intelligence Division—UCR/NIBRS Unit and the Crime Analysis Unit.  His research interests include evidence-based policing, use of force, police mental health/well-being and criminological theory. His publications appear in many prestigious journals.
