Okay, bring it in. Bring it in, listen up, listen up. Hey, I'm Coach Mickey. You're here on 4th and 1 Mindset and today I want to talk to you about how do we shut out the noise of distraction. And what brought me to this topic today is the fact that I have been allowing so many distractions take away from really what I need to be doing or want to do. And now I'm not saying not be responsible. We all have jobs, we all have families, we all have things that we have to take care of, that are going to require our attention and that are going to take time, you know to do, and people are going to expect us to be there for. But what I'm talking about is saying no us to be there for. But what I'm talking about is saying no, saying no to things that we know we should be saying no to, because it is taking away a lot of our time from things, and what I mean by that.
Speaker 1:Recently, as you guys know, I wrote a book, fourth in One Mindset, and I was so excited I published it back in May and I haven't even had time to book a book signing. I haven't had time to go out and market my own book because I have been so busy doing other things for other people that have pulled me in different directions that I haven't even taken time for myself. And it really kind of made me mad because I thought about it as I sat here and looked at my book and I was like, oh my gosh, I haven't even had five minutes to do anything with this. And then, on top of that, I love coaching. I love it and I'm currently coaching. You know, as I told you before, I'm currently coaching this year and I love my kids. They're great and that time to me is my me time. So I'm not going to qualify that as noise, because as a distraction, because it's not because I love it, but I do know it's very, very time consuming. And where I'm coaching right now is about an hour and a half drive one way, so three hours out of my day is spent in the car for a two hour practice, but the reward with the kids is great. So there you go, there's three hours. So during that timeframe I try to utilize it by either listening to books on tape, making my game plan, making my business calls, but I do find that when I'm finally back in my house and I'm trying to get other things done, to sit down at my desk and even just do a simple podcast.
Speaker 1:The time is so narrow that it makes it difficult to be able to fit something like that in. So I've had to learn how to say no. I've had to learn to say for everybody that's depending on me to take care of things, find things, do things. I've had to say no. You know, I think this is the part where you guys are going to have to step up and maybe take a look at it and revisit to see what you can do without needing me to take care of it for you. Or I'm there to help you, but let me see what you got, let me see what you've done so far so I can help you move forward with it instead of just doing it myself and I'm notorious for doing that going. You know, I'd rather just do it myself and get it done and not have to worry about it, but it also takes up a lot of my time and I've had to learn to say no. So I wanted to share this with you today because I think a lot of you have got the noise of distraction, whether it's being pulled in a different direction.
Speaker 1:Whether you are scrolling through your phone, whether you're getting caught up in the rabbit hole of social media, I do it myself. I have to catch myself. I've learned not to do it A lot of times when I'm filming either here for my YouTube channel or I'm on TikTok or any of my other social media. I've had to learn not to go down that rabbit hole. So next time you think you don't have enough time and I've had to do this myself is take a look at your day.
Speaker 1:Take a look at your phone. See how many hours you've actually spent on your phone. See how many times you are going down a rabbit hole on social media. Put a timer on when you want to start it. If you need that fixed, put your 15 minute fix and then take the other 15 minutes to do something else. And I know that we can all find time to do the things we really want and make it a priority, because something that's important to you will become a priority and you will find the time to do the things that you love and that you wanna do. So until then, get out there, do what you want, start strong and finish strong and dominate everything in between, and if you're enjoying my channel, please like and subscribe down below.
