Shots ring out at a glittery DC media dinner and suddenly everyone’s asking the same thing: how does someone get that close with the Secret Service in the building? We talk through what the news reports say about the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting at the Washington Hilton, including the suspect’s alleged writings, the “friendly federal assassin” language, the family warnings, and why the timeline raises so many security questions. And yes, we also address the internet’s inevitable split between “follow the facts” and “this feels staged.”

From there, we pivot into another kind of public fallout: the music industry scramble when an artist is charged in a high-profile case. We react to reports of label distancing, collaborations getting pulled, demonetization, and growing calls for Spotify and Apple Music to remove music. It’s a real conversation about accountability, platform power, and why companies often wait until the legal system forces their hand.

Then we switch gears to something that surprised us with how much joy it brought: the “Michael” movie. I give my full crowd-level review, from the eras the film covers to the moments that had people clapping, dancing, and not wanting to leave the theater. We talk about Jafar Jackson’s performance, what younger viewers may be learning for the first time, and why highlighting Michael Jackson’s generosity matters in an age where “philanthropist” can feel like a marketing title.

If you’re into politics, pop culture, and real talk with the chat, press play, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review with your take on what stood out most.

Shooting At The Press Dinner

SPEAKER_04

What is going on, Desi? I see you in the building. We are early today, but like I said, I have something to do. You know, I don't like to cut this the time of the show any any shorter than an hour. So I had to pop on 15 minutes early. Uh yeah, I got something to do that I have to I have to leave out of the house at uh like around, I really need to leave out the house about 9.15. So I had to start the the show 15 minutes early. Because I want to make sure we still get an hour show in today. I didn't want to cut this, I didn't want to cut the show short. Uh so we early today, but it's okay. Everybody will come piling in at 8.30 and they can catch the replay. Definitely never want to cut the short show short if I can help it. Uh what's good? Good morning, Desi. Yeah, so we we definitely up and moving today. Uh we're gonna talk about this shooting at the White House dinner today. A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Good morning, Laura. And also, I saw the movie Michael. You know I had to get my review. Uh, matter of fact, I'm trying to think, should I start? No, I'll start with the Trump stuff. Because by the time everybody gets in here, we're gonna talk about Michael and they can replay this Trump stuff. So let's, without further ado, let's get into this Trump mess. Uh from the AP news, DC Gala shooting suspect aired grievances against Trump in writings to his family. Uh, this is from the Washington AP. The man accused of opening fire at the White House Correspondence Association dinner uh railed against Trump administration policies and referred to himself as a friendly federal assassin. In writings sent to family members minutes before an attack that authorities increasingly believe was politically motivated, according to a message review by the Associated Press. The writings sent shortly before shots were fired Saturday night at the Washington Hilton made repeated references to President Donald Trump without naming him directly and alluded to grievances over a range of administration actions, including U.S. strikes on boats accused of smuggling drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Investigators are treating the writings along with the trail of social media posts and interviews with family members as some of the clearest evidence, yet of the suspect's mindset and possible motives. Some people on social media saying it was set up. They believe it's a setup, this was planned out, it's fake and staged. I'm just gonna deal with what they're saying in the news and we'll go from there. Authorities uncovered what one law enforcement official described as numerous anti-Trump social media posts linked to the suspect. Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old California man accused of trying to breach a security checkpoint at the dinner while armed with multiple guns and knives. This how did it happen? People are saying, how the hell did he get in there with all of that? Call himself a friendly federal assassin.

SPEAKER_02

He will be appearing in federal court. Now, what do we know about this guy so far?

Support Squad Goal And Donations

SPEAKER_04

Look, Desi ain't buying it. Desi said, hey, look, Desi said that that that is uh they they they they they faked the whole thing. Now, what are they saying that we know about Cole Thomas Allen? Man accused of shooting while White House course at a White House correspondence dinner. The man accused of opening fire at the White House correspondence dinner sent writings to family members minutes before the shootings, referred to himself as a friendly federal assassin, railing against Trump administration policies and signaling what investigators increasingly believe was a politically driven attack, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation. Cole Thomas Allen is the man accused of charging a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondence Associates dinner. Saturday night. We all heard about it. Now, what we've learned so far about Allen. 31-year-old Allen is from Torrance, California. The National Investigative Unit has confirmed that Allen was working as a tutor in Torrent and was actually teacher of the month in December 2024. He had written about targeting Trump administration officials, and his family raised concerns with law enforcement before the event. President Donald Trump said Sunday in an interview on Fox News channel, the accused Gumman's family had alerted police in Connecticut. Trump said, revealing a new details about a chaotic encounter that disrupted one of Washington's glitsiest annual events the night before. White House officials told our Washington Bureau and investigative unit that Allen's brother had notified the New London Police Department in Connecticut of Allen's alleged manifesto, which he had sent to his family members minutes prior to the incident. The suspect's written manifesto stating he wanted to target administration officials. He also had a ton of anti-Trump and anti-Christian rhetoric on his social media accounts. Secret Service and Montgomery County police interviewed Alan's sister at their residence in Rockville, Maryland. She said that her brother had a tendency to make radical statements, and his rhetoric constantly referenced a plan to do something to fix the issues with today's world. Afternoon, sweet tooth. We started a little early today. I got something to do at, and I have to be at the house at like 9:15. So I started at 8:15 today, so I so I could keep the show at an hour long. You know, I try not to ever have to shorten it. Also, since everybody coming in, let me make sure. Let me stop right there as far as let me put the uh let me put the uh link in the chat for the support squad. We got our$250 uh weekly goal we need to meet. Y'all like sweating bullets, y'all like waiting to the last minute. But uh I want to get this I want to get this done as soon as possible this week. I don't want to have my blood pressure raising up. So I'm gonna put the link in the chat and then I'm gonna continue to dive into this Trump mess. Hope everybody had a good weekend. How was your weekend, sweet too?

SPEAKER_02

Let's put this in the chat. Boom.

Suspect Profile And Warning Signs

Security Gaps And Public Doubts

SPEAKER_04

$250. We are just starting our weekly goal. Here's the link right here, or you can donate to the super chat on YouTube. But it's also easy to go here. You can donate anywhere from a dollar to a million dollars, whatever you have to spare. If you got a little million dollars tucked to the side somewhere, go on and send it. If you got a dollar, go on and send a dollar. If you got 10, send 10. We're gonna get this goal. We're gonna get our goal this week. So let's go. Um let's get back to this Trump mess. The White House shooting. Uh, there was also confirmed that Alan purchased two handguns. Well, no, no, no. Let's go back. Secret Service and Montgomery County police interview Alan's sister at their residence in Rockville, Maryland. She said that her brother had a tendency to make radical statements, and his rhetoric constantly referenced a plan to do something to fix the issues with today's world. She also confirmed that Alan purchased two handguns and a shotgun from Cap Tactical Firearms and kept them stored at their parents' home and that their parents were unaware that Alan was keeping the firearms in the home. He would regularly go to the shooting range to train with his firearms. His sister also confirmed that Alan was part of the group called the Wide Awakes. I guess they were super woke. The writings sent shortly before shots were fired at the Washington Hilton, made repeated references to President Donald Trump without naming him directly and alluded to grievances over a range of administration actions and recent events, including U.S. strikes on drug smuggling boats in the Eastern Pacific, the official said. Investigators are treating the writings along with the trail of social media posts and interviews with family members as some of the clearest evidence yet of the suspect's mindset and possible motives. It is believed to have been targeting members of Trump's administration. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanch said Sunday. Blench said officials believe that the suspect traveled by train from California to Chicago and then to Washington, where he checked in as a guest to the hotel where one of the Washington's glitsiest events was being held Saturday night. Law enforcement officials who have examined the gunman's electronic devices and his writings preliminarily believed he intended to target administration members in attendance at the dinner. It does appear that he did, in fact, set out to target folks who work in the administration, likely including the president. Blanch told the media uh meet the press. The suspect is also believed to have purchased firearms he carried within the last couple of years. Blanch said he is not being cooperative. Uh federal election records show Allen made a$25 donation on October 13th. Uh earmark for Kamala Harris's campaign. Allen's voting record in California did not show a party affiliation. A May 2025 profile photo of Cole Thomas Allen of Torres, California appears to match the appearance of the man in a photo of the alleged attacker posted by President Donald Trump. The photo posted to the social network site LinkedIn shows him after graduating with a master's degree in computer science from California State University. Alan earned a bachelor's in the degree in mechanical engineering in 2017 in the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. He listed his involvement there in Christian Student Fellowship and a campus group that battled with Nerf guns. What type of dude is this? A local ABC station in Los Angeles included an interview with Allen during the senior year of his college as part of a story about new technologies he would help help people as they age. New technologies that will help people as they age. He had developed a prototype for a new type of emergency brake for wheelchairs. So this guy seemed like all helpful, but he wanted he he definitely was blasting. And this was a point I was gonna bring up. And what do y'all think about this? I was about to bring this up next. Hey, what's up, Elise? Elise said, did you guys notice they rushed bands out of the way before the president? Everybody's talking about that. What do y'all think about that? One officer was actually shot. He was stopped by the Secret Service, but one officer was shot. But he was protected by his bulletproof vest. He was shot from a very close distance with a very powerful gun, and the vest did the job, said the President Trump. The officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. The suspect was also taken to the hospital for evaluation. At least six shots were fired in the lobby that leads to the dining room where the event was being held. The fact that they just unified, I saw a room that was totally unified. It was in one way very beautiful and a very beautiful thing to see. A man charged a security checkpoint armed with multiple weapons, and he was taken down by some very brave members of Secret Service, and they acted very quickly. Trump said. The Secret Service and other authorities swarmed the banquet hall as guests ducked under tables, saying, Out of the way, sir, someone yelled, others yell, duck. A first-person account claims to have been inside a bathroom right near where the shooting happened and heard several shots fired. Once evacuated from the bathroom, the witness said they they saw broken glass near the stairs and a person lying on the floor with lots of Secret Service around them. White House correspondents associate president said everyone is safer after the shooting incident. Everyone is safe after the shooting incident. The event will be rescheduled. So they rescheduled the event, y'all. They rescheduled this event with all the pandemonium going on. All the officials protected by the Secret Service were evacuated. Those in attendant included Trump, uh Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Heggseth, and Security Estate Marco Rubio, and other leaders of the Trump administration. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he and his wife Kelly, who both attended the event, were praying for our country tonight. The House Democratic leader, Rep Hakeem Jeffries of New York, said the violence and chaos in America must end. Grandma Kathy said at this point she's gonna keep her mouth shut. Good morning, Grandma Kathy. Good morning, creepy little beech. Let me put the link back on the thing, y'all.$250 weekly go. Who's gonna pop it off this show? But uh a lot of chaos, a lot of people saying a lot of things. That are that's the particulars on this White House shooting. It seemed like this has been the craziest president. So shas any other president been near more gunfire than Trump? I'm asking a serious question. This is like ridiculous. How did the guy even get through all the security like that? Like, with all with them guns and all that, getting through looking crazy? Did he take his shirt off after the fact? Did he come in shirtless? What the hell? Are we are we cutting corners on security? Is this planned? Well, y'all tell me what's really going on. How many times did Reagan get shot at? Or or how many times was Reagan around shooting? Good morning, Sharon. How many times was Reagan around gunfire in his? I do know I do know of one incident, but I don't know if he had more than one. Y'all tell me. Trump gonna have to uh stay in a bubble. He's gonna have to stay in a protective bubble. Creepy said no, they stripped his ass. Two? Okay, so creepy creepy says two. Yeah, this is crazy. Crazy situation. I'm sitting there watching the game. Next thing I know, they somebody is shooting at the White House. I was like, what? When we go, now I took my son a while ago. We went to we went to DC. And if you're just a person with your kids even looking at the White House, They be standing there with them big rifles, whatever those big ass guns they have, making you look making you feel intimidated about even just looking at the White House. I'm sure y'all been to the White House where you go in with your kids and you showing them the White House and you standing outside the gate, and they got all them guys with them big ass rifles looking all extra serious, kind of making the whole moment scary, even for your kid. All that, and then this guy just could get all the way into the dinner and be blasted. I don't get the shit. I don't know if y'all have ever been to the White House or DC, but they be intimidating, like you sitting there with your kid just trying to show them the White House, and they sitting there looking all crazy with big ass guns on deck. Creep my son out before, like, like like but but this guy was able to get all the way into the White House, all the way, damn near to the dinner. What the hell?

SPEAKER_02

Makes no sense. Makes no sense.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I agree with this. I think he I think he's adding too much gas onto the fire. Yeah, I would definitely, if I was uh if I was Trump, I would definitely calm down and quit pouring gas on the fire because we living in a time where you don't people are already ready to do something crazy. You don't need to provoke them. I get even I even get threats. I get threats in my DM and stuff. People are just ready to do something stupid, and you can't provoke them. You cannot egg them on because people are looking, people don't value life anymore. They're looking for to do something crazy. Oh, is that the hotel? The guy had a room for three days. Okay. Oh, so the guy had so this is what this is the this is what happened. I knew I knew it didn't make sense. Creepy Lil Beach says it was at the hotel, and the guy had a hotel for three days. Okay. So that's what happened, y'all. So this thing this event was at a hotel. Thanks, creepy, for the correction. It was at the hotel, and the guy had a hotel room for three days. Mmm, okay. And then Lazy Baby says, Lazy Baby says, What's up, Grandma Kathy? Lazy Baby says, she seen some clips of people who said they knew something was gonna happen at the event. And a lot of people thinking it was pre-planned. Now, they did say there were a lot of warnings that something was gonna happen at that event.

SPEAKER_02

Let's see, what what hotel was it at? Say what what hotel was they at?

SPEAKER_04

Let's see, let me find out. Let's find out what hotel they was at. Uh what hotel was the recent Trump dinner shooting at? Let me know in the chat. Okay, it was at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so it was at the Washington Hilton.

SPEAKER_04

So they say this is the same hotel where Ronald Reagan was shot in in 1981 after a speaking engagement. A lot of reporters at the dinner immediately pointed that out because the Washington Hilton already has that dark presidential security history. Wow. So this was at the Washington Hilton, and this was the same hotel that Ronald Reagan was shot at in nineteen eighty one.

SPEAKER_02

What a coincidence.

SPEAKER_04

Elise says, has anyone heard that they found a piece of hair that they might be able to obtain DNA in Nancy Guthrie's bedroom? I thought I heard Sharon. So the media and the politicians were having a dinner together. This is the first time Trump came. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, this is a crazy situation.

Michael Movie Review And Highlights

SPEAKER_04

Let's see what what other updates we got. That's enough of the Trump mess. We'll see more of that develops. Uh the guy's supposed to be having a federal court date. We'll see how that goes. You'll see how that goes. Any new news in the David case before we get to my Michael review. I know uh they taking David off of all social media. Thank you, Lazy Baby, for the ten dollar donation. We are now at two hundred and forty dollar left for our weekly goal. Everybody show lazy baby some love in the comments for the ten dollar donation. She says we started off on a good foot. We're keeping the live alive. Thank you so much, Lazy Lazy Baby. Excuse me. Crazy ass. David, David, David. I know uh the labels is dropping them left and right. Think what was the Interscope said they dropping them off their website. So David Rolling Stone is saying David quietly was dropped by his label, and Song Collabs pulled among amid calls for streaming sites to remove his music. Spotify and Apple Music are facing pressure to remove the singer's music from its platform after the romantic homicide singer was charged in kill in the killing of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Last year, Interscope Records quietly dropped David from its label in its wake of singers' arrest for the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Universal Music Group has helped some of its artists who have collaborated with David to remove their songs from streaming platforms. Rolling Stone has learned. So they demonetized them on YouTube. People are starting to take action. But the crazy thing is, I guess it's even even though they already knew all of this, I guess they couldn't take action until he was actually charged. Um they are talking about removing his stuff from Fortnite. And now they're pushing to remove him off of the streaming platform. He definitely what is Apple and Spotify doing? He definitely should be removed off of their streaming platforms. He definitely should be removed off his streaming platforms. As we have an Airbnb in Columbia City and have every TV play internet and not able to get the Michael Jackson movie. Y'all couldn't get the Michael Jackson movie. Well, let's go into that. Since since since since since since since grandma Kathy brought it up, let's go on into that. The Michael Jackson movie. But I knew the bad reviews were nothing but a bunch of bullshit. Y'all, if you haven't seen the Michael Jackson movie, go see it. Not only is it a good movie, but it's one of those feel-good movies when actually at the end of the movie you feel good. And throughout the movie, you just feel good. Um, if it it it they covered basically Michael Jackson from when he was a kid to I think like 88, 89, the late 80s. So basically from the early 70s to the late 80s, and uh I'm not gonna tell you a lot of the movie, I don't want to spoil it, but they did uh go into detail a little bit more and explain his his relationship with his right-hand man and guy named Bill. I didn't really, I'm one of the biggest Michael Jackson fans you will know, and I didn't know to the extent I didn't know about his right-hand man, Bill. So that was kind of like an interesting part of it for them to really detail that. But I do see some of the 70s and 80s babies. Um some of the 70s and 80s babies are are uh complaining, like it's uh it's nothing that we didn't see and and they tell the same story. But y'all gotta realize we old now. It's a lot it's a good majority of the people who going to watch the movie and going to see Michael, they don't know a lot of that shit. See, that's where the 70s and 80s now. Y'all don't realize we the old motherfuckers are in the in the room now. They not making that movie thinking about trying to uncover all type of shit that we didn't know. We grew up with Michael Jackson, we know every damn thing. But it's the it's the late 80s and the 90s and the 2000s people who just know Michael Jackson was popular, but they don't know all the stuff we know. So them so for those people, they enjoyed it even more. They're not making a movie based and trying to impress the old motherfuckers who know everything about Michael Jackson. Y'all gotta realize that all them seven, all my 70s and and early 80s, 60s babies that's trying to complain about the movie. Y'all gotta realize it's a good majority of the population that just know Michael Jackson was popular, but don't know about none of that stuff. There's a lot of people who in their early 30s, mid-30s, late 20s, early 20s, that didn't know about any of the Pepsi, didn't know the details behind the Pepsi and Michael Jackson getting his hair cut on fire, uh, didn't know, even didn't even know that Michael Jackson was, you know, used to get beat and hit by his father in such a way. They it's people that don't know this stuff. So I every time I see people like that's graduate that that were born in the 60s, 70s, and early 80s complaining. I was like, y'all gotta realize this ain't for y'all as far as they're not making a movie trying to uncover new stuff that we didn't know. They're trying to get the general population to know the Michael Jackson story. Just because we know it, we the old ones. They trying to, they they told that story for everybody who just for the younger people who don't even know anything about Michael Jackson besides that he's just a famous singer. So y'all gotta realize that I see people in my generation and older talking about I knew all this stuff already. Yeah, but it's a lot of people who don't, and so I thought it was an excellent movie. Jafar did an excellent job. Jafar did an excellent job. Um he sung. Now that's Michael's nephew who played Michael. His father is Jermaine. Jafar Jackson, who played Michael Jackson, Jermaine's nephew, I mean Jermaine's son, Michael Jackson's nephew, played Michael Jackson the pretty much the best you could possibly play Michael Jackson. I mean, his talking voice, his talking voice sounds just like Michael Jackson. I don't even know how he did it. I don't even know how he did it. I don't even know how he did it. He sounds just like Michael. His dance moves were as close as you can get. Now we know ain't it's I don't think a person will ever walk this earth who will be able to dance on the level of Michael Jackson, but just to come even close, Jafar is about as close as you can get to Michael Jackson and his dance moves. Give him credit for that. Um, if you didn't know about how Joe Jackson, Michael's father, how he used to put hands on Michael, and and and he was. Very strict and would not hesitate to whoop ass. If you didn't know that, you immediately probably within 20 minutes of the movie will hate Joe Jackson. There were several, several, several whoopings of Michael Jackson when he was a kid. They went right into that. Excellent, excellent, excellent movie. After the movie, the people didn't even want to leave the theater. Movie was so damn good, people didn't even want to leave the theater. I got people texting me. I had people texting me saying this was the best movie they ever saw. I got messaged saying I've seen it for the third time, which is proof of how they tried to sabotage this movie. Excellent, excellent movie. People at the movie theater can't even, they're getting up dancing. I ain't never been to a movie where it was this interactive. People dancing on the on the floor, people clapping at the end, people just socializing after it's over. Like nobody even wanted to leave the movie theater. Anyone that tell me that this movie wasn't good got me fucked up. The people speak for themselves. I was at the movie theater, clapping at the end, dancing in between. Every time Michael Jackson did a dance routine, somebody in the damn crowd would get up and dance with him. Man, this this if you ain't seen this movie, take y'all behind somewhere and go check it out. It stopped before that era. And I believe, and they already said it's gonna be a part two. So who didn't go? Let's see. Uh Taperson said I didn't go yet. I'm going this week. I guess I'm going to bring my tissues. Yeah, definitely, definitely, definitely. Who all saw the movie? Who all saw the movie? Put it, put it in the comments. Tracy said Jafar did fabulously and held it strong. I was struggling to sit still, not sing and not dance, but I still feel Jackson's are still trying to pay their bills in Michael's name. Yeah, Michael. Oh shoot, I gotta put my plug in. Michael uh definitely carried his family, man. And when you look at how much Michael, he could have been went solo. He loved his family, man, because he could have gone solo way before he actually did. And even this is the thing. Thriller was the best-selling album of all time. He didn't even get to tour for it because he was torn with his brothers. He was torn with his brothers. And he didn't even get to tour for thriller. What was Michael what wish Michael was oh yeah, Michael would have loved to see this. Yeah, everybody everybody is saying giving them good reviews. I mean now. Now excellent, excellent, excellent, excellent. Like I said, one of those movies that's gonna make you feel good. One of those movies that's gonna make you feel good after you see it. I ain't seen one of those in a while. We needed a good feel good movie to come out.

SPEAKER_02

What we got in the chat? Lee says if you can see it.

SPEAKER_04

The concert scenes are bumping just like when you go to a real concert. Yeah, I saw it, man.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, man. Go see it. Go see it. Go see it. Go see it. Go see it. That's all I'ma say.

SPEAKER_04

I see you know they still get checks from the distinct. Yeah. Look, Michael taking good care of his family.

SPEAKER_02

Mike taking good care of his family. Oh yeah, thank you.

Michael’s Giving And Modern “Philanthropy”

SPEAKER_04

I'm glad Elise brought this up too. She said, Flo, I'm the biggest MJ fan. I liked how they show how generous he was. Right. So Elise, let me tell you about this. Some of the younger viewers, you know, in their mid-30s and under, early 30s, 20s, they didn't even, they don't even know that Michael Jackson gave away, gave so much money away and did so many charitable, charitable things. See, all the old people who seen it talking about they nothing new to them, it ain't for y'all. Like I said, you'd be surprised how many people didn't even know Michael Jackson was a humanitarian and that he gave away a lot of money. They didn't even know that. So it was great that the movie showed that.

SPEAKER_02

It was great that the movie showed that.

SPEAKER_04

I thought everybody knew that, but then I realized after the fact when people were saying, like, I didn't realize Mike was so giving and did so much. Like, I'm like, that was like the main thing we all knew about Mike. We knew about how much money he gave away and how much of a humanitarian was. That was we knew about that just as much as we know about his dancing and singing. It was like he can sing, he can dance, and he a humanitarian that gives away a lot of money.

SPEAKER_02

That was a great I'm glad you brought that up, Elise.

SPEAKER_04

I'm glad you brought that up. Like I said, y'all will be surprised how many younger people didn't know. At least, yes, I hate how people these days label themselves philanthropists and have actually only helped their own mates. Yeah, I like that, Desi. Desi said, uh, Desi said, uh, at least uh, yes, I hate how these people these days label themselves philanthropists and have actually only helped their own mates.

SPEAKER_02

It's crazy.
