When Someone Disrespects You!

Tiffany Antoci

I heard this from an interview that Mel Robbins had and I loved this so I wanted to When confronted with negative behavior, our most powerful reaction can often be silence. Instead of engaging in their disrespect, adding distance—both emotionally and physically—allows you to regain control. This pause is a moment of power, giving you space to reflect before responding. By not reacting impulsively, you communicate that their negativity doesn’t have a hold on you. After you pause, you calmly say, "This is below my standard for a response," and say nothing else. This simple statement sets a firm boundary, without engaging in their drama. It conveys self-respect and asserts that their behavior doesn’t deserve your energy. By maintaining your composure and holding silence, you take back your power and demonstrate that you won’t be drawn into negativity. Silence, paired with strong boundaries, speaks volumes.
