Jessica Dueñas was celebrated as Kentucky’s 2019 Teacher of the Year—while secretly battling alcohol addiction. Behind the awards and accolades, she was drinking heavily, hiding withdrawals, and fighting to keep her life from unraveling.

In this powerful conversation, Jessica shares how she went from high-performing but secretly suffering to openly sober and thriving. She talks about growing up in a first-generation Latino household, struggling with body image and disordered eating, and how those patterns connected to her alcoholism. She also reveals how a viral op-ed telling her truth became the first step in her recovery journey.

This episode is a reminder that addiction wears many faces—and that telling our stories can free us from shame and guilt while helping others do the same.

Listen in to hear how Jessica went from bottomless to sober and why your story, too, has the power to heal.
