Advancing global livestock solutions: Phibro's portfolio growth
Phibro Animal Health made a landmark move in the animal health industry with its recent acquisition of the medicated feed additive product portfolio and certain water-soluble products from Zoetis, Inc. This pivotal expansion marks a significant advancement in fulfilling the company's mission of optimizing global animal health for a more sustainable world.
During our conversation at the World Pork Expo with Scott Fry, Director of Swine Business, and Larry Miller, Chief Operating Officer, we explored how this acquisition transforms Phibro's capabilities. The newly expanded portfolio brings scientifically validated products marketed in approximately 100 countries worldwide under Phibro's umbrella, complementing it existing offerings.
What makes this development particularly exciting for swine producers is the comprehensive coverage it now provides across the entire production cycle. Phibro has traditionally excelled in solutions for the sow and nursery phases, but can now deliver expert support from birth through finishing. This complete approach combines medicated feed additives, branded nutrition products, customized autogenous vaccines, and mineral nutrition solutions —allowing producers to implement more integrated health management strategies tailored to its specific challenges.

To learn more, visit wwwpahccom. During the World Pork Expo, we caught up with Scott Fry, director of Swine Business for Phibro, and Larry Miller, chief Operating Officer with Phibro. We talked about what's ahead and what it all means for livestock producers. Larry, what are some of the latest updates from Phibro?
Larry Miller:Well, we have just completed an acquisition a few months ago of some medicated feed additives and other water-soluble products that we are adding to our portfolio. This is a global acquisition that brought us some very unique and well-respected, well-tested scientific products that are marketed in almost 100 markets, 100 countries around the world. So integration is going really smoothly according to our plan and we've been really really excited about bringing those together as combined solutions with our existing fibro products our legacy fibro products to offer more and different choices to our customers.
Sarah Muirhead:So talk to us, then, about this expanding portfolio and what's the strategy behind that.
Larry Miller:So it really allows us to bring different classes of compounds to our customers, different products that maybe have different combinations to be used together, and those are in the Medicaid and Feed Additive portfolio. But we also have branded nutrition specialty products. We have in the United States, customized vaccines autogenous vaccines and we also have mineral specialty products. We have in the United States customized vaccines autogenous vaccines and we also have mineral nutrition products. So it allows us to bring different products from these combined portfolios because our customers are interested in, you know, managing and addressing their health solutions in livestock. So usually that's not just a one product approach, it's a combination of approaches, maybe through therapeutic treatment, through prevention and through health management, to affect the overall health of the animal, as well as the expertise that our Phibro field team offers.
Sarah Muirhead:So, Scott, then how does the medicated feed additive acquisition? How does that align with Phibro mission and vision?
Scott Fry:Very much aligns very well with just our dedication to focus on livestock and protein production. That's really core to our business, our legacy business and who we are and what we focus on for the market. So strong alignment there.
Sarah Muirhead:What's been the response so far from US producers?
Scott Fry:It's been very positive and very, very good discussions that we've had with customers. They're happy to see it in our portfolio again, something back that quarter our business, and so lots of really good responses there Also provides more solutions that we can offer them as well and provide mutual value.
Sarah Muirhead:So are you focused, then, on a specific phase of the production cycle? Walk us through that, yeah so great question.
Scott Fry:It really opens it up. We're back into all segments of production. You know, prior to the acquisition really focused on that sow and nursery phase. This acquisition opens up that grow, finish and finishing period and so really get it from birth all the way to finish. Now with our full portfolio.
Sarah Muirhead:What are some things that swine producers should be paying attention to right now, and how is Phibro helping them through this process?
Scott Fry:I process. I mean, obviously I think disease threats are always top of mind and that's continues to to be top of mind and, and the big thing is, is with our endogenous vaccine business and our diagnostics and service and expertise that we can provide there is really we can be proactive and get ahead of those things from a vaccination and treatment perspective to make sure we put the right thing in the bottle for the pig and do what's right for the pig. And really, as Larry mentioned, these products are backed by science and we can bring in our MFA portfolio into that again if that's what is needed for the particular challenge that the customer is dealing with.
Sarah Muirhead:Yeah, always pay attention to what's going on on that disease front. It seems to be ever-changing in a lot of cases. So what are some of the questions then that you're getting from swine producers? What are they coming to you looking for information on?
Scott Fry:Yeah, really improve overall herd health and be more efficient in doing it right and improving accuracy, I would say, and being more targeted in that approach. And again, that starts with our vaccine business and our expertise from our team. That's been a lot. We've done a lot of work there around PERS and flu and sequences and so on and so forth this year. Lots of activity and good interactions with customers.
Sarah Muirhead:How can producers learn more about Phibro and the products that you have to offer?
Scott Fry:Yeah, visit our website at wwwpahccom for all the information. Of course they can also reach out to their account rep. Keep engaged and we'll keep them up to speed on the latest information. If you're here at World Pork, of course you can come by and see us at our booth. Love to chat with you.
Sarah Muirhead:Final comments that you'd like to, or key takeaways you'd like to leave our audience with.
Scott Fry:Yeah, just you know, we're committed to this Part of the business medicated feed and ontogenous vaccine business and the nutritional segment of our business as well and we're committed to overall health of our US swine production systems and so, again, acquisition that we that occurred earlier this year is very much in line with our mission of healthy animals, healthy food, healthy world.
Sarah Muirhead:So Final comments from you Larry.
Larry Miller:Just what Scott said. I mean we are really excited about having an expanded portfolio, being able to bring different types and more solutions to our customers to help them solve some of their health challenges.
