Good Girl Gone Human
Good Girl Gone Human is an ongoing conversation that explores what it means to re-humanize ourselves. After a lifetime of trying to be seen as “good,” Holly and Kristina are diving into the idea of what it would feel like to put that label down- and embrace the whole spectrum of their humanity. This conversation leans into the big messy questions, like: what are the risks of putting the good label down? What would happen if we did accept the whole spectrum of our humanity? They look at the ways we dehumanize ourselves in the name of being good and the tools they’ve found for reclaiming those parts of ourselves we deem “bad.” There is an invitation for anyone who has felt dehumanized to join the conversation and re-humanize themselves in community.

Ep 4: Dismantling Pedestals: Humanizing Those We Admire
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This week Holly and Kristina unpack how breaking down pedestals allows us to be more human. They unpack why we might put people on pedestals and the impact it can have on our lives, and how it can lead to de-humanizing each other. The person who we pedestalize is left with the responsibility to uphold our values, while we outsource our power to them. They talk about this idea on a cultural level with examples of actors, singers, and politicians, while acknowledging how this impact also touches our day to day lives and relationships. As we learn to de-pedestalize people, we allow them to be human again. In that process, we re-humanize ourselves as well.
