Good Girl Gone Human
Good Girl Gone Human is an ongoing conversation that explores what it means to re-humanize ourselves. After a lifetime of trying to be seen as “good,” Holly and Kristina are diving into the idea of what it would feel like to put that label down- and embrace the whole spectrum of their humanity. This conversation leans into the big messy questions, like: what are the risks of putting the good label down? What would happen if we did accept the whole spectrum of our humanity? They look at the ways we dehumanize ourselves in the name of being good and the tools they’ve found for reclaiming those parts of ourselves we deem “bad.” There is an invitation for anyone who has felt dehumanized to join the conversation and re-humanize themselves in community.

This week Holly and Kristina are joined by Claire Margit for a beautiful and vulnerable conversation. Claire is a massage therapist and teaches a workshop called Cell Story: Where Science and Soul Collide. In this episode, she shares about the things in her life that led up to the culmination of her current work. Her journey with sobriety invited in a new sort of spiritual awareness and understanding of God. The idea that we are wounded, not wicked, changed the way she related to herself and others. Over time, she could see the story she told herself- that in order to be loved she had to be broken. A breakthrough day in her pre-med classes revealed to her the way that her biology believes the story she tells it. This idea that our thoughts and beliefs impact our biology changed her relationship with her body and the stories she told herself. Through personal storytelling and scientific facts, Claire invites us to recognize the relationship between our thoughts and our bodies.
