Susan Aguayo
Susan Aguayo was born in Peru and immigrated to New York City at age five.
In 2015, Susan tragically lost her daughter to perinatal depression—a turning point that led her to found Kassy’s Kause, a nonprofit supporting maternal mental health. Finding few local resources, she became a certified Community Health Worker and Doula to better serve her community.
Her advocacy earned her honors such as Woman of the Year by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and New Mexico State Mother of the Year in 2019. In 2020, she ran for State Senate to spotlight underserved issues like maternal mental health. She now serves as State Coordinator and Spanish-language Support Group Facilitator for Postpartum Support International.
Susan is passionate about ensuring no mother feels alone and that families have the support they need during the most vulnerable times.
