Aaisha Alvi
Aaisha Alvi is a writer and postpartum psychosis (PPP) awareness advocate, and the author of A Mom Like That: A Memoir of Postpartum Psychosis. Her book has received praise from reproductive mental health experts and organizations including Postpartum Support International (PSI), Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP), and Library Journal.
Because of the extreme difficulty she faced in accessing care for her own PPP, Aaisha has made it her mission to increase public and provider awareness of postpartum psychosis in order to prevent unnecessary suffering and tragedy. She frequently presents to clinical, academic, and community audiences on the misdiagnosis of PPP, and is an active volunteer with PSI, where educational materials she created are featured in the organization's professional trainings.
