The Your Story Matters Podcast Episode 27: Don Bott
Our brains are hardwired for connection and stories. This podcast is all about amplifying both. Now more than ever our stories matter. Each week The Your Story Matters Podcast will feature a new guest sharing their "why" and stories. On this episode I was privileged to have a conversation with Don Bott. Don Bott is an author and award winning educator. He has been an educator for nearly his entire adult life and just published his first book, Forty Years Forty Stories: Lessons for educators in their first or final year or anytime in between. After teaching one year in Santa Cruz, he returned to Stockton Unified School District, where he had been a student. He took a job as an English and Journalism teacher at Stagg High School. Now after 34 years as a classroom teacher, Bott transitioned to becoming the school's instructional coach. In that capacity he has helped all teachers, new hires in particular. He has taken on several initiatives in his seven years as coach, and he is especially proud of the school's teacher retention numbers in recent years, thanks in part to the culture he is trying to build as a teacher leader. I am so excited for you to get to know and learn from Don Bott!
