Hitchhiker's Guide to Humanity
Bite-sized episodes, big perspective shifts.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to Humanity is the weirdest, wildest, most enlightening trip you never knew you needed.
Ever wonder why we’re here on Earth or why we’re expected to pay bills, feel feelings, and heal ancestral trauma with zero instructions? Yeah, same. But don’t worry, we're in this together.
Created by somatic energy practitioner and author Erica Chapman, Hitchhiker’s Guide to Humanity is a bi-weekly exploration of consciousness, healing, and what it means to be human.
Erica was raised on SNL, Scooby-Doo, and pizza rolls, with a side-eye for authority and a hunger for deeper truth. She’s a certified energy healer with a background in non-profit orgs, communications, and digital marketing. She holds a degree in Journalism & Advertising from CMU, and is the author of Teach Me to Forget, published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers.

Hitchhiker's Guide to Humanity
Hitchhiker’s Guide to: Are We Living in a Brave New World, 1984, or Both?
Are we living in Orwell’s 1984, Huxley’s Brave New World, or some cursed mashup of both?
Censorship? Check. Distractions? Check. Billionaires hoarding wealth like emotionally stunted demons? Check.
In this episode, we tear through the illusion of normalcy and ask:
What happens when people stop thinking for themselves and start defending the very systems keeping them stuck?
We cover:
- Why dystopia doesn’t need chains, just comfort and routine
- How to build a belief system that’s actually yours
- Why are people defending the 0.0001%?
- The insidious creep of fascism through media, money, and fear
- Why real revolution starts inside your own nervous system
Also: patriarchy, trans rights, immigration myths, and the dumbass idea that borders should matter more than human lives. No one owns your mind unless you give it away. You get to believe what you feel is true, just make sure it’s not hurting someone else in the process.
Your host, Erica, is a Somatic Energy Healer and author of Teach Me to Forget (Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers). Raised on a diet of SNL, Scooby-Doo, and pizza rolls; she brings a side-eye for authority and a hunger for deeper truth. Are we really just living in 1984 and a brave New World both? there could the arguments for both of them 1984 was all about censorship, trying to fool people into thinking certain things and taking away your identity so that you could be one with the party and then you've got brave New World, which was about receiving what you thought you wanted and divided so much that you don’t question your station in life, that you didn't really care anymore, right? the theme is taking away the meaning of life for people and and replacing it with something something familiar and routine right if people don't change, they can't resist, if people don't think they can't affect the majority right? and we've been sold a bill of goods. I mean this more obvious than ever, and I think the majority of people see this, but there's still people defending billionaires in the common section of social media people who probably make like 40 grand a year 35 grand year defending people who make more money than then i don't even know didn't need it then they could literally use money to get rid of famine to feed every hungry child to the whole world to change the world, but they don't instead, they continue accumulating money instead they continue to try to push an Agenda on people and separate us, they will not win they won't win they've already lost because what a fascist regime needs or followers and they don't have that a very small group and yes, they have the power in the money right now, but the people that's what we have numbers and they cannot have what they have without Us they cannot survive without us, we could talk all day about their motive for wanting that much money for being that greedy in the end, it comes down the human emotion, human trauma they're trying to replace something in their life that they think that this amount of money and power will will buy them. Will give them that somehow if they just get this next thing they we feel that complete hole, but what they don't know is all the money in the world doesn't make them a better person that if you don't go inside yourself and feel what it is that is keeping you from feeling whole with without all of this doesn't matter people who have that much money have lost their humanity they think of people as objects steppingstones to what they want and that's how they treat people and they want you to treat people like that the hungry snap benefit people while they get tax breaks, they could literally feed everybody on snap they want you to believe this wake the fuck up the more extravagant of news that they put out the more distracted we get don't get distracted from the real issue from the real enemy from the real anything because they will pull the wall over your eyes and then sneak something in the back i know that we are searching for normalcy right now, especially some type something to say help me save me from what is going on and it's easy to pick and choose certain things spirituality craft religion all of these things that are larger than us to try to take that place, but in the and it's our humanity that's gonna help. I'm not discounting any of that. It's all beliefs. I believe in energy deeply believe that we have energetic, imprints and that we can manipulate our energy and that we can our energy affects other people, and it affects everybody in the world, and you can measure it in all of these things I believe that I feel it in my body they can't take that away once you know, you know and unlike the book 1984 in the movie they can't take that away not without your permission they can't my mind is my own no one owns that no one gets to have that no one gets to tell me what to believe I choose what I believe I discern what is true and what isn't and I trust my body to let me know I'm afraid many people on this planet are disconnected from their bodies and they don't know the difference and they're busy pointing their fingers at somebody else when they should be looking inside the enemy is not one person. It's an idea it's a mindset it's this idea that this belief has to be the belief of all, and that this belief system that is being pushed upon us is the only one there is that you can't have your own and that's bullshit everybody gets to have their don't beliefs everybody gets to have their own way of of going throughout this world if we just respected that if everybody was fed, everybody had healthcare everybody had a job they enjoyed. There would be no crime. I don't believe no crime no like people would just enjoy themselves. Maybe be a little boring but boring is better than shitty I suppose and maybe there would be crime but it wouldn't be this evil miracle like patriarchal bullshit that we've been living in women like me would be able to jog at night without thinking or get attacked do you know there's jobs that I won't even apply four because I know I'll be alone. There's so many things that single women can't do because men are disgusting creeps that's what the society has bread, men who think that they can do whatever they want to women or those who identifies women like the whole hate for trans. People is completely misguided. It is a Ruth, they don't care they really don't care they want you to care so again, they can slip something out the back door slip something in. I don't think you care I think they want you to care so that's why you care when it comes down to it. You might not even no, somebody is trans. I don't understand they're literally not hurting anyone they just wanna live their lives. How can you be against someone just wanting to live their life what in you says that you get to press a belief on someone else what makes you God what makes you and your energy so important that you can take away something from someone else you don't get to decide that if someone wants to believe in aliens, let them believe in them there are plenty of people who think the Earth is flat let them believe it they're wrong, but it doesn't matter because it's what they believe and trying to convince someone who believe something like that isn't gonna work they're gonna double down but if you just accept it, let them believe it. It's a moot point at this point like what is it gonna do? What do you think these flat earths are gonna be astronauts and they're gonna endanger like just let them believe it arguing with someone's belief system is so stupid. No one changes their belief system unless they want it to change arguing is completely ridiculous and doesn't work if it worked we wouldn't be in the mess. We are now can you change someone's mind absolutely but to want to have it changed they need an incentive to have it changed. They need to be in a safe place to be able to hear information you cannot force someone to change their beliefs. It won't work people who do that people who brainwash other people manipulators whatever they do it insidiously they do it by inch by inch by inch feeding it consistency routine and little by little you start to change certain things it's an insidious process. It's not something that's just like damn you're done and then all of a sudden you look up and you believe something that you're like why do I believe that not me I have carefully curated my belief system, but I also hold and reserve space to change my mind i don't think everyone is like that that's what it takes to like. That's why you don't deify anyone that's why you don't put anybody in a pesto because then you can't change your mind without it being attached to you if you have your value system in one part system, one belief system and that belief system is proven to be wrong or crappy or whatever you feel like you're losing part of you, you have to separate yourself from that system. You have to separate yourself from that group and the first way to do that is to go within to find out what you actually believe on your own, not with someone else's fucking telling you, what do you believe on your own, would you feel in your heart in your soul in your body that that is what you think your teeth into that is what you scream from the top of your lungs that is what you believe you feel it if what you believe keeps another human from living their life keeps another human in suffering or pain then check yourself check yourself check inside and see if that's really what you believe or if it's what they want you to believe you really think immigrants is the problem you really think people coming here from other countries is a problem why would that be a problem? Literally everyone except Native Americans are immigrants to this country it wouldn't exist not the way it does without people coming from other countries what makes it so different now why should land have that much power over humans wanting to live somewhere, where are we giving land all of that power and borders it makes no sense this world is meant to be lived in. It doesn't matter where the fuck you go if you're a human and you were born, you should be allowed to go wherever the fuck you what it's all rules that have been made up by people who like power and money, they make the rules, but they don't exist unless we follow them i didn't i have on my bingo card that I would live through a revolution but here we are it is a mindset change. Human evolution is about mindset change earths evolution is about a change in energy it all comes from figuring out what you actually believe separate from groups you might surprise yourself
