In this Gemini New Moon episode, we explore the powerful connection between communication, the nervous system, breathwork, and the stories that shape our reality.

Gemini, ruled by Mercury, invites us to become more conscious of how we communicate, not only with others, but with ourselves. Together, we dive into the hidden narratives, protective patterns, and nervous system responses that influence our relationships, wellbeing, and daily choices.

This episode explores how childhood adaptations, parts work, and unconscious beliefs can continue to drive our thoughts, behaviours, and communication patterns in adulthood. Through a trauma-informed lens, you'll learn how curiosity can become a pathway to healing and self-awareness.

We also discuss the impact of phone use, social media, and information overload on sleep, stress levels, and nervous system regulation—particularly during perimenopause and menopause. Discover why modern technology can leave us feeling more dysregulated, and how conscious communication can support emotional resilience and deeper connection.

You'll also hear why breathwork remains one of the most accessible and powerful tools for changing patterns, regulating the nervous system, and creating lasting transformation.

So go and grab a cup of ceremonial grade cacao and join us as we explore what moves through us, that which is divinely led, so we can all move from fear towards more faith. Thank you so much for being here with us today Hi, a really warm welcome to this Gemini New Moon episode. I'm gonna be going into some really deep subjects, and I'm gonna start with the practicals, and then I don't wanna waste any time really supporting you. So I'm so glad that you're here, and thank you for letting me guide you through this lunation. I hope there's some real juice in here for you. I will be in Italy as the episode drops, so I thought I would just drop that time in. This Gemini New Moon is happening in London on Monday the 15th of June at 3:53 AM, in Italy at 4:53 AM. In Los Angeles, it's happening on Sunday, June 14th at 7:54 PM, in New York, June 14th at 10:53 PM. And I always encourage us to take a breath and to ground a little, but probably even more important for this moon because Gemini rules the lungs. What I'm gonna be delving into is communication, since Mercury is the ruling planet of Gemini and rules and governs communication. I'm gonna be speaking about phones, stories that shape our lives, and the nervous system patterns behind them. So as we explore these themes of connection and curiosity and communication, I'd love you to take that deep breath. Communication isn't just what's happening between us and another person. Communication is happening every moment of every day. So whether it's the thoughts that we're thinking, the stories we tell ourselves, the way that we interpret events, the messages that our nervous system are sending to our organs or that the environment are sending to our body and then to our brains, the words we speak, the messages we send, the content we consume, all of this is communication. From that trauma-informed perspective, communication is rarely just information. I will speak to safety here because the nervous system is constantly asking, without us even realizing a lot of the time, "Am I safe? Am I accepted? Do I belong? Am I enough? Will I be rejected? Will I be abandoned?" Many of the stories we're carrying into adulthood begin as intelligent adaptations created by the younger parts of ourselves. So in our five-part series about business, we talk about internal family systems parts, and I weave this through a lot of my one-to-one or group containers as well. Parts work, internal family systems, it can play a really big part in this Gemini moon. So perhaps there's a people-pleasing part that's trying to keep everyone happy, or a perfectionist part trying to prevent criticism, or an overachieving part trying to earn worthiness, or an anxious part scanning for danger and risk, or a withdrawn part protecting you from disappointment. Remember that parts are, not problems to fix. They're protective strategies that develop for a good reason. But the challenge is when we communicate within ourselves or externally from a wounded or protective part, rather than our grounded, present self. We're often just cr- recreating old patterns without realizing it. So this moon can really show us where we'd like to put our energy and our intention into communicating from that healed part. And that's where Gemini's gifts become really powerful. So Gemini asks us to become curious, not judgmental. Curious instead of saying, "Why am I like this?" We ask, "Ooh, what part of me is speaking right now?" Instead of believing every thought, especially those invasive ones, we become an observer of the thoughts. Instead of automatically repeating old stories like, "Oh, this always happens. That person always reacts that way. This thing always goes wrong," we begin questioning them. Because not every thought is true. Not every fear is prophecy, and not every story deserves a lifetime contract, right? I really wanted to speak a little on phone use here. I've been noticing myself whenever I go into a stress pattern, I go to my phone and I start to consume content. During Gemini season, I have been craving so much information. This is one of the gifts of Gemini season: curious, wanting to learn, wanting to communicate and share these ideas and thoughts. But when it tips out of balance, perhaps those addictive qualities can come in or over phone use. So I wanted to talk about that, something that many of us are doing every single day without fully understanding the impact, like looking at the phones before bed, or the phones being the first thing that you pick up in the morning, or just that scroll hole that we all fall into every now and then. I wanted to look at it through the lens of women going through perimenopause and menopause because our sleep may already be under pressure. As progesterone declines, many women experience lighter sleep, interrupted sleep, increased anxiety, night waking, and reduced resilience to stress. Estrogen fluctuations can affect our temperature regulation, have you noticed those hot nights, mood, and circadian rhythms. So at the same time, modern technology is asking us to be more engaged and asking our brains to stay alert long after our bodies are ready for rest. That light, and I do call it junk light, emitted from phones, tablets, screens, it starts to suppress melatonin production, and melatonin is known as a sleep hormone, but it's not just simply that. It's actually one of the body's most important biological timing signals, so it tells the brain and body that darkness has arrived and that it's time for us to sleep or repair, recover, rest. So when we're scrolling later in the evening, we're not only exposing ourselves to artificial light, we're exposing ourselves to stimulation, and that's emotional stimulation, mental stimulation, social stimulation. Our brains don't necessarily distinguish between a real-life signal, like a stressful news headline at ten PM So the nervous system responds, and that means cortisol can rise and alertness increases, and then the body prepares for action when actually we need to be softening and relaxing and surrendering. And that deeper piece is many of us are- aren't reaching for our phones because we need that information. In fact, most of us has- have got too much information buzzing around our heads. We're reaching for them because we want the regulation. We're tired and possibly lonely and overwhelmed and feeling restless or uncertain, so we scroll. And there are so many connections that I've formed through social media or online groups, so I can really speak to the real-life benefits of them. But what if that thing that we're trying to regulate is quietly dysregulating us? So I'm speaking about it so much on this moon because Gemini new moon really asks us where we're seeking that connection. When are we doing that and picking up our phone? And are we doing it to connect, or are we doing it to escape? Are we doing it for comfort, validation, relief? So it's just asking us to think about the way that we communicate. And we often underestimate the power of words Yet every thought, and remember that Gemini governs the lungs, the breath, which is so connected to our thoughts, every thought creates a physiological response. So if we're constantly scrolling and telling ourselves, "Oh, look, I'm not as good as everyone. I'm falling behind. I'm failing. I'm not enough. Something bad's going to happen," then your nervous system res- is responding to those statements like they're real, and those stress hormones increase, and your muscles tighten, and your b- breathing then becomes shallow. And when your breathing is shallow, it's you're breathing too quickly, which is a hyperventilation. It's a type of hyperventilation, over-breathing. And then we just go into a loop of over-breathing, overthinking, the body being in a survival threat response. So over time, that mental health can start to decline because those unconscious narratives become biological reality. And we know the body keeps the score, keeps the score of the stories we tell. Likewise, communication within relationships has measurable impacts on health and wellbeing, and research has consistently shown that healthy relationships are associated with lower stress levels, improved immune function, greater emotional resilience, and even increased longevity. Because feeling emotionally safe changes our physiology. When we feel heard, seen, understood, our nervous system settles. It regulates. Our window of tolerance opens up. Our heart rate lowers. Stress h- hormones decrease, and connection becomes medicine. And this is so important around midlife when perhaps the children might be getting a little bit older and their focus might be with their friends. That second spring, so they're sort of going through their first spring if you're, a parent of, teenage children. They might be going through their first spring, also known as menarche. You might be going through your second spring, known as perimenopause, and your friendships become more important under the spotlight. So that connection really does become medicine. So let me speak about conscious versus unconscious communication. Unconscious communication could sound like, "You never listen," or, "You always do this," or, "They don't really care about me. I'm too much. I'm not enough. I'm unlovable." Whereas conscious communication sounds more like, "When this thing happens, I start to notice I feel hurt," or, "A part of me feels uncertain." Or, "Can you help me understand?" Or, "This is my boundary." So can you see how one might create defensiveness and the other creates a bit more connection? Maybe, challenging connection, but connection that wants repair. One could repeat old wounds, but the other's creating healing, and this applies just as much internally as it does externally. So we know Gemini's symbology is represented by the twins, the polarity, but that lives within us. So how often do we speak to ourselves in ways that we would never speak to someone we love? How often does your inner critic get a louder voice than the inner nurturer? And how often are you mistaking self-judgment for self-improvement? Gemini's reminding us that language is creative force. Gemini wants you to awaken to your creative potential. And I hear over and over, and I have said over and over, I'm not a creative being, and I'm just waking up to the fact that it doesn't matter if I draw or paint or sculpt or whatever. I don't do those things, or I'm starting to, um, but not traditionally. I'm a creative being because I am creating my reality with my thoughts just by being in existence, so I'm creating everything externally. So I'm using the power of my thoughts, my breath, my communication to consciously create my life in a more harmonious way, and the moon phases are so helpful for this. So helpful because you get that rhythm where it doesn't feel so overwhelming. And this Gemini season, I've really tried to ask myself, how can I deepen my social connections and ask more enriching questions and be a better conversationalist? And I have to ask myself that first. Where am I gaslighting myself and not opening up expanded conscious internal communication? Because what happens,, if we're carrying stress or unresolved trauma, we just repeat stories that become beliefs, and we know beliefs become behaviors, and behaviors become habits, and your habits are your life, right? So if you're really unconsciously saying or believing, "I'm not worthy" I may overwork, or people please, or stay silent, or settle for less, or abandon my needs. Whereas if I believe my voice matters, I communicate differently, and I choose differently, and I live differently. So the most powerful transformation is rarely changing your circumstances overnight, but it's becoming aware of the story running beneath them. And what's the most beautiful thing about awareness is it creates choice, and choice creates freedom, right? As a Sagittarius, that is so important for me, and I know that my, my tribe really value their freedom, right? So for you, what can Gemini do to help you create that freedom? What stories can you stop rehearsing, or what conversations are you avoiding? What parts of you need to be heard? And a little word here on non-verbal communication. There's a lot in here about conversations, but before the age of seven, whilst we're developing in the womb until, around the age of seven, and obviously this is different for every person, we're generally communicating in other ways than verbally. So sometimes we can't express parts of us that are holding difficult emotions and are ready to be really held seen and transmuted, and this is where nervous system regulation, somatic work social connection, movement can really support you into that more self-led energy version of you, bringing to those healed parts into your life. Hopefully, there's been a lot in here for you, but my biggest takeaway would be practice breathwork. Breathwork could be one of the more accessible ways to rewrite your stories because you're working so deeply with the nervous system to start undoing some of those patterns that could just be running over and over subliminally, and it just, it brings them up in a way that is manageable often and easily, integratable into your everyday life. And you can do these more cathartic breathwork releases, and they can bring up old trauma patterns quicker, but what tends to happen, these, consciously connected breaths or the Wim Hof style breaths,, there is a place for them, but unless you've got time to sit and go through what's coming up subconsciously, often it can burn you out or it can frazzle your nervous system because you don't have the time, space, and resources you need to integrate them. And that's why in the portal, in our membership, we offer breathwork every month or a recommended breathwork to practice each month, each season, because you can work in a really nervous system friendly paced way for a woman's changing body through her seasons of her life. So some seasons I'm doing loads more deeper breathworks 'cause I've got capacity to work, with some older patterns, and sometimes I need to back off and just,, focus on a diaphragmatic breath, which might just, I say just help, but help my, digestive system or help me to sleep. Other times it's gonna be more cathartic because I've got the space to do that, and that's how I help clients as well, especially if we're working on retreats or one-to-ones. We will prescribe,, breathwork or pranayama that will support you to meet you where you're at. So it's such a great medicine, the breath, 'cause it can meet you where you're at but still be so supportive. I just have said this so many times, that breathing is the thing that you're doing more than anything, more than you sleep, more than you think, more than you eat, more than you drink. You're breathing consciously, you're breathing unconsciously, and it's the thing that's with you until, this life ends. So if you're not working with the breath already, I really invite you to do that. So just do it right now. Take that deep breath. And in the portal, in the healing portal, I've got about 30 different breathworks that are available immediately. Some of them to expand your consciousness, some of them to, support sleep, digestion, to expand what you want to manifest. There are so many different breathworks in there. Head to the show notes, get that seven free day trial and just start practicing. And what's the most important thing with all of our practices? Not the intens- not the intensity, but the consistency. A safe body, a safe nervous system is one that has consistency, that has routine, that has some amount of predictability. And we can't control the world or in external circumstances, but we can start to create some rhythms in our life that support us. So I really urge you to go and check out that seven free day trial or come for our live new moon circle in Gemini where we will be practicing these techniques, live or you can catch the replay and all the replays go into the healing portal as well. So that's happening on Monday the 15th of June at 7:30 PM UK time. And I'd love to hear your takeaways I'd love to hear your intentions for this new moon. Remember inside those circles we work with somatic listening tools, we're tracking our health, we are co-regulating, we're doing the deep work cycle breakers, cy- cycle starters. So if you're looking for that community that are consciously working with their health, living seasonally, that are curious, that are connected, then this is a space for you. So thank you so much for being here. Sending you so many new moon blessings, and I'll see you soon Thank you a million times over for joining us on this podcast episode.
