After the Uganda episode went live, I found myself going back and rereading a recent travel magazine feature about mountain gorilla trekking. It described the journey beautifully — the hike, the anticipation, the careful approach into the forest.

But it also made me realize something.

I had told the story of what happened.
I hadn’t really talked about what it felt like to stand there.

This short, more personal follow-up isn’t about the itinerary or the trek itself. It’s about the moment inside the forest — the quiet, the awareness of being tolerated in another world, and why an hour with the gorillas ended up defining the entire trip.

I placed this episode in the subscriber feed because it felt less like a travel story and more like a conversation I would have after the microphones were turned off.

If you listened to the Uganda episode and sensed there was something deeper behind it, this is that reflection.
