Welcome And What This Show Is

SPEAKER_01

Hello and welcome to my podcast. My name is Karen Murphy, and I'm a certified life and mindset coach, and I help women happy and holy. Each week I'll bring you tools and insights to help you on your journey to the height. I'm so glad you're here. Hello and welcome back. Today I am so thrilled and honored to have a special guest with me. Her name is Teresa Matters. Teresa and I, I think we met probably in 2024 through Metanoia Catholic. We were in the same certification program through them. And as part of your certification, we kind of have encounters with other people and you work together. And I'd worked with Teresa a time or two. And what stood out to me right away with Teresa was just this, I would say, calming presence. I tend to get a little amped up and I get a lot of anxious energy. And Teresa just has this way of calming the situation. She just has a calming presence. And there's a joy about her. And every time I encountered her, there was just this simple joy, to be honest. It wasn't until I began to learn more about her story that I realized what a profound testament that calming presence and joy is to those around her. Because Teresa, like so many of my listeners and myself, has experienced a lot of twists and turns in her life, which I'm sure we may get into a little bit here as she shares more about herself today. But before we get into all of that, welcome Teresa.

SPEAKER_00

How are you doing today? Thank you so much. I'm just delighted to be here. This is fantastic. Great way to spend my Friday, I will say, is hanging out with you.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. Thank you. So we're gonna get into a lot of things today. But before we get started, you might just tell on my listeners a little bit about yourself, just you know,

Meet Teresa And Her Story

SPEAKER_01

who you are, where you live, what you love, family, anything that you think.

SPEAKER_00

Well, to start, I'm a lifelong Catholic. So thanks, mom and dad, for giving me that gift. I am a mom to three amazing kiddos, a 14-year-old daughter, and then two boys, 12 and 9, who are just a joy to be a mom to. I've learned a lot through them. And my faith too gets uh gets a big boost by being able to be in the mama role for them. So I was married, I'm now divorced and an old, and I live in Ontario, Canada. I am a Catholic mindset coach, just like you, Sharon, through Metanoi Catholic. And a fun fact is I love bunnies. I have loved bunnies since I was a kid, and so I have two rescue bonded bunnies in the house. I also help foster bunnies, and if families are going away, I offer I um boarding bunnies in my home as well. So I can eat bunnies all day, every day.

SPEAKER_01

That's funny. I did not know that about you. So what does it look like to foster bunnies? I mean, I live in an area where I feel like there's bunnies everywhere.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Well, working with a local rescue, and if they have a bunny that needs a temporary home, safe place before they get adopted, then I can offer a space for them.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. How many of how many of you fostered at one time? Currently three. Okay. My daughter has a cat. And so we we have a lot of mishaps with bunnies. So it was like, oh, yeah. Anyway, but I I love little bunnies as well. That's great. A fun fact. So you live in Canada. Good. Then I live in Wisconsin, but people often mistake wondering if I'm from Canada. So they're gonna probably really enjoy our conversation today and our Canadian accent.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. Um I see I never knew I had an accent until I was talking with different people online and they're like, oh, you say this word a particular what? No. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I notice when I say about, and there's certain things that people point out to me. That's funny. So I never knew you had an accent either, just because you probably talk like I do, right? Right. Oh, okay. So let's get into a little bit. I as

Rescue Bunnies And Everyday Joy

SPEAKER_01

I mentioned that your background, your story, your Catholic coach. What did you do before Catholic coaching?

SPEAKER_00

So I was working for an online parenting company, and I was also coaching for them, but I was also like the project manager doing a lot of things, and um it wasn't a faith-based company, uh, but I love it. I learned so much. And then I had my friend Lisa Canning, who you may also know, mention Catholic mindset coaching. And at the time of her mentioning it, I looked into it. It wasn't the right time, but it was it was always there as this an idea, something to explore. And then yeah, I joined the same cohort as you, and it was definitely the right God's timing for sure, and how things have played out.

SPEAKER_01

For sure. So you mentioned that you're a lifelong Catholic. You also mentioned that you were married, but divorced and annulled. And so let's talk just a little bit about that, about your your upbringing, your family life, being raised Catholic, how that's formed you, and then also, you know, how you got where you are today, if you don't mind.

SPEAKER_00

So I I actually used to think my life was pretty boring. Like, man, like there's no testimony here. There, like, it was just standard stuff. You know, went to school, went to university, I got married, I had kids. It seemed pretty basic in a way and simple. And I guess, you know, then things got spiced up, I guess. You could say. So divorce did become an inevitable part of my journey. Uh, of course, nobody ever plans for that to be a part of their journey, especially if you are a Catholic, given our beliefs and understanding around marriage, the sacrament of marriage. And there were definitely years where I would describe myself as being in survival mode, trying to just figure out the next step, um, not really being able to do much more than that because of how life changed so drastic and unplanned. So quite a few storms to navigate at the same time, in that my dad also passed away three years ago, which was about a year after the divorce, and annulment was beginning to become part of the process too. And that was also not really anticipated. He was just the day before his 62nd birthday. As I say, he was just a baby, you know, and so wrestling with that grief while still rebuilding a life. And I'm really coming back to who I was and

From Parenting Work To Coaching

SPEAKER_00

and who God designed me to be, because I lost a lot of that in the years beforehand. So the walking through the annulment process, certainly that journey came with a lot of healing as well. Discovering Catholic mindset coaching definitely has been so powerful, just personally on a personal level. And with all of it, I have been very blessed. I do not take it for granted, having the people around me through all of it, even just you know, navigating early childhood years, you know, and then you know, 13 years into the marriage, navigating the discernment around what do we do here, and then divorce and a numbers. Very, very blessed with the family and friends that he's been he's placed in my life. And then also now having the tools through the coaching and and my faith just becoming not complicated, but like simplified into that relationship with Jesus and trusting that he has walked through every step of this chaotic, messy journey. Survival, and now I definitely wouldn't say I'm in survival. Dare I say we're in thriving zone, not perfect, but there's some thriving happening, which is very exciting.

SPEAKER_01

That's nice because I know there's a lot of people that are living in survival mode. I feel like I've spent much of my life in survival mode as well for different reasons. But the ideal is thriving, and that's where I mean we all aim to be, right? So you went through some really tough years, and it I mean, only a year apart. Wow, I can't imagine that you were dealing with all of that, and then the loss of your father. And where was your father? How I believe I heard you talking about his role in your family life and how this helped to shape you in your faith journey. How did that all play out?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, my dad became a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church when I was, I think around 17 or 18. And but even before that, of course, for my mom and dad, the faith was top priority, you know, always Sunday Mass. I remember my mom, you know, doing all the different kids' crafts and things, teaching us, you know, the fruits of the Holy Spirit with I can actually picture like creating a green cube with construction paper. Anyways, but you know, doing their best, right, to model and to share the faith with my brothers and I. At some point, right, we all get to the point where we are deciding is this something that is ours, you know, not just something like I'm going to mass because my family is going to mass. So for me, that happened in high school, an experience at a youth conference where it really shifted for me. So when I went off to university, it was a no-brainer to look for there was a rosary group that met regularly, the chaplain, adoration happened, all those good things. So I was seeking that out. And then my dad's journey of discerning the diaconate, my mom, of course, supporting him in that, and just continuing to make it a priority and figuring out like what that was gonna look like for Teresa. And my dad was always great. He's one where he's not the type that's going to be talking a lot. So when he does speak and share, like you're gonna pay

Divorce Grief And Leaving Survival Mode

SPEAKER_00

attention, and he wants to give you the space to make your own conclusions and your own decisions, like to come from intern internally, right? And he trusted that my brothers and I were going to he trusted the process, you know, even when, of course, all of our journeys like they go, they go where they go, Sharon, as I know, you know. And they're gonna look chaotic and zigzagging and looping around, you know. And I think both my parents have done a fantastic job in leaning on their faith when things were looking a little wonky, perhaps you might say for us, but for different reasons, and knowing that like God was holding us in the palm of his hand. And then now as a mother, I'm feeling the same. I've got my three kiddos, and I'm I'm trying trying really to trust God for the timing in my life, and certainly holding my kids in the palm of his hands, especially as we've been navigating divorce and how that's impacted my kiddos too.

SPEAKER_01

And that's a big part of the faith journey for everyone is just being able to trust. That's beautiful testimony to your dad, to like you said, he didn't say much, but when he did, you wanted to listen, right? And that he he knew that it had to become personal for each of you kids. Because for most of us parents, I think we try really hard to, you know, if I do this and if I do this, and we kind of try and micromanage and control and force outcomes and really just trusting the process and that God's the one leading the way and that it has to become, you know, personal for you. That's beautiful. And I'm sure that helped you even just to shape you and and when you were going through a lot of the challenges in your marriage and things like that as well. Yes. So you mentioned the fact of, and of course, your faith being foundational to all of this, but now you k you're a Catholic coach, and this is fairly new. How has that helped you through this process? And you know, you talked about you found Catholic coaching. How has Catholic coaching helped you through all of the storms, as you said, and your times when you were trying to survive? There's certainly healing, and there's a lot that needs to take place there that has its own place for sure. But Catholic coaching has a place as well. And so how have you found that to be really helpful for you?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, absolutely. I mean, what comes top of mind is it's the tools to manage my mind that can be very, very busy, Sharon. I don't know if you can relate to this, but classic overthinker here can easily spiral worries, anxious thoughts. And there's a a quite a while where I would say I was mostly operating from a place of fear and worry and anxiety. And the tone in my mind, the the voice that was primarily there was worry and frantic, and certainly not the voice of our Lord. It was crowded out. And so learning about Catholic mindset coaching and going through the process, I love how Mattanoia puts it together because it is so well structured. We have the opportunity to be with our, like online with our groups, right? Um, the opportunity to learn from each other and to go first, you know, and so even if I didn't coach beyond the certification, I would have received so much because of being given these skills so that I can self-coach, recognize when I need to reach out for support from another. It's the mindset, it's the emotions, it leads us into different actions, it's going to give us different results. So even though, like, we can still be navigating a storm and multiple storms and still be feeling God's peace, we don't have to be operating from the frantic, the anxiety, and the worry. And I say that as like I know that because that's what I've been able to do. I've been in the fear, and I can now, you know, get hit with a storm or multiple storms and navigate it so much differently. And very intentional, intentionally, you know, okay, Lord, I'm I trust in you, help me to trust in you more. You know, very intentionally, Jesus, I invite you into this moment, into my worry, into all my distracted thought, into the franticness, the overwhelm, the sadness, anger, grief, all of it. He's already there, but he does want to be invited in. And even just that simple shift can move us in such a different direction than if we were to just kind of stay spiraling out. And so I'm just so grateful for Matt and Aaron Ingall who who said yes, yes, and yes, that led to Matt Not a Catholic and led to coaches that are out there and bringing more light to more people in this gift that we have with the coaching.

SPEAKER_01

That's really something I and I that's part of it is, you know, what you've gone through in your life, you know, everybody else, they may have something that's a complete they're unique to their own life or their own, sorry, but that we all have storms, and you're right, those storms are going to continue to come. That's just part of our experience here. And there is a healing and there's some things that need to take place, but then we we still need to be able to move forward and we take our minds with us everywhere we go. And of course, we have all these thoughts and these fears and worries, and we need to be able to find a way to manage that and to be able to get control of that if we're ever going to

A Deacon Dad And Faith Becoming Personal

SPEAKER_01

live, as you would say, thriving in a way that we really that's available to us. And so there's so many people that I think are out there that are have experienced some healing and some relief and they're moving, but they're still stuck in these places of fear and worry and anxiety that they don't know how to escape. And that's where Catholic coaching comes in, Catholic mindset coaching. Your coaching program, if I'm correct, is called Little Way Freedom. Is that right? Did I say that right? Little Way Freedom? Yes. So can you talk a little bit about who you help through that program? What, how you arrived on that name? And, you know, I think I have an idea, I'm pretty sure. But so, you know, who you help, what you're doing, if you could just talk a little bit about that.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, absolutely. So Little Way is inspired by Saint Therese Elizu, who I was named after. And as the story goes, my parents were initially planning to name me Joy, and then my dad was inspired to shift to Teresa after Saint Therese. And of course, my mom was like, yes, thumbs up. So I'm Teresa after Saint Terez. I think my guess is she's been with me my entire life, whether or not I've, you know, really noticed or acknowledged or invited her in. But I certainly have been far more aware of her presence, especially in the last few years. And so, as you know, going through certification and then discerning what might coaching beyond certification look like for me, um, of course, leaning into, hey God, what are you thinking? But also Saint Therese, what are you thinking? You know, and so when I was discerning names and whatnot, I really yes, landed on little way and freedom because I really, really believe, you know, leaning into the Catholic mindset coaching, which plays so nicely into Saint Therese and how she approached life and the mind and relationship with Jesus, there is so much freedom and peace that comes from that. Which is, when you think about it, it's a little funny when you have some people who they don't know much about the Catholic faith or they have a lot of assumptions about the Catholic faith, and they see it as restrictive and and you know holding you back from things. But once we really get to a full understanding, not necessarily all the knowledge of all the things, but a a real understanding, God wants us to be in relationship with Him and experience His peace, His joy, His grace, His freedom. That's what inspired the name. And while, as you know, Sharon, we are trained that we could really coach anyone on anything, we tend to lean into certain types of situations or groups of beautiful humans. And so I tend to and mostly coach Catholic women, primarily who want to hear God's voice, live aligned with his will and trust him in all things. So even in the messy, overwhelming day-to-day, even with our spiraling, distracted thoughts, and that's entirely possible because I've lived it, and not perfectly. It's gonna be a lifelong journey. But so I do offer one-on-one coaching. I had the been so blessed to coach some amazing, amazing humans, and really every session, you just never know what the Holy Spirit is going to do, but he does always show up, and God is always invited to take the lead. And there's there's almost always laughter at times, maybe some tears, but certainly a safe place for these amazing humans to process with Jesus, receive gentle guidance. I've had some clients share, you know, I've I've taken therapy for years in this one session alone, has been far more impactful than the years of therapy, which blows me away every time. You know, I strive to like show up and and you know, invite the Lord in, you know, follow the skills and the process that Mentanoia has provided for us and also lean into where the Holy Spirit's leading. Actually, yesterday I was on with a client and um I was doing the process emotions with Jesus, and I had a thought that kept coming to mind and it felt so simple, too simple. And I'm like, no, I'm not gonna share it because I think that just might be me. And as we were closing out a bit, she shared the exact same thought that had landed for her. And I was like, okay. So I'm also always learning as well in my coaching and growing. The other piece is I do have an online community for Catholic women too. And we're a small, lovely group of women in my little way community. So we're journeying together, we're supporting each other, connecting through prayer,

Tools To Calm An Anxious Mind

SPEAKER_00

just chatting with fellow Catholic women, some gentle accountability as we move through our day. And coming up next is gonna be I'm gonna lead them in a session, goal setting with Jesus and journaling with Jesus, and then group coaching as well, our opportunities there. Oh, and I also run retreats for Catholic women. So they're called my little way ladies retreats, and they're most often done at a parish. Um, usually a group will invite me in and host the day. So we talk about prayer language, prayer place, temperaments, adoration. It's really a day for women to kind of disconnect from whatever's going on in their day-to-day and have an opportunity to rest, reconnect with God, and to receive tools to continue moving closer in relationship with Him.

SPEAKER_01

Beautiful. You touched on something that I think is worth mentioning because coaching is it's booming right now. We know that. And and you know, whether it's professional or personal or business or executive coaching, there's all kinds of coaching. But the fact of Catholic coaching, I was certified through a secular school and I just experienced really great things from it. And so I I knew right away, and that's what happens to most of us when we experience it in our own lives. We want to share it with others. We uh I wanna, you know, that's why so many people become coaches. But the fact of when you become a Catholic coach, there's so much of it's just so different because you invite the Lord into it at such a deep level when you're with when you're coaching people. You mentioned that session you had with that woman and you felt like the Holy Spirit was leading you in some way. And it's because that's exactly what happens when we invite the Lord into everything in our lives, it just it makes all the difference. And it's the same with our coaching. When we invite the Lord in, we're I mean, we're we're there, we're kind of like basically like what he's called us to be is hands and feet. But if we can allow ourselves to really let the Holy Spirit work through us, that is just it there's so much impact in people's lives. And like you said, I've had the same thing. A one session with somebody, and the impact they say, I haven't experienced this through years of counseling, right? And it's not to replace counseling, I don't want to say that, I don't want to give the wrong impression, but it can just provide so much help to people. So that's amazing. And you talked about we can help anyone. You're like, I can help anyone. You know, people have said that to me. So who you know, who would you help? And I'm like, well, if you're a human being and you have a mind, I can help you. So pretty much anyone.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And I was gonna say, I think what I noticed, and I don't know if if you've noticed the same, therapy and counseling are pretty well known, right? People kind of understand, okay, coaching though. So, you know, it's kind of like, well, why would I, hmm? You know, if somebody's like seeing some people are very, very used to it, but there's a lot of people who are like, well, why would I want to prioritize that? Like what would I why would I want to do that? So I think that's what's fascinating is first being able to experiencing experiencing it and then being able to offer it and a show. And it complements, you know, spiritual direction and therapy or counseling if that's also needed too, right? I'm of the opinion that I think every Catholic could use a Catholic coach in their pocket in some capacity. And there are definitely, you know, on the Metanoia Catholic website, a great directory there of just amazing coaches. So if you're listening to this, this might be the Holy Spirit nudging you to go check out, see if coaching who might be a good fit for you.

SPEAKER_01

I always feel that too, that if somebody's really questioned, I'm like, you know, they offer some free sessions. Just give it a try. Because when you do, I I don't know of anybody that's been coached that hasn't felt like it was very impactful in their life. Very impactful. Yeah. No matter what it is, no matter what you're dealing with, whether it's relationship issues or you know, the it's it's all there's all different things. You could be in transitions in your life or do career things. It's just any area, really. So your work, you have a lot going on. You have a community, you do one-on-one coaching and you're hosting retreats, you're a busy lady. So tell me, what do you what are some of the things that you talk about? You you mentioned temperaments and some other things. What else are you offering to the people in your program? What's special about Little Way Freedom?

SPEAKER_00

Sure. The one thing that I talk a lot about is what I call PBJ. It's a habit that I realized, you know, like what really opened the door to the grace for me to move, start moving away from the fear, like mostly fear and worries and that consuming my mind. And and it really landed on this practice of being able to pause, breathe, and invite Jesus into whatever the moment was presenting to me. And I would be talking about this, and then I realized, oh, P, B, and J, P B J. And so it's become named PBJ. And it seems like such a simple thing to do. Like it's almost like, really, like, but how many of us are really doing this? You know, as we wake up, as we start our making our to-do list, as we are doing the dishes, as we are trying to make a decision, when we are wrestling with grief and anger or despair, literally pausing what we're doing, sitting back in our chair or putting the dish down in the sink, taking a moment to focus on our breathing, even if it's just two or three slower breaths, and saying out loud or in our hearts, the name of Jesus, or Jesus, I invite you into this moment. It will change your life. Because Jesus will change your life. You know, he's sitting right there waiting to be invited in. I had in my brain this, I wanted to put together a guide all about

Little Way Freedom And Who It Helps

SPEAKER_00

PBJ, and I literally just made it this week, Sharon. So I'll be I've handed you the link. So I I want, you know, everybody to just grab it and start practicing PBJ. And you know, I love just it kind of cuts some tension to anything like peanut butter and jelly. And you can imagine Jesus handing you a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Let's take a little break with the sandwich. I don't know, whatever helps, right? But really bringing him in to all of it and talking. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So you said you put together this guy. Have you offered this? I'm sure you've been with some of your clients, PB and J. Have you been working with them on this? Or is this stuff?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yes, yeah. We've been talking about like so on a regular basis, I put almost daily, I'll put little prompts. I don't want to say little, but like to take away from the impact of it, but gentle prompts, mindset shifts. And one of them is have you PB and J'd yet today? And often if we're coaching one-on-one too, it it comes back to that, that reminder of let's bring that back in. And let's look at when obviously it's great if we can do this, you know, all the time, but is there a particular time of day that's more stressful or a particular situation that you want to be intentional about? I am going to really make sure like I'm practicing PB and J for this moment. Do we want to put up a post-it note somewhere to help you remember? Put it on your screensaver, right? How to so that it becomes the default, you know. So you start to worry about something and you just automatically go, wait, PB and J. And and then move from that direction, which I guarantee you is a lot different from whatever direction you were heading in once you've brought Jesus on board.

SPEAKER_01

For sure. And you're right, because the more you practice it, it just becomes ingrained and it becomes habitual, right? That does become your default. Do you use that as a starting point for your coaching when you're kind of taking them through some of the mindset stuff? If somebody's really struggling with something or trying to achieve a goal or an outcome, do you use that as like the, I'm sure I guess I'm putting, I'll let you answer that, but I'm thinking it could be the starting point, the middle, and the end. It probably is throughout the whole time.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. I mean, I think it's one of those things that it's just going to be foundational for me. And anytime I've shared it, either just even chatting with somebody one-on-one or on a podcast or whatnot, they're so they're personal, like, oh, that's like amazing. Like, this is not some complicated program that you like, you don't have to go watch a hundred videos. And there are amazing programs that you can dive into that might be the right thing that you need to focus on right now. And also, at the very core, I think it is the simplicity of inviting Jesus into this moment. And then it grows from there. But I think we also can get so stuck in like, I should be praying more, I should be doing a daily rosary, I should be going to mass more, I should, should, should. And once that should shows up, that is not our Lord. I will, I can almost guarantee it. The Lord is not going to should on you, He's going to invite you. And sometimes we're not in a season where sitting down to do a rosary every day is going to happen. If you can, please do, you know. But can you pause, breathe, and invite Jesus into this moment? And maybe you end up having a few moments. Maybe you end up having 10 minutes with him. Perfect. Amazing. That's where prayer language, prayer place, we talk more about that and and share. And I know you're familiar with that, but like learning like how does God speak to me, how to meet him in my imagination. And so PBJ is like a great starting point, and then we can pro on it from there, build from there.

SPEAKER_01

And I think one of the keys is pausing and breathing. So so often we don't I I in my own life, I will say taking a deep just pausing and taking the deep breath. I'm I'm surprised at the impact that it has on me when I'm finding myself getting all worked up and anxious, is just taking some deep breaths. And so just the pause and then taking some deep breaths and inviting the Lord in, that really does have a huge impact. And what it does is it, well, the the pausing and the breathing part, it makes us become aware, aware of what we're of what we're feeling, of what's happening. And of course, as you know, all the mindset stuff is, you know, when you're feeling fear and anxious and worried, there's some thoughts that are leading to that. And when we can invite the Lord in, He can He can direct us as to what those are and help us discern is this truth? Is it not truth? Is this from the Lord? Where is this coming from? I love the PB and J, especially if there's any young parents out there. Still PBJ. Do you share this with your kids? Have you shared? I'm just curious. Have you shared that PB and J tech?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes. And I think it's that's great too, because I do I have some moms also in my community as well. Like I said before this, I was in like full time working with parents previous job I was at to. Absolutely. I think it's a great thing to model for our kids first and just show them like, oh man, I'm feeling really overwhelmed right now. I'm just going to pause for a moment, model the breathing, and you know, say the name of Jesus. Whether or not they join you, right? But they're going to notice, oh, when mom's, you know, feeling worried or when mom's a little overwhelmed, because that happens, she invites Jesus in, you know. And then also when you're celebrating or when you're telling them, like, oh, this is so great, like invite Jesus in as you're maybe celebrating something they did that day or or whatnot, too. Yes, it's great for kids too.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, you're right. We do need to model it. I love that you say that because I'm picturing myself. I probably would be the person that would, if I thought of it, I would do it, but I wouldn't think to do it out loud, you know, to say, oh, mom is experiencing this, you know, and then doing it and then just saying the name of Jesus, doing it out loud so that they can actually know what's happening, that you're not just going off and sitting in a chair. I have a spot in my one living room area where I tend to sit and pray, but I do it, it's very internal, you know, and just in that moment, what a great way to witness. Because yeah, they're they're picking up everything that you're doing, just like you did with your parents, and we all do. At some point in their life, they're gonna, they're gonna know. Because mom was one way, and I observed her doing this, and now she's another. And then they see, you know, right? They see how that how that actually bears fruit in your own life. That's beautiful. So tell me, somebody

PBJ Pause Breathe Invite Jesus

comes to your program Little Way Freedom. What do you want them to walk away with after they've worked with you? What's what's the we talked about the fact of that people are a little bit resistant to coaching just because of a lack of knowledge or an understanding, like when you said before, like what a you know, what am I gonna get from this? Is sometimes maybe what they're thinking. What do you hope that people are gonna get from your program or working with you?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, at the end of the day, my my biggest hope would be that they are able to move and make decisions from a place of peace, joy, clarity, and freedom. Like you mentioned earlier, Terry, we can tackle really anything, you know, if it's relationship, if it's finances, if it's, you know, you're working on uh the health and wellness, struggling with overwhelm, parenting, any life transitions. And so part of the coaching process is let's get clear on what you want, right? And then let's talk about what's getting in the way. And let's just go one by one, piece by piece, and walk through this. And often too, I think it's we have such a desire to be seen, heard, and valued. And coaching provides that space and also provides that space to connect or reconnect with Jesus. And so, even so you have the sessions together, and then there's this there's a ripple effect, right? Like it doesn't just stay contained in the sessions. You're not supposed to leave the same what you came in. You end up with a shift, even a slight shift is powerful. You feel differently, you take different actions, and you're going to get different results, the results that you want and desire. And if that desire has been placed on your heart, it's from our Lord, right? That's the Lord nudging and leading you. But sometimes we're so busy rushing through life that we don't get a chance to actually give ourselves that space. There's also the impact on our family and those around us. So sometimes I think we're like, well, why should I do coaching? It might feel a little selfish to either spend the time or the money on it. There will be positive impact on your relationships, whether it's kiddos, spouse, fiance, friends, coworkers. It's inevitable if you are gonna show up and and be open to the process.

SPEAKER_01

For sure, because you're right. It doesn't matter if it's with regards to relationships or work or what have you. Those are all just kind of the, I don't know if I would say, I guess we'd say the circumstances, but those don't that doesn't really matter because the source and the work is all the same. Because it's really, you know, what's happening internally is what's causing issues for us in our lives, whether we're not living the way we want or we're not achieving what we want, or we're struggling in some area, we're wishing we could stop something, whatever that looks like, the work is still the same. It's just the details are really not all that important. And so and I love how you said the whole point is first of all to find relief or to get to where you want to be. There's certain a certain outcome you're trying to achieve. But more importantly, it's to connect or reconnect with Jesus through that process, yeah, which is really, really and when you said, I loved how you said everybody wants to be seen, known, and valued. And that's what coaching offers. I remember one of the coaches I had worked with that was helping me through something. And, you know, just even if you're concerned about well, will it be for me? You know, you get it 30 minutes or an hour, however long the session is, to be truly seen and known and valued. How often do we get that in our world today? Where somebody is is honoring you and giving you space because in the coaching space, it is that's exactly what it is, is you're offering, you know, you're holding space for someone and you're you're really honoring what they're saying. And that's a very, it's a very special and a very sacred space to be in. And that's why I think to be a coach, it is really a gift. And I think that's why the Lord is bringing this to the church right now because I think it's so needed, and it is it is truly a gift for his people. So yeah. That was great. That was great. I really, really appreciate all that you've shared. It's been a great, I could ask you a lot more questions, I feel like. I always try and keep these episodes at a certain length, but I have a lot of things I'd like to ask you, but we'll save that for another time. So I just want to I want to leave with our listeners where can they find out more about you, Teresa? If they're looking to work with you one-on-one, if they just want to understand a little bit more about the the little way. If I will put a link in the show notes of all of this where they can find you, but also

SPEAKER_01

the PBJ. Is it a guide? Is that how you refer to it as the PBJ guide?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so it's a PDF. Um and I don't know exactly how many pages, but it's not like a 60-page thing, my friends. So if you're like, this is intriguing, it is I'm all about keeping things simple and not overwhelming. So far, the people who have picked it up, they have been loving it. And so actually, uh, one of my little way members, she printed it off four per page and cut it out and laminated it to make little cards. So I was like, that's amazing. I love that. So, yes, please pick up the PVJ. It is geared towards my fellow Catholic women, but men, if you are listening, it obviously this is a practice for you as well. And then I'm on Instagram, I hang out on there as well. It's little.freedom. So if you want to come hang out there, and I'm happy if somebody is feeling the nudge to explore one-on-one coaching with me, there will be a link to book a free call for that. And my little way community link will be there as well if you're curious. I'm always happy to answer questions though, too. My email is littlewayfreedom at gmail.com. So if you're like, tell me more about something, then let's chat.
