Finding Atoria
It Isn't As Hard As You Think
Arcadia is the moderator for this one. Malcolm leads off with how “easy” it is to be a DM. He has been our forever DM since the ‘90s. Arcadia has swapped out with him as well. There are tons of DM resources and it may not be as scary as you think. Rule #1 of DMing: if you aren’t having fun, the players probably aren’t either. Letting your players have agency is an important point as well. The players will derail you, I repeat, the players will derail you. But it can be a good thing and make the story even better. Tori follows up with how it isn’t as hard as you think it is to start playing as a PC. Newbies, find your vet to help you and ask questions. Tori recommends that when starting out a martial class may be easier than magic users. You may not be able to role-play like everyone else and that isn’t a bad thing, you’re new. Your backstory is hella important too. The player’s handbook is your friend during some of those first few sessions.
