Mental Health & Me
Episode 3 - Sean Lynch Part 1
This week, I sit down with Sean Lynch who hit the headlines back in 2016 when he inflicted severe, life changing self-harm wounds on himself whilst he was an inmate in Maghabury prison. He, in his own words 'gouged his own eyeballs out' while prison officers watched for over an hour, before intervening.
Sean has never spoken publicly about his story before, so he trusted me to help him share it. Seans' story is so complex, but it also needs to be heard.
In Part 1, we discuss Sean's life growing up, being 'one of the best footballers to come out of the North' & at aged just 14, was signed by Newcastle United for a 6 figure sum. Unfortunately, due to unacceptable behaviour, he admitted himself, his declining mental health and drug & alcohol abuse - he lost everything - including his eyesight.
In Part 2, released tomorrow, Sean discusses the days leading up to this life changing incident, the day itself, & his life now after it all.
••The Mental Health & Me podcasts are conversations about the guests personal journeys, their own point of view & based on their own version of events••
