Fierce Comebacks — What to Do When Life Knocks You Down
Podcast Transcript – Living Fiercely with Tiana De Rey
Hi and welcome back to Living Fiercely — the podcast for high performers who know that life doesn’t wait for you to feel ready. You want to lead, grow, and stay powerful under pressure? Good. Because that’s exactly what we do here.
Let’s get started.
Today we’re talking about what to do when life knocks you down. Not someday. Not when you’ve figured everything out. Right now. When you’re in it. When your world feels like it just cracked open. When you’re tired, maybe even pissed, and still expected to deliver.
You’ve been there. We all have. But not everyone rises. And if you’re listening to this — I’m going to assume you’re not here to stay on the ground.
So here’s what to do.
First — shift your focus fast. Pain wants your attention. It wants you stuck in your head, replaying what went wrong, spiraling into “why me.” But power doesn’t live there. Power lives in what now.
You can’t control everything that hit you — but you can control your next move. Shift your brain from problem to forward action. What’s one thing you can do today — even if it’s small — that puts you back in motion? Make a decision. Clean your space. Book that trip, class, or show you’ve been putting off. Take a walk and breathe on purpose. It doesn’t have to be dramatic. It just has to be forward.
Second — use your body to take the lead. This is why movement is essential. Not for aesthetics. For power.
When you’re knocked down, your nervous system goes into survival mode. You start freezing, overthinking, checking out.
The fastest way to break that pattern is movement. You don’t have to run a marathon. Just move. Push the ground. Stretch. Walk fast. Punch a pillow if you have to.
Motion overrides the noise in your head. It sends a new signal: “I’m not done.”
Third — stop leaking energy where it’s not respected. The wrong people, wrong spaces, wrong routines — they drain you when you’re already low. This is the time to simplify. Ruthlessly.
Cut what’s not essential. Silence what’s distracting you. Say no without guilt.
You need full capacity right now — not scattered, not depleted. Fierce comebacks happen not by trying to be superhuman, but by acting with purpose and protecting your energy like your life depends on it. Because it does.
Fourth — reconnect with your edge. Yes, you’ve been knocked down. And it sucks. But you’re still breathing. You still have options. And sometimes, that’s all it takes.
You don’t need motivation. You need a decision. Decide that this moment is a pivot — not a defeat. Decide that this challenge is building you — not breaking you.
Remind yourself who you are. What you’ve pushed through. What you’ve already built. What you refuse to give up on — even when it’s hard.
Fierce isn’t about pretending things are easy. Fierce is about refusing to quit when things get hard.
Take the hit. Regroup. Stand back up — sharper, clearer, and with more fire than before. That’s how you rise. That’s how you lead. That’s how fierce comebacks are made.
If this episode gave you what you needed — share it. Someone out there needs this energy today. And if you want more, hit follow — because we’re just getting started.
You’re not here to live soft. You’re here to live fiercely.
Let’s go.
