Tired, unmotivated, and over it? You’re not lazy, you’re leaking power. This episode breaks down the four invisible ways your energy drains every day and how to seal those leaks for good.
Ep18 — You Are Not Lazy, You Are Leaking Power
🎧Living Fiercely Podcast
😩 Does this sound familiar?
You wake up exhausted. You go to bed feeling like you’ve accomplished nothing. You scroll through social media, watch other people crushing it, and start wondering: what’s wrong with me?
You tell yourself you’re lazy. That you lack discipline. That you need to try harder.
But here’s the truth: you’re not lazy.
You’re leaking power.
And once you learn how to plug those leaks, everything changes.
🔥 Let’s be real, lazy people aren’t here.
They’re not listening to podcasts about growth and self-mastery. They’re probably binging Netflix without a second thought. So if you’re here, it already means you’re not lazy.
High achievers are usually the ones who feel the laziest, because you’re constantly measuring yourself against impossible standards. You see someone launching their third business and think, “Why can’t I be more like that?”
But what you don’t see is the exhaustion behind it: the burnout, the skipped workouts, the mental overload.
You’re not lazy, you’re human. You’re just trying to build something extraordinary while holding it all together.
Your problem isn’t lack of motivation. It’s energy leakage.
💧 Think of your energy like water in a bucket.
You keep pouring in more caffeine, more hacks, better habits. But if your bucket’s full of holes, you’ll still end up empty.
Those leaks are subtle. They’ve been normalized. You barely notice them until you’re completely drained.
Today, we’re going to find those leaks and fix them so your focus, drive, and confidence return effortlessly.
There are four main types of leaks: mental, emotional, physical, and digital.
🧠 Mental leaks
This is your brain wasting energy on things that don’t matter.
Decision fatigue, overthinking, and perfectionism drain your power every day.
Perfectionism is fear disguised as productivity. You’re spending 80% of your energy perfecting the last 20% of something that was already good enough.
Fix it:
Automate what you can—what you wear, what you eat, and what you’ll focus on each day.
Plan your week ahead not just your work, but your free time, workouts, dinners, and appointments. You won’t follow it perfectly, but preparation keeps your energy sharp.
💬 Emotional leaks
This is energy wasted on other people’s chaos: the coworker who complains, the friend in constant crisis, or the relative who drains you with guilt.
It’s not just toxic people. Emotional leaks happen every time you say yes when you mean no, avoid a hard conversation, or carry someone else’s emotional baggage.
Your peace isn’t people-pleasing it’s power protection.
Fix it:
When someone asks for your time, say, “Let me check and get back to you.”
That short pause gives you space to decide instead of automatically giving away your energy.
💪 Physical leaks
Your body is your power plant. If you don’t maintain it, everything else collapses.
Sleep, nutrition, and movement are your big three.
Lack of sleep destroys focus. Poor nutrition messes with your mood. Lack of movement slows your body down.
You can’t feel powerful in a body that’s weak.
Fix it:
Set a consistent bedtime alarm and actually stick to it. That one habit alone can transform your energy.
📱 Digital leaks
Scrolling isn’t rest—it’s overstimulation.
You’re consuming hundreds of pieces of information per minute. Your brain never gets a break.
That’s why you can’t focus—you’ve trained your brain for chaos.
Fix it:
Put your phone in another room when you work. The effort it takes to go get it helps break the habit and resets your attention span.
⚡ Rebuild your power
Step 1: Protect your energy like your life depends on it—because it does.
Create a “Hell No” list: five things that drain you fastest.
For me, that’s negative people, clutter, back-to-back meetings, checking my phone first thing, and conversations that start with “You won’t believe what happened.”
Step 2: Build rituals that work for you.
Forget performative routines. You don’t need a 5 a.m. wake-up to be powerful.
Start your day with a two-minute power start—before touching your phone, ask: “What’s my intention today?”
Keep it simple: “Today I’m focused on completion, not perfection.”
Check your energy three times a day—Is this giving me energy or taking it?
End your day with a 30-minute power-down. No screens. No problem-solving. Let your mind recover.
Step 3: Spend your energy where it compounds.
Invest it in high-ROI actions: deep work, workouts, learning, and meaningful relationships.
Stop wasting it on gossip, multitasking, endless planning, or people-pleasing.
Step 4: Fix one leak at a time.
Pick the biggest one and commit to fixing it for two weeks. You’ll feel the difference faster than you think.
🛡️ Defend your power
When you start operating at a higher level, people and situations will test your boundaries.
Energy vampires aren’t just people—they’re patterns: a draining job, a one-sided friendship, or a routine that exhausts you.
You’ll know what’s stealing your power by how you feel afterward—energized or depleted.
Here’s how to hold your power:
“I’m not available for that conversation right now.”
“I’m protecting my peace.”
“I trust you’ll figure that out.”
Simple. Firm. No guilt.
Boundaries aren’t rude—they’re respect.
And don’t forget your environment—your space, your feed, your circle.
Everything around you should fuel you, not drain you.
🌟 Final truth:
Energy isn’t limited—it’s created.
Move your body. Learn something new. Do work that excites you. Connect with people who share your vision.
That’s how energy multiplies.
When you stop leaking power, you stop surviving—and start radiating.
People will notice. They’ll ask what changed.
And you’ll say: “I stopped wasting my energy on things that didn’t deserve it.”
The world needs you at full power—not half-charged and surviving on caffeine and chaos.
Your work matters. Your energy is your advantage.
Stop calling yourself lazy.
Start reclaiming your power—one leak at a time.
Because when you operate at full power… you become unstoppable.
