COOEE - Rural Sisterhood Project
Gday Beautiful souls,
Welcome to the Cooee podcast.
My name is Sasha, and Im a 7th Generation Aussie and female custodian of the land.
After experiencing a series of traumatic events occur in quick succession in 2018, I was catapulted me into a dark night of the soul, and a journey of remembering, a spiritual awakening that shifted my life trajectory in a way I never could have fathomed. Having had to walk the path alone I felt inspired to guide and mentor other Rural Australian women who may be experiencing their own journey of healing and self discovery, while in isolation whether as a byproduct of geography or something more sinister such as relational abuse and the social isolation that can happen within that dynamic. My aim is connect women with each other and themselves and create a community that shares sage advice, and guidance and inspiration for their own heroine's journey and so never shall another rural woman experience feeling isolated and alone.
I will share my story, and tools I have learned as well as chat with beautiful guests to learn how nuanced each others lives are and how to face the unique challenges that living in the rural landscape and being a women brings.
This space is for women who have their roots in the soil, and are rising in the soul. Whether you are in the desert, on acreage or just have country in the blood, come join me as we discuss everything from farming to friendships, divorce, dating, rural business, children , spirituality and homesteading life, nothing will be off topic for this raw, authentic and rustic space for women to connect and feel a part of a community to nourish body mind and soul. .
Look forward to having you in this space where you are welcome, safe, loved and enough just as you are

EP 8 WAKING UP IN THE BUSH isolation and how it impacts our journey back to the self
Waking Up in the Bush — When Awakening Finds You in the Middle of Nowhere
In this raw and reflective episode, we explore what it really feels like to go through an inner awakening while living rurally — far from spiritual communities, therapy offices, or groups of like-minded souls.
We talk about the loneliness, the confusion, the stigma, and the dark night of the soul that comes when your inner world begins to shift but the world around you stays the same. And how, when there is no one to guide you, the land steps in — holding you, teaching you, and becoming the mother you lean into when everything else feels like it’s falling apart.
This is a conversation about:
The isolation of awakening outside spiritual spaces
The inner battle between the old identity and the emerging self
Learning to trust intuition — inner-tuition
How nature becomes the guide when no one else understands
Why walking this path alone is not a punishment, but a rite of passage
Permission to expand, even when others think you’re “losing it”
If you’ve ever felt like you’re waking up in the middle of nowhere — physically, emotionally, or spiritually — this episode is a reminder that you’re not alone, and you’re not broken.
You’re becoming.
