Hello everybody, millie M, co-host and producer, back in the studio with licensed nutritionist and clinic owner, katina Wilson, here to explore how cutting edge treatments and conscious living create a truly synergistic sculpt inside and out. How are you, katina?
Speaker 3:I'm great.
Speaker 2:How are you Doing? Well, let's get into the science and the strategy behind next-gen body contouring, including cryo. You got some machines coming. Tell us about it.
Speaker 3:I do I do Tomorrow, in fact, right, you know. So, when you're working out, you know, you always hear people say like, hey, like I want to lose that fat on my stomach or I want to lose like that fat pocket over here, you know, and your personal trainer will tell you like, yeah, we know we can't really do like targeted fat loss and that sort of a thing. We actually can and we actually have the technology that we can do it. It actually involves two different types of technologies that we have here at the Atlanta Wellness Clinic. So the first is our cryotherapy device, and the way that it works is it actually freezes the fat, right? So if you're somebody who's kind of fairly close to your weight but no matter what, through like diet and exercise, you know you've got that fupa, that stomach, you know, whatever, wherever those fat pockets are, we can freeze the fat. So the device, you know, freezes the fat and then, over a period of like days and weeks, the fat is permanently gone. It uses your body's natural lymphatic system. So we freeze it to the point where it's so cold and it doesn't take very long, right? I mean we're talking, you know, like a minute or two, right? And so over a series of sessions. But it freezes the fat. The fat becomes destroyed, it enters into your lymphatic system and then you know, as long as you're doing the things you know that you're supposed to, it flushes, you know again over weeks and then sometimes months for some people, but it flushes through the system. Now, when we flip to the EMS side and we actually do both, we'll do both for our clients, right? So the EMF and the RF electrical muscle stimulation it's going to help build that muscle as well as burn the fat. So now we've just frozen it, now we're melting it and we really are like pushing it into the lymphatic system as quickly as possible.
Speaker 3:But the electrical muscle stimulation is going to give you those contractions. So think crunches, think squats, think you know those kinds of like contractions that you do. It's going to do above and beyond what you can naturally do. You know when you exercise on your own. So, for instance, you know when you exercise on your own. So, for instance, you know we tell our patients, in a 30 minute session you're going to get the equivalent of 20,000 contractions on your abs, on your thighs, you know, on your buttocks, on your hamstrings, right, whatever body part that it is that you're, that you're targeting. So these two, these two kind of technologies working together give you that synergistic you know body contouring. These two kind of technologies working together give you that synergistic you know body contouring, body sculpting that you were talking about earlier.
Speaker 2:So my first question is does?
Speaker 3:any of it hurt. No, no, it's cold. Right, it's cold. And so you know what people will tell you and we have a lot of patients that are going through it right now. You know, because it's summer and everybody's trying to get ready but what a lot of them will tell you, especially like the very first time going through it. You know the cold does take your breath away because it's cold, it's really really cold. It can get up to about minus 180 degrees. So it is really really cold, but it's not completely, it's not uncomfortable. And again, you know we're swiping the skin, we're not swiping it for 30 minutes.
Speaker 3:You know a single session when it comes to cryotherapy, depending upon the number of body parts we're talking 90 seconds, maybe two minutes, right, depending upon the session. When it comes to the EMS, the same question applies, right, does it hurt? No, those contractions don't hurt. We can go as high, we can go as low as whatever you're comfortable with. And then what's nice about the device is when you think about when you work out, right, when you're lifting weights and you're exercising, the very next day you feel stiff and you feel sore. Well, with our device, it actually breaks up the lactic acid. So, as it's doing those contractions in between, it's also breaking up the lactic acid so that you're not feeling sore.
Speaker 3:Right, you don't feel like you've just done 20,000 contractions, right, so you're not feeling sore. And it's so funny, because did it do anything? I didn't feel it. That's the point, right, we're breaking up that lactic acid in between so that you don't feel so uncomfortable for the next several days and weeks thereafter.
Speaker 2:Sounds like the way to go. How many sessions does a client usually come for before they start to see some real changes?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so it really depends on the person. Every person is different. We've got some people who will do both the cryo as well as the EMS. They'll do as few as four right, and typically for those individuals maybe they're really close to their body weight. But with the cryo, after you know three or four sessions you could easily be down a few inches. Right, and we've seen that. We've seen those results and so that is something that we monitor. But we do have some patients who have a little bit more to lose. So some will get six sessions, some will get eight, some will get 10. Many stay on maintenance because they want to maintain those results. But it just varies person by person. So you really have to come in, we have to take a look at, kind of like, where you are in your health journey. But it does vary for everybody.
Speaker 2:Is that why you suggest the cryo in conjunction with the EMS or the RF for faster or more thorough?
Speaker 3:results, absolutely, absolutely. We do have some people who only do the cryo, but that's because they're active on their own, but almost all of our patients will do both and certainly you will get the best results. The way to get the best and the fastest results. We obviously have the tools, but you still have to do your part right, and so the number one thing that we tell people is one you have to drink your water right. So we're talking a couple of liters a day, and so we ask people, even before you come in, make sure you're fairly hydrated, drink at least a liter of water before you come in and then continue thereafter.
Speaker 3:The second thing is we ask for movement, and so we're not asking for a lot of movement. We're not asking you to go to the gym and work out like for hours, we're talking maybe 10, 15 minutes per day. And the reason for that again is that we're trying to not only flush kind of the fat that we've just destroyed, we're trying to get it into your lymphatic system as quickly as possible so that you can eliminate it. So between the water and then the exercise, you know those two things will happen. And then the third thing that we ask is like look, you know you got to maintain your weight, right. So what we don't want you to do is, you know you come in and then you know, a few weeks later you know you gain 10 pounds, right, because the fat, even though it's destroyed, those fat cells that remain, they can expand and fat can show up in other places that weren't treated right. So it is important you know to be able to do those three things.
Speaker 2:I love this idea because, you know, I've worked in office environments with lots of women, so whenever you get a group of women together, weight is going to come up and they go. I just want to be skinny and I go. Do you want to be skinny or do you want to lose maybe the little flab up under your arm? Or do you want a flatter stomach? Or do you want toned thighs? And so this isn't just this broad idea of losing weight. It's targeting those areas that you want to see changes in so that you can sculpt the body that you're looking for.
Speaker 3:Yeah, absolutely, and it's so funny that you bring that up. Almost everybody that comes in to our clinic to lose weight they usually talk about a specific body part that they're looking to lose the fat. Somebody will come in and say, hey, you know, I want to lose weight, but I only want to lose it in my stomach, or I want to lose it in my thighs, that sort of a thing. And so you know, when it comes to weight loss it is very difficult to say, like you know, I want to lose. You know, you know, just through diet and exercise I just want to lose in those places. But with these technologies we can help with the targeted fat reductions that people are looking for.
