If you’ve been feeling like your content strategy needs a full overhaul every few weeks, this episode is your permission slip to take a breath.

In this episode, I’m talking about one of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make with their social media and branding - constantly reinventing everything.

New colors. New templates. New messaging. New strategy. Every single month.

Instead of creating momentum, that constant change usually creates confusion - both for you and for the people following along.

Today I’m sharing why consistency in your content visuals, messaging, and strategy matters far more than constant reinvention, and how a few small tweaks can make a much bigger impact than starting from scratch.

In This Episode

In this conversation, I talk about the pressure many entrepreneurs feel to constantly refresh their content and why that approach often backfires.

I share why recognizable visuals and consistent messaging actually help your brand grow faster, and why you probably don’t need a complete rebrand or total content reset.

Sometimes what your content really needs is simply refining what’s already working.

Key Takeaways

Consistency Builds Recognition

When your visuals, templates, and tone stay consistent, people start recognizing your content instantly. That familiarity builds trust and makes your brand easier to remember.

Don’t Change Your Templates Every Month

If you’re switching templates constantly, your feed can start to feel disjointed. Find a visual style you love and stick with it for a while.

Strong Messaging Matters More Than New Designs

If your posts aren’t landing, the issue usually isn’t the design. More often it’s the hook, the message, or how clearly the idea is coming across.

Small Tweaks Beat Full Reinventions

Sometimes your content just needs better hooks, stronger visuals, or a little strategic ad spend - not a complete overhaul.

If You’re Feeling Overwhelmed

If you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, consider this your reminder that you probably don’t need to reinvent everything.

What you might actually need is:

  • Stronger messaging
  • Better hooks
  • More consistent visuals
  • Maybe a little ad spend

Small adjustments can go a long way.

Hi everyone. Welcome back to the One Wild Brand Podcast. I'm Amanda Demora, and today is Friday. Always record on Friday. And while Fridays are supposed to be my least busy day, the past many. They have been my busiest day. It's like all meetings and appointments and calls and things just get jammed into Friday, and today is the first one where I have nothing on my calendar. I feel extremely liberated and I am just trying to sit down at the computer and. Check off my to-do list. Just little things that I wanna get done. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, and it's just exciting. And I also get to record an episode, so a little bit of what's going on in my world. I had my, I've been talking about this a lot. I had a branding photo shoot done last week. Yes, last week. And that. I talk a lot about brand photos and specifically lately I did a whole podcast episode on this. I think it was my last one actually, but specifically lately, I have just been feeling like my client websites , when they don't have any branding photos and we're just using stock photography. To me, they look just flat. They're really missing something and I don't know, I've been toying a little bit lately with. I don't wanna say making it a requirement that they have them, but it just really changes the game. And as a designer, I wanna deliver the best website that they are just blown away with and so happy. And I feel like unless they have branded photos. That's really not gonna happen. So anyway, I had my own branding photo shoot done last week. This is not my first one, but this was the best one so far. I had an amazing photographer and makeup artist, and they were both with me all day. Obviously the photographer was with me all day. but the makeup artist was too, they kind of go hand in hand. They co-own a studio together, so it, it was sort of like half, photography studio and then there was the little makeup studio and they were both so wonderful. Obviously the makeup artist didn't need to stay with me all day, but she did, and she was just so much fun and brought a different kind of energy to the shoe. We shot half at the studio and half at this really cool location around me, It's inside a hotel, but it's like a tea lounge where they do a lot of like afternoon tea and it's all pink and very just on brand for my brand. And that was a lot of fun. And if you guys have heard me at all, you know, this is totally not my style at all. I really don't like having my photo taken. so on one hand I'm happy it's over because that makes me uncomfortable. But they made me feel so incredibly comfortable, guided me the whole time. it was a long day, but I, you know, it couldn't have been a better experience for me. So I am just about to get those photos back. I have seen some previews of them so far and I'm so excited to use them in my branding. I'm also redoing my own website, so. That is very exciting and I can't wait to see how these get incorporated and just, you know, take me to the next level. I'm always talking about bringing other brands to the next level, and of course I am no exception, but, okay, so today's episode I wanted to talk a little bit about. Instagram, which is my platform of choice. I'm not really a TikTok girly. And facebook was really pivotal for my previous company, my dental billing company. That was a huge source of growth. However. One wild brand and web design. My audience and the business isn't really living on Facebook. My kind of target audience and most of my followers, which I get to have these insights from Instagram, are about 35 to 44, which makes. Perfect sense. That is my age range. Therefore, you know, often that is your target audience too.'cause you speak, you speak the language. So, that, you know, just that generation. We kind of are an Instagram generation. So I wanted to chat a little bit about my seven Instagram posting musts for 2026. Kind of what I'm doing now, what I stopped doing, what has changed in my Instagram strategy and what I've just been seeing working so. Must number one. Stop planning three months at a time. Okay. Now this was me and I'm raising my hand and I'm guilty of this because what my strategy was before was I would sit down and I would map out months worth of content at a time, and it would probably take me about a week straight. you know, a few hours every single day where I was working. On posts in Canva, getting them all scheduled, and that worked for a season, but then it just started to feel a bit stale. The problem with planning three months out is that. Things shift that you can't really predict three months ahead. I feel like things are getting sharpened. Your brand is getting better, your messaging is getting better, and things are just changing as a business should all of the time. So three months ahead, it is really hard to predict that. so now I am kind of batching about a week at a time to kind of keep things really fresh and current, talk about things that are happening in real time to me. And I have found that to be just more organic. I've just seen better conversions with that, better interaction, better reaction from my followers, and I just like it a lot more. Instagram is a conversation and the conversations shouldn't always feel like they were pre-written three months ago. So this was a learning lesson from me. Again, I like to talk a lot about my mistakes and things that have changed, and this is certainly one of those. Well, and it felt so gratifying to say, oh no, I have the next three months of post planned out. But again, I don't know, they just felt very. Stale after a bit.. Alright. This kind of brings me to must number two, which is reusing templates without reinventing yourself. I think one of the reasons why I planned out my content so far in advance was because I felt like that was easier and I had all the templates and things, and my hesitation to stray from that was, oh, well I don't wanna be, you know, sitting.

At 11:

00 PM at night trying to get something posted for that night or tomorrow, but I often do do that now, but it's much easier because I still do reuse the same templates. I think once you're kind of working from a batch of templates, it's very easy to whip out a post in no time. So I honestly at this point have a ton carousel posts and reels and just static posts that I reuse all the time for different things. I don't feel like I'm reinventing the wheel every time I post because I have those. And I can do something very simple, like just switch the brand colors around a little bit, and that kind of gives it a fresh take rather than something someone's seen maybe a couple weeks ago on my feed. It still looks very nice in the grid. So I think having a good set of templates, branded templates that. Keep you in line and make posting kind of like in the moment or last minute, much easier is way better than planning them months in advance and going into Canva and going to their templates section, trying to customize one of their templates to be your own like. Last minute, Sally. So that is just my tip there. Get those in your library, save them all in a folder. Nicely organized and going in and picking from them is gonna be much, much easier. Number three, keeping things in the moment right now. I love posting in the moment. I think people are naturally a bit voyeuristic. They like to see behind the scenes. They like to see what you're working on now or maybe. A little glimpse from your day that day. And, that isn't going to change for sure. So if something happens in my business or if I have a client breakthrough or a testimonial or a. A hot take about messaging. I wanna talk about it now. I don't wanna talk about it in June because it's happening now. So I like that feel a lot better, and that energy really translates. People can feel when something is current versus recycled. And fresh energy just performs much better than this perfectly planned energy. Must number four is fewer posts and stronger hooks. Okay, so months back I was posting every single day and , that has its own payoff and there I do think there is something to that. But I do think you can start to stray from that, certainly after a bit. And that's kind of where I'm at now. So I'm not posting every single day. I'm posting oh, a few times a week trying to stay active on stories. And the balance between those two will keep people engaged. So I think your messaging on your posts needs to be. a bit stronger if you're going to be posting less. So I'm, not posting more, but I'm posting better, if that makes sense. So every post needs a clear hook, not clever all the time. I, I like to do sassy hooks and things, but clarity is a bit more important. So. Instead of saying something like, let's talk branding, I'm saying something like, your homepage headline is costing you clients and elaborating more if it's carousel post. Maybe I'm elaborating more in the subsequent slides or in the caption. So often I will, I always have a note section for a lot of things in my phone, but as ideas come to me, I'm always writing them down on my notes section. That way when I'm going to post something on social media, I'm not like, oh man, what do I post? I usually have. A handful of things that are ready to go or I wanna talk about, and I am sure to write these down as they come to me. Number five is to boost what's already working. This is the one I think people are sleeping on a bit, and that is ads. So I've had a fair amount of growth over the last couple months of my following, just from boosted posts and simple Instagram ads. I'm not talking thousands of dollars. I'm not talking complicated funnels and many chat things. I'm just talking small, manageable dollar amounts. And when a post is, you know, if I get a lot of likes on a post organically, I'll often boost that one. Or if I have a really like beautiful designed reel or something, I will boost that one. So for my most popular one is three Canva Fonts to stop using. That is my most popular one. It's really well performing. I have it boosted right now, and that has brought in a lot of traffic and a lot of followers for very little money. So that is my very simple strategy there. So if something is resonating, amplify it. Don't just hope it keeps going on its own. I have seen other people have great success with this strategy too. So it's not just me. And these are people in all different kinds of industries, and you definitely will notice a. Big uptick in your traffic when you're boosting, as opposed to when you're not. So I would say just give it a try. You can also get pretty granular with who you are trying to target in your ads. So I have tried out a few different things. I think the most successful. Audience is when I let Instagram pick the audience. And what they are doing is just, they're targeting people that are most like my followers, which is just fine with me 'cause that is who I want. But I have tried to get. A bit more targeted by targeting certain age groups and people with certain interests, and I just didn't like the results of that. so if you already have a, a, good following with people who you feel like are aligned and could be great potential clients of yours, I would opt to let Instagram choose for sure. Number six. Design still matters. I don't care what anyone says. Design still matters. So clean layouts and a strong contrast, white space, intentional color. If your content and your posts are looking chaotic. People probably assume that your process is chaotic, or if it's just looking really dated to me, I can spot a million miles away When we're dealing with dated like Canva posts and templates, and people have seen those a million times, my recommendation if you're not a designer is. There are so many wonderful templates on Etsy that you can purchase for social media. I've actually been having so much fun getting some Etsy templates. For sale on my own Etsy shop. That's kind of my little passion project right now. I will switch them all over to be for sale on my website as well, but I'm gonna wait a little, bit on that for now. Etsy is just super easy and once my new website launches, they'll be on there. But, I do that when you're searching on Etsy for templates. I would. Just be mindful of some of them. I do see people purchasing and I see them all over the place, and then in turn, they don't feel that new and fresh if a bunch of other people are using them. However, I see less people using templates from Etsy than obviously what's built into Canva already. So that's just my one tip. And most of the people who have listened to my advice are like, oh my God, I never even thought of that. This makes things so easy. You download the template, you get your branding colors in there, , you get your logos in there, and. They're gonna make your feed look so much better. And I always try to make sure, you know, make sure they match up with your website style too. You know, you want those two things to feel kind of hand in hand. So, for example, one of my web design clients, her website was a very kind of sophisticated editorial magazine type of feel. And I made sure to craft social media templates that went. A hand in hand with that design. So they weren't like, wait a second, I found you on social media. Then I went, went to your website and I wasn't sure you were the same brand. You want those two things to feel quite connected. So that is my one tip. If you know that your brand has, or your website has a specific vibe, maybe it's quiet luxury, or maybe it's modern, or whatever that may be, type those keywords into Etsy. When you're searching for the social media templates and see kind of what you find there and what might marry well, elevated visuals just build trust before you say a word, they make you look very put together. Can't stress this enough. Last one, number seven, and that is clarity over trends. So I'm not chasing trends anymore. Of course, if there is something like super trendy that I think is fun. One of the things that I love right now is the. Posts that are pictures of whomever as a child and it's like, this is who's doing your website. And for example, that would be me as like a 3-year-old. I haven't done one of these, but I want to because I find that fun and I. I would not be opposed to anything like that. And there are a few viral things that, yeah, of course I'm gonna jump on that bandwagon, but the bulk of my content is just clarity in what I do and who I serve and my messaging. And that continuously is going to convert a lot better than just all trendy posts and things like that. You wanna have continuity over time. So the algorithm didn't grow my account. Clear messaging and smart amplification did. So my advice here is to not change up your. Strategy every single month, or your content vibes, or even if you're purchasing templates off of Etsy, like I said, don't switch those up like every single month. You want your feed to feel the same. I mean, unless you are like, oh man, I absolutely hate these, these need to change. That is a bit of a different story, but hopefully that's not the case. So. All right, wrapping up if you're feeling overwhelmed right now. This is kind of your permission slip too. Not need a full reinvention. You just need stronger messaging, better hooks, some stronger visuals, and maybe a little ad spend. Okay. And if you're wanting something that feels a little bit fresh, I actually do have a pack of free Canva templates for you to download. So I will link those in the show notes. These have actually been getting downloaded a ton lately. I had made them a couple months back and I kind of forgot about them, and then all of a sudden a bunch of people are downloading them. So that's exciting. So I will link those in the show notes, , all right, that is gonna wrap up today's episode and I will see you on the next one.
