Ever looked at those gorgeous product photos in magazines and wondered how you could possibly create something similar for your small business without spending thousands on professional photographers? The game has officially changed.

The latest episode of our podcast dives deep into Google's groundbreaking AI image generation tool called "Nano Banana," which is revolutionizing product photography as we know it. We put this powerful technology to the test with challenging medical supplies - from cold medicine to complex nebulizers with multiple components - and the results were nothing short of astonishing.

Within minutes, the AI transformed basic product images into stunning lifestyle shots that would typically require professional photographers, expensive equipment, proper lighting, and extensive post-production work. The depth of field, lighting, background elements, and overall composition rivaled professional photography, all created with minimal input and technical knowledge.

While not without limitations (it occasionally alters product details and includes a removable watermark), the technology represents a democratizing force in marketing. Small business owners who previously couldn't afford professional product photography can now create compelling visual assets for websites, social media, and advertising campaigns. We also share insights from a recent Google AI seminar, discussing additional tools like Wisk that provide even more guidance through the image generation process.

Ready to transform your product photography game? Give Nano Banana a try today and watch your marketing visuals reach new heights without breaking the bank. Don't forget to subscribe for more weekly tips and strategies to help your small business thrive in the digital landscape!

Google's New AI Product Photography Tool

SPEAKER_01

This new Google AI feature is going to change product photography as we know it. It's insane. Wh which it's so it's new software. Yeah, it's it's a new new model of image generation for Gemini. It's called Nano Banana.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know they stole I don't know. That's like Savannah bananas. It's very close. They stole they must have.

SPEAKER_01

So I I did some testing on it because so many people have challenges in creating really nice product photography. You know, to where it's like set up and with a nice display, like good lighting, lifestyle images, yeah, good lighting. Like so I wanted to do a test. I took a bunch of these kind of more medical equipment that you can see on my screen. Yeah. So we got like NyQuil, I it's kind of small, so I don't remember what that is. Airborne and like some of the little like baby bug wipes kind of thing. Um and I said, I want a nice product display featuring the attached images. So normally if I wanted to put together, and and this was for like a like a cold and flu season shot. Like here's some stuff for you know, cold and flu season coming up. And if I wanted to go put these together in a nice, I need like a small studio or find someone with a really nice house, ask them to, you know, make sure everything's clean, like bring lighting and everything, take some pictures, take it into Photoshop.

SPEAKER_00

You're hiring this out, or hiring it out, yeah.

Testing Medical Products Display Results

SPEAKER_01

And so I wanted to see what this could do. Very minimal input on my part, and I'm covering it with a little note thing because I wanted I wanted to kind of see like this general reveal on how we can make these look really nice now. So I'm gonna move this and we're gonna see the image that generated from that small tiny prompt. Okay, check that out.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's pretty good.

SPEAKER_01

So, what it didn't do, it didn't include this little Nebulize.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna ask you, it's that square's not there, right?

SPEAKER_01

So, like it wasn't perfect, but I'm okay with it.

SPEAKER_00

Like, looking at that, I'm just like they changed the bottles and stuff though. So, like if you look at the NyQuil box, the NyQuil box is a VIX NyQuil instead of the well, maybe the other one is VIX too. Oh, yeah, you're can you expand the the big image? Let's see if we can I mean that bottle looks good, but it's not the same.

SPEAKER_01

That's true. I didn't know that.

SPEAKER_00

And it looks like the branding on the UVC light sanitizing wand is also different. If you go back, can you click on the other one? Like the one you submitted, which is yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Dr.

SPEAKER_00

Talbot's so it's different, which would be an issue because you're like, uh now the way it looks, can you go back to the main one? Like that's pretty cool. Like the depth of feel and it's really clean. I I like it.

SPEAKER_01

I mean I could I could probably take it from here and put it into Photoshop or something. Or I could also maybe ask it to do something a little different.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe ask it again right now. You can maybe do it live.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I want to show you a couple of other examples first.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say because one thing that you can do I've seen is when you specifically say do not change the products in these images whatsoever. Yeah, and it keeps a little bit more where it doesn't take the creative freedom right and change it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, it's but like if we just look at the image itself, it's like this would take a significant amount of time and effort to just create something that looks this nice. Yeah, I agree. Because like I'm like, I don't have that nice countertops in my house, you know. I have old countertops, but um, you know, but just the whole setup and the and the lighting, like this would just take a decent amount of time. And it did this in like one minute. Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe Gemini's way quicker than Chat GPT does away with photo generation, it's super quick.

Nebulizer in Home Setting Example

SPEAKER_01

I feel like Chat GPT has intentionally slowed it down just so that they don't their servers aren't as bombarded with image requests. Yeah, maybe. But yeah, Gemini is still a lot faster. So I I tried to go through a few iterations to where I wanted to make it more I wanted to put this as a hero image on a website, and I was trying to get it to go different really wide, but it wasn't. So what I did from here is I took this into Photoshop and I basically made the size of image that I wanted, imported this, selected with the marquee tool, and did generative fill, and it filled in. It looks really good. Yeah, it looked great. It's cool. Um, so I wanted to try this again. So what I did is I wanted this nebulizer, and so this nebulizer comes with a nebulizer and a little kit, right? Like this is asking a lot, I think. Like there's a lot of components. Yeah, so I was like, I want I want this to be looking nice as well, like a nice lifestyle type shot, right? So I said, can you display this nicely in a home setting and check it out? Dang. Like that is very can you can you expand it? Let's expand it and see. The only there's only one issue with this. And I don't know how big of an issue it actually is. It's this Yeah, is it like floating? It looks a little bit like it's floating.

SPEAKER_00

However, when I look at right here, it's the is it which is this right one right there.

SPEAKER_01

Like it kind of almost looks like there's maybe some little feet or something. So like I think it possibly could uh no, it probably wouldn't go there, but like I mean you really have to pick it apart.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. That's like pretty there's a lot of components in there, and it did a pretty dang good job. Right. It's also interesting that it slightly changed the because that I thought it I mean changed the perspective, yeah. I thought it would I thought it would struggle with uh because it's a little more upright, and then this one changed it to more of a yeah, like it's a totally different different angle, which is pretty interesting.

SPEAKER_01

Um and this is not something that you would think there would be a whole lot of in Google's image databases and stuff like that, right? Right. Because this is very uncommon. I did not expect this this good of a result. Yeah. Um, it was very impressive. You know, all of them do have this little Gemini watermark, which in Photoshop again you can and and most programs, I'm sure, you just select it and say, get this out of the show.

Product Limitations and Watermarking

SPEAKER_00

Can you also is this a no, you have the pro. So they are they always have that? What do you yeah? So you can't pay to get that watermark removed.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think so. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I mean it's super easy to take out, but like I mean, overall, like this is incredible product photography that's available at your fingertips within minutes. And there's gonna be some refinements and stuff that you need to do, but overall, like it's it's pretty incredible.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I've tried to do some product stuff similar on Chat GBT and it's struggled. It changes the products. I was doing it for a specific client, trying to get it into a very specific um background and environment, and it was doing the environment environment really well, but it was changing the product enough that it was just an issue. Right. This isn't our product, you're changing different components on it. Like it you the computer is getting the general idea, but not even not doing good enough job. So for that, which it did change the NyQuil, right? But or change the NyQuil or miss some stuff. Yeah, so it's not perfect, but it still looked accurate, like you, you know. I think if you were a little more specific on your prompt, which what I've been saying, not change anything on this. Yeah, like I what I've been doing is asking uh like AI to create me a prompt to tell AI to generate an image, and it's way more detailed of a prompt, and it works way better. It's like because it knows how to talk to itself and to cue certain things, right? And so that problem that paired with the image generation of nano banana, uh, I think would be a really good pairing to be effective.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and like if you if you do have more specific assets to be like, I want this product in this setting and bring it together, and I and I think it'll do an even better job if if you have a good vision on on what it should really look like. Um, I did see so today I was a part of a like a Google AI seminar. It was like me and like 13 other advertisers that got an invite to this, which I thought was was pretty cool. Like they kind of walked us through a bunch of AI products that they have, and they did mention a product called Wisk. It's Google product, and basically you can it almost kind of like walks you through what the subject is, like the settings, like the look and feel, and then it creates the image asset. So it kind of gives you a little bit more guidance. And so if you do have like a Google AI subscription, I mean you may be able to even do it to some extent without a subscription, but you can then generate images there. So it's it is available within Gemini, especially Gemini Pro, but you can also access it through WISC.

SPEAKER_00

That's really cool. Yeah, was there anything else besides or was it all on image generation today? That meeting?

Call to Action and Closing

SPEAKER_01

They did image generation, video, mostly, mostly images and video for ad specific for ads and just creative assets, whether they're for your website or for an advertising campaign, social media, like they have so many tools available. Yeah. I and and so like they they were a little specific on they had like two columns. They had if you have a Google AI subscription, here's the tools that you use. If you're just using like Google Ads, here's the tools that you use that are built into Google Ads. Gotcha. So like if you're uh an advertiser, you do have access to some tools, but you get more access if you're subscribed to like their AI version, like their AI subscription. Try it out. Like, if you if you're a business owner, if you sell products online, take it into Gemini, create some product lifestyle images, put them on your website, social media, advertisements. It now unlocks so many possibilities for the small business owner. Like, just go and try it out today.
