In this episode, we break down why Microsoft’s Copilot still feels a step behind tools like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. From slower reasoning to clunkier responses and a lack of creative flexibility, Copilot just hasn’t caught up to the smooth, intuitive experience business owners get with the other major AI platforms.

We share real examples of where Copilot struggles, why it still has potential inside the Microsoft ecosystem, and how ChatGPT and Gemini continue to dominate when it comes to accuracy, workflow creation, marketing support, and overall user experience.

If you’re using AI to grow your business, this episode will help you figure out which tools actually make your life easier — and which ones might just slow you down.

Copilot Versus ChatGPT Reality Check

SPEAKER_01

So I just in downloading the new chat GPT or updating it on my iPad. Um, and I saw that like Microsoft Copilot. Have you used the copilot system?

SPEAKER_00

Not a ton. Just because I've heard it kind of sucks. Yeah. Like and I I don't I don't know why it sucks because it should be chat GPT, it should be open AI.

SPEAKER_01

So it's not even their own long, what is it called? Uh language model, long large language model. Large language model? No, it's they're using they're piggybacking.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, right.

Big Tech Models And Quality Gaps

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, well, and Microsoft's a huge investor in open AI. Oh, okay. And so like that's I I think they're one of the biggest investors. Oh, gosh. So like it's it's Chat GPT, but I've heard it just isn't there. You know, yeah. Kind of like Siri.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was gonna say Apple has Apple intelligence, and I think that it's and they have Chat GPT behind it. It's bad. It's not good. Yeah, it's it's not even close to the same apps as Gemini is really good and Chat GPT is really good.

SPEAKER_00

I have noticed that on some Siri like questions that I've asked, yeah, it's using Chat GPT more often. Like just within the last month.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

Which has been interesting, but it I still feel like it just doesn't get it.

Siri, Gemini, And Apple’s AI Tradeoffs

SPEAKER_01

I feel like a good comparison is like um not Xfinity, but T-Mobile, or they have like all the cheap cellular brands. They're like, we have best coverage, right? But they're piggybacking off of ATT and Verizon. And Verizon is never as good. Yeah, Verizon and ATT have their own towers. Yeah. So they're always gonna be better than just and those cheap versions get low priority, right? And so like the I have a family. That's a good analogy. Yeah, I have a family member that uses T-Mobile, and as soon as they switched, calls wouldn't come through, text messages were delayed, and it even if the coverage is wider, because they basically pay to lease the Verizon and ATT, so they have a wider network, right? But they're low priority, so it's it's annoying. It kind of feels like that.

SPEAKER_00

I think that's a great analogy for it, and and most likely that's what's happening. Yeah. Right. But as we're talking about, uh oh no, that's my glasses.

SPEAKER_01

That was like glasses, yeah. New I got new glasses. Uh I got you got these back a while ago and you returned them because I did. They had the new model come out, and you're like, uh maybe I want the new model. Yeah, still within the time frame, right?

The Carrier Analogy For AI Performance

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was like one day before the return deadline. Yeah. And Meta came out with their display, which I'm still on the fence about because like they're thicker.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, they're even thicker than these? Yeah. These are pretty dang thick, too.

SPEAKER_00

They are, which has kind of been my biggest hesitation. But like, and it's way more expensive.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And so like they're like, so these in comparison, I th I believe these. I had to get prescription lenses. So there's that. But these I think were 380. Does that sound right? Without the lenses. Like the lenses are another 160 bucks.

SPEAKER_00

Because the display ones are twice as expensive.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, they're they're like 800 bucks. And I looked at those, and for me, I don't think they'd be good for me anyway, because I needed prescription. So my prescription's super thick. Like I've told you about this. Yeah, you're basically blind. I'm basically blind, especially in this eye.

SPEAKER_00

And so tell tell tell the viewers about how you used to do like take your glasses off while driving as a police officer.

Switching To Smart Glasses Talk

Price, Prescription, And Model Choices

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, anyway, not not the best, uh, not the best use. But the um when I got my new lenses, I popped these lenses out, super simple. The original lenses popped them out, they're super thin. It was easy. My lenses are seriously four times as thick as the original lenses. And so I you get in the top and you go to work in the bottom, and you got to use your fingers, and you're like prying the plastic of the glasses, and I'm like, I don't like this is not good. Like my lenses, yeah. Well, mine are so thick, I wasn't worried about the yeah, the lenses. I was uh I wasn't worried about the lenses, but the frames. Oh the actual glasses, because the lenses are so thick, I was like, I ain't breaking these. Like they're that's true, they're literally like this thick, and they it's so thick they actually had to put a ridge on the outside so that the ridge would fit in, but the lens actually sticks past. If that makes sense, but it's all on the inside, so you can't tell at all. But gotcha. Anyway, I got the left eye in, which isn't quite as thick because of my eyesight's better than my left eye, and my right eye is so thick I could not get it in. And I tried and tried, my fingers were hurting. So I I was trying to get it in, and my wife's watching me and she's like, I we just paid so much for all this, like don't break it. And so I went and grabbed her uh like blow dryer and I heated up the plastic of the lens for about like 20 seconds, and it just enough to pop it in. Sweet. But I love them. Like, I mean, they just went off, but uh I love them as like they're having constant airpods in, but like but you don't but you don't look like you do, you don't look like you do. Like I was walking around the grocery store with my meta glasses on, listening to a podcast, pretty low volume, because I think you like if I had it up and it was quiet, you could still kind of hear it, but you can't really hear it. Um, so I have it like medium volume right in the middle. No one else can hear it. I can hear everybody. Like if someone's like, excuse me, I'm like, Oh yeah, no problem.

Thick Lenses And DIY Frame Fitting

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, there's just a slight bit of noise in your environment, you can't hear them at all. If it's dead silent, yeah, like in here, you you can hear them.

SPEAKER_01

Or uh in church, the other day I got a text message from a client and it went off in church, and it was like, Doo doop, you got a text. And I was like, Oh, my wife and my sister all just look down the pews, they're like, Excuse me. I'm like, sorry. So I'm like this, I'm just trying to turn it down as fast as possible. Um, but yeah, you can also go into the app and silence or pause notifications for like an hour.

SPEAKER_00

Which it which is why I'm interested in the display ones.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because like I'm wondering if you can mute it, but you can still see it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so so that was the question for me. Was that would be really nice? The other thing is since I have prescription, it's gonna project it not through the lens, but on the back of the this side of the lens, like on the inside. So I actually won't have glass, like I won't have my eyes fixed when I read it.

SPEAKER_00

So you might not be yeah, you might not be able to read it very much.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like it'll still be like my bad eyesight. And so I'm like, oh, this isn't gonna be helpful.

SPEAKER_00

Does it project it from the back?

Everyday Use: Audio, Discretion, Etiquette

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it projects it on the inside. That's how that's why you can't see it, is because it's projected on the inside, and and obviously it can't project on the outside. It's the I believe the projector's on the inside here and it projects to the lens. And so for me, it's like that it probably is not gonna be helpful. I love it for filming my kids play catch and other stuff. It's fantastic. I've already made like home videos using it. Or if a cool moment is happening and I don't have my phone, I can just hit record and sit there and watch. And at least I have a minute or three minutes, depending on your settings, to record it. And it's less distracting. There is a little bit of a dot. You can buy stickers on Amazon aftermarket to cover up the light so no one can see it. But um, overall, I really like them. They're pretty sweet. If you like this episode, make sure you like and subscribe below, leave a comment and share this episode with a friend that's also trying to grow their business.
