To Hum is Human

Resonant Pathways: Music, Healing, and Human Connection

Donnabelle Casis

In this episode, we dive into the healing frequencies woven between sound, curiosity, and connection. I’m joined by musician, educator, and sound therapist Lacey Lewis, whose journey began as a curious child entranced by vibration, and evolved into a transformative career supporting students at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Together, we explore what happens when we shift from simply hearing music to listening with our whole nervous system. Lacey opens up about working with vibration in nontraditional ways, using binaural beats to influence brainwave states, and how humming can soothe the vagus nerve and invite calm back into the body. Her work with NepTune and Heavy With Stars shows her range of possibilities with sound.

We talk about the difference intention makes, how sound becomes medicine when we infuse it with purpose, and why learning music is accessible at any age. At the heart of this conversation is a reminder: sound isn’t just entertainment. It can transform us, regulate our nervous systems, and bring us back to ourselves.

Tune in if you’ve ever felt the power of a song in your bones, if you’re curious about sound therapy, or if you're ready to deepen your listening practice.
