So, maybe, with this quiet confidence, hello, welcome to the Deep, heartfelt Success Podcast. Success that feels even better on the inside than it looks on the outside. Hello, I'm Heidi, heidi Mark, transformational Coach for big-hearted, driven professionals who want more, more ease, more joy, more capacity to fully experience and enjoy the success you've worked so hard for. Because real success isn't just about achieving more, although I'm sure you want more. It's about expanding our capacity to feel confident in it, to really enjoy it. It's time to start feeling the fulfillment, the freedom and the ease you've worked so hard for. This is where traditional success ends and deep, heartfelt success begins. Welcome to the adventure. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to episode four, which is being released when I'm actually not even in the country, but I'm recording this for you before I go and walk the italian camino. I'm so excited.
Speaker 1:I spent some time on sunday morning weighing everything because, despite my best intentions, for some reason where's my packing list? I put so much effort into it for the Camino de Santiago and here I am. No packing list. So I made a packing list and then started weighing everything. But actually the joy is in the process. It really is goodness me weighing stuff, asking the question am I prepared to carry this on my back for two weeks? Is it worth it? What will it give me? It's got to earn its keep right. Really interesting process which feels like a whole nother episode about what we carry and how we can travel lighter and how we let go of things, which is a big part for me of creating deep, heartfelt success. But in this episode I want to keep my promise to you by sharing my most powerful morning practice as it is right now. Right now, because it's constantly evolving, so it's never going to be polished. I'm going to share it as it is and it's changed rapidly this year already. So that's exciting. And what would be interesting for me about going on the Camino is my one minute rebellious journal has not made the cut. I am not carrying it. It's a hardback book because it lasts the whole year and I'm not carrying it. So that's gonna be interesting because that's the first time I've been separated from it and I found it so powerful. So it's going to be interesting because that's the first time I've been separated from it and I found it so powerful. So it's going to be really nice to test out how portable the method is and also I will have my tiny, tiny little notebook where I'll record my thoughts and highlights of my day and the route and all the joys of walking, just walking every day. I can't wait Just walking, nothing else, nothing to do, just but to settle back into that rhythm. So good. So this is how it is for me at the moment.
Speaker 1:I wake up in the morning and I notice after a bit there's quite a lot of chaos in my mind. This just seems to be what my mind does. It's busy. I'm an ideas person. There's a lot of stuff going on in my head I'm sure there is in yours too and for years now I've been very deliberately noticing where my attention is and bringing it back to me. That's just been standard. Stuff Works beautifully. And then just noticing, completely neutrally, how I feel in this moment. And then I started adding in deliberately bringing to mind how I wanted to feel and then allowing that to flood every cell in my body, so that I start the day with the intention to just create a day with the end in mind.
Speaker 1:And then, when I created the journal, the One Minute, gently, rebellious journal method is to start the morning by bringing to mind the feeling of your word of the year. Now, if you don't have the journal or if you didn't do the workshop with me, then you can get the journal and I'm very happy to give you a link to the workshop, but for now, let's just make this really fast. You a link to the workshop, but for now, let's just make this really fast. If you don't have a word of the year, you could, having listened to the previous episodes, remember what resonates with you when I talk about deep, heartfelt success. What does that mean for you at this moment? And it could be in general, it could be just for today, just for this moment. If I felt like this, it would feel so good, it would feel like a win.
Speaker 1:So, whatever's coming up for you, whatever you want to do because it's very flexible, but the idea is to aim high, to aim for what you're truly trying to achieve. So it's based on the idea that everything we do is in order to change how we want to feel and bring that first to the mind and then to the heart, into the body, and just gently allow that to spread. Now, this is not a trying to control anything, trying to change everything, trying to deny what's going on. It's not that at all. It's just the conscious mind has a safety mechanism to notice everything that could possibly be wrong in order to keep us safe. But there's no way to live because if we want more than that, then we're going to deliberately bring to mind, bring, bring to the mind's attention all the joy, the security, the success, the love, the connection, the health, the energy, all the good stuff that we already have. That's here all the time but we don't notice because the mind's always looking for everything that's wrong. It's a bit like walking to my garden ready to pick up the dog's mess and all I'm searching for is dog's mess. I don't, then wouldn't notice the flowers, they're just all, and my garden's amazing, so it depends what I'm looking for, or I could just go into the garden just purposely to look at the flowers.
Speaker 1:At the moment it's spring. Oh my goodness, what is it about spring? It's almost like part of me believes it will never come, and then it comes, and it's always a miracle. I mean, I know it's always going to come, but, oh my goodness, it's always magical, it's always a miracle. I was out there just now and, oh my goodness, every day is another flower so beautiful, and then now there's tiny leaves, leaf buds on the trees and they're going to uncurl and part of me it already has this grief of going away on the camino because I know I'm going to miss some of those beautiful, fast baby steps of spring.
Speaker 1:For me, it's about getting to know my mind. How does it work? So it's full of ideas, gets very busy and it's easily distracted by anything negative. Okay, I don't want to live from that point of view. It's not good enough for me. There's a whole load of good stuff going on. There always is. If I look behind me, if I look back on my life, there was always joy at the same time as all the awful things going on. There's always lots of different things to experience at the same time.
Speaker 1:So therefore, if I can teach my mind to focus where I wish to put it, that to me is living more skillfully, and I love that and I've been doing it for years and it's really oh my goodness, so changed my life. But I don't want to spend ages every morning having to do a lot. I just wanted a very deep but short practice to start my day. So I'm inviting my mind to move its focus to all of the good stuff and to notice that feeling and bring that to my body. Now, to do this, it takes practice and it takes skill. So all I'm doing is inviting you to share the practice with me, and then I'm just going to give you the tips that I found on the way.
Speaker 1:It's not always easy, of course it's not.
Speaker 1:It's going to be different each day, isn't it? This is an adventure. There's different challenges each day, different stuff shows up each day. So how can we make it easier? Well, the easiest ways is what I like to do is kind of sneak past the amygdala, the fear centers in the brain, and just bring to mind the smallest thing. So what I love about this is, if you think of all of the good stuff in your life, all the different areas of success, you can actually use one thing to flood your body with the feelings of all of it. So you don't need to get everything under control to feel successful. You can choose to feel successful by deliberately bringing to mind and allowing that and then bringing to your body and your heart the feelings.
Speaker 1:And it could be a past memory, it could be anything, it doesn't really matter. It's very much like if you're really cold in the winter and you dream of lying on a beach and you know that lovely, lovely feeling when you've been through winter and you're lying on a beach. And you know that lovely, lovely feeling when you've been through winter and you're lying on a beach and you're it's like your bones just warm, from the right to the core of your bones, like you're thawing out. If you can remember that when you're cold in the winter it feels good, right? So that's what I'm inviting you to do to make it as easy as possible. Don't make it hard. Don't try and do like if you've got a heartfelt word of the year, if you do like the whole year happening oh, my goodness, that's just too much. I've tried it, believe me, I've messed about with this stuff. Make it easy, make it joyful and then just pause and allow. Allow that to spread that feeling, to spread through every cell in your body, if you can. But it's an allowing. It's not a pushing, it's not a trying. It's not trying to change how you feel, it's just an inviting a different focus of attention. So let's put that together so you wake up in the morning and you notice what's going on.
Speaker 1:So usually my mind's really, really busy and pretty much it's already out the door, getting on with my day, writing lists, problem solving, doing its thing. So then I pull my attention back to myself and I notice that and then I drop the judgment about it. So instead of focusing on the oh, that's terrible, I'm really bad at this Just notice it neutrally. Oh, it's busy again. Okay, that's annoying, let's pull it back to me. And then I bring to mind how do I want to to feel today?
Speaker 1:Now, I found it really helpful to have my journal, because I've already recorded in there for my conscious mind really really clearly how I want to feel. I know exactly how I want to feel, so I'm not having to think about it. I don't want to be spending ages thinking about it. I've got stuff to do. I don't want to be doing some very long drawn out process every morning of trying to work it out every day. It's too hard, so I already know. So I'm bringing that to mind. Then, if it's hard, I'm making it easier. If it's easy, I'm just allowing it even more.
Speaker 1:And then I notice what's in my way, because there's usually something in the way, particularly at times when I'm working really hard to achieve something. So, for example, launching this podcast. I had it a lot. I had self-doubt, I had anxiety, I had fear. I actually didn't have much fear, I just knew. I knew this is what I wanted to do, but I'd had stuff coming up like what am I doing? More kind of like oh my God, so much to do. What am I doing? How's this going, this gonna work? Why am I doing this before going on the camino? Because I know myself well, I'm better jumping on that train and catching that momentum, and I'm really glad that I did so.
Speaker 1:If there is stuff that feels in the way that's a bit annoying, bit of self-doubt, bit of fear, bit of anxiety, bit of overwhelm, whatever it is, notice that too, completely neutrally, and then invite that into the body as well and feel it. Allow it to be felt fully. Look the boogeyman in the face and say I see you. Haha, you look ridiculous. You've been here before. I see you. Self-doubt, you've rocked up again, getting really bored of this. A little light laughter, maybe give him a cocktail, whatever it it takes, just feel it.
Speaker 1:Now, what's interesting about this is you don't have to resolve it, you just have to feel it and then let it go. So, because it's a time limited practice. So it's just a few seconds, it's just a minute, it's not long. You're not looking for a change, you're not waiting, you're not analysing. Oh, I can still feel it. Stay out of problem solving mode. That's the best advice I can give you for when I've done this, because if I start going into, oh, has that shifted yet? Oh, have I done that properly? Oh, what have I still got? Self-doubt, oh, I don't know if I've done it properly. Really unhelpful, really, really unhelpful. So instead I invite you just to feel it, dare have courage to feel it, but gently, rebelliously, so, with a little light laughter. Ha ha, here we are again. I wonder what's going to happen next.
Speaker 1:It's just curiosity, and then sometimes stuff shifts and sometimes it doesn't, and that's okay, and then set your intention for how you want to move through the day. So now you know what's going on, you have full awareness, you have full awareness of where you are, and self-awareness is key to living with more joy, more feelings of success. So now you have the full awareness, now you know what's showing up for you and you know how you want to feel. And you know what showed up. That felt like it was the resistance to feeling that You're fully prepared. And it only took you a couple of minutes.
Speaker 1:And now you can set a clear intention for how you want to move through your day. So if, for example, you're feeling worried about something, you can choose to intend to move through the day with the opposite of that. So maybe with this quiet confidence, knowing that, although you may not have faced this particular concern before, when you look back, you've done something this hard before. You've done stuff before. You're not a novice, you're highly skilled, you are already successful. So this is remembering who you are. You can do this, you've got this. You might not know exactly what you're doing, you might have something awful to deal with today, but you've got you. You're on your own side. Be on your own side.
Speaker 1:And I find it really, really important to write this down. Write a sentence down how you want to move through your day, how you want to feel who you are being. This is really helpful because you can well. First of all, it draws the attention to your conscious mind, it makes the intention more solid because you've written it. And then what I find is, when I look at it in the evening, it's really helpful. Or if I look back over several weeks, because it's all in my journal, then I can see the patterns, I can see what I was feeling, I can see what I've overcome, I can see how I rocked that using this, and it's so good to be able to just glance at that, because it's only a sentence or a word or a few words. It's no big deal, but it that really amplifies it for me. So that's it few minutes, it's not a big deal.
Speaker 1:Very easy, however, to dismiss it. Surely that's not going to work, because it doesn't take very long, or I could just miss it today. I'll be okay, if you want to do this, you've got to go all in on it, or it's what's it going to do? I don't know. Actually, I don't know if you did it half-heartedly, it might still work. I don't know. It's up to you. I'm just sharing it because I'm finding it really powerful. So there you have it. That's my most powerful start to my day, as it stands at the moment.
Speaker 1:I will update you as it progresses throughout the year. I'd love to know how you get on with it.
