Have you ever felt the weight of others' expectations holding you back from your true purpose? Dr. Teresa Hegwood knows this feeling all too well.

During this powerful conversation, Dr. Hegwood opens up about her transformative experience at the Altar Experience event, where she arrived feeling "tired, exhausted, picked out, picked on, and lied on." What follows is a remarkable story of breaking free from limitation and reclaiming divine authority. When Dr. Capehart preached about removing the "grave clothes" that bind us—those spoken words of death that keep us from our purpose—Dr. Hegwood recognized herself as "that one person" who needed the breakthrough.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner with a doctoral degree, Dr. Hegwood navigates the complex challenges of being a woman of color in healthcare, facing opposition not just from outside her community but sometimes from within it. Her work spans mental health, detox, rehabilitation, and primary care, requiring her to address every aspect of her patients' wellbeing. Through it all, she's discovered that true power comes not from titles or others' approval, but from standing firm in her divine purpose.

"I take my power back, I take my authority back. I am who God says I am," she declares with conviction that's impossible to ignore. For anyone feeling diminished or constrained by others' expectations, Dr. Hegwood offers this wisdom: "Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. When people want you to sit down, when people want you to take down, stand still and firm on the Word of God."

Speaker 1:

This was an experience like no other. I truly had a great time interviewing some of the guests at the altar experience. I want to just thank right now Pastor Moena Tucker and Jamie Tucker for inviting me out to the altar experience, where I was blessed beyond measure with the words that was coming out, so I'm hoping that you as well here my listeners are just as blessed as I was to hear some of the interviews and some of the entertainment that we will be showing all month long. So take a look, enjoy and remember, burn through the pad, break the cycle and become unstoppable. This is what it's all about. Check it out.

Speaker 2:

Hello everyone. So we have Dr Teresa Hayboard. Dr Teresa Hayboard Awesome, I did hear a little bit of your testimony. Tell me what you got out of the altar experience.

Speaker 3:

Oh, my goodness, I got everything that my state and the heat, when I say everything, and that was just the personal Tired, exhausted, picked out, picked on.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 3:

Lied on yes, lied on yes, the whole nine yards. But when Dr Capehart preached that word and she said she was coming specifically for one person, I was that one person. Yes, I was that one person that needed the breakthrough, that needed to be broken from the chains of expectations of others and just needing to hear that, no matter what I was going through, that God was just preparing me and for getting ready I'm going to paraphrase to propel me to where he had ordained for me to go. And I needed to hear it. I needed every word that she said.

Speaker 3:

And thinking about how Noah that was the other young lady. Today she's thinking about Noah that was the other young lady. Today she's thinking about Noah, but Dr K Clark, she was talking about mastery. Yes, she had risen from the dead and that he was sick. But when they took the grave clothes off, mm-hmm, when they took the grave clothes off, tuned to the tape, yes, yes, yes, the grave clothes that was being taken off, he was being freed from the ones that spoke death over him. So each one had to come back and remove that spoken word of death over him from him. And that was so free. It was powerful. That was the most powerful thing that I had to hear, also this today very powerful, very powerful. I truly the Noah, yes, I truly enjoyed everything that I heard, the mindset, knowing that remind body and spirit, and I just thank and praise the Lord for the opportunity to be here to support and just glean from everybody that had to pour out. It was truly a blessing. Those that did not come, I'm saying, I'm saying they missed a blessing.

Speaker 2:

So do you feel like you think we were talking and they mentioned a little bit about taking back the power and I know in your position we have experienced a lot of trials and tribulation. Do you feel like now you are more on that path to take back your power, and how Do?

Speaker 1:

you feel like now you are more on that path to take back your power and how?

Speaker 3:

Huh, yes, and the wall. And in my professional you know, being a woman of color With the position of a doctoral degree, meeting opposition not just from Caucasians or any other persuasion, but even from my own, what that does for me is let me know that you know I'm not wrestling against fleshy blood, but against principalities and powers and wickedness in high places, but first and foremost, the Bible is not lying, that's right. It's the Lord, and I take my power back, I take my authority back. I am who God say I am. I will do what God says I will do. So that's what I know to do.

Speaker 3:

That's what has been reinforcing me and it gave me that to get up and stand, no matter what anybody says, no matter what anybody thinks. The power and the strength and the authority comes from God. It's not about me, but it's about the souls being saved. Even in my work, I have to deal with mental health. I have to deal with every aspect of a person, from the crown of their head to the sole of their feet, and so God gave me back that strength that I need to go back and be what I need to be for the people that I take care of and do it with love, with grace and under his anointing. Isn't that my own? So?

Speaker 2:

let me ask you one question what is it that you do? Can you tell my viewers what it actually is? You do.

Speaker 3:

I am a family nurse practitioner, family nurse practice. So in family nurse practitioner, uh, the areas that I have worked in, I have worked in mental health, I have worked in um uh, detox and rehab and I am primary care. Okay, so I do the primary care but as again I have to meet every aspect, I'm the one that stabilizes everybody, diagnose everybody, treat everybody. So before they get to mental health therapy or mental health providers, they come through me first, so I'm the first one that they see. If there's any mental health issues, I have to take care of those. If they need to talk to somebody, I have to take care of that. Whatever medical need that they stand in need of, I have to do that. But I always encourage them. If they have a deity which is Jesus Christ, if they have a deity which is Jesus Christ, you know, I can always point them back to the original, the original healer, which is Christ Jesus.

Speaker 2:

All right. My last question will be what would you tell a woman in your position who may be going through the same struggle? What encouragement could you give that person?

Speaker 3:

Stand still and see the salvation in the phone. Stand still. God will make a way when people want you to sit down, when people want you to take down. Stand still and firm on the Word of God, because it's in Him that I move, I live and I have my being. People will say that you're trying to place yourself above others or you're trying to make a name for yourself. You don't have to do that. God does that for you. That's right. He does that for you. So, sisters, brothers that are striving to be all that God has ordained for you to be, continue to strive in the Lord and remember that he is the author and the finisher of your faith and your course. No man can tell you who you are in Christ but him. And if he say that that's who you are, dare to walk in it and dare to stand on it, amen.

Speaker 2:

Well, there you stand on it, amen Bella. There, you've heard it. Thank you so much.
