Yes.... I'm still honoring father's even though Father's Day has passed.

Father's Day looks different when you're co-parenting. This week, I stepped back and handed the mic to the fathers of my children — and asked them one simple question:

What does Fatherhood really mean to you?

What came back was honest. It was real. And it reminded me why these conversations are important to have.
.
In this episode, you'll hear directly from my son's dad and my husband— unfiltered and in their own words — what fatherhood feels like from where they're standing.

I'll leave listeners with a reflection question to think about and we'll close out with a Father's Day prayer over every dad listening.

This one is for the dads. Share it with the father in your child's life.

Hey everyone, and welcome back to the Coco Bem Podcast. It's Father's Day, y'all. And instead of doing this episode the way that I normally do it, I wanted to do something a little bit different. I went to the fathers of my kids, the men who are co-parenting alongside me, including my very own husband, and I asked them one simple question. What does fatherhood actually mean to you? Not the hallmark version, not the obligatory Happy Father's Day text. I wanted to hear their own words. I wanted to hear what fatherhood feels like from where they're standing, especially within our Linda family dynamic. So today I'm stepping back and I'm letting them speak. And here's what they had to say.

Fatherhood means being a mentor for your children, being a leader for your family, being a friend when your children need you, protecting them, providing for them. So that that uh you're the you're an example and just trying to guide them through life with the hope that they don't make the same mistakes that you made. Just being there for them when they're when they're uh when they have their ups and downs, when they have different growing pains and and issues, just counseling them, you know, those and those kinds of those kind of things.

Fatherhood, uh to me, fatherhood has always meant that I had to basically give of myself, be respected, just feel um nurturer, provider, which wasn't always the case all the time. I kind of had to grow into this fatherhood situation. I wouldn't have any other way. I was very blessed to become a father. My kids are wonderful. I'm very thankful for that. Um very instrumental in that development. And I thank both of them tremendously. Because uh, they've also taught me how to be another father, better main, to be someone that my children can look up to and towards. So I think in a nutshell, uh fatherhood to me just basically means that being someone who can be counted on to help, aid, assist, and nurture.

Let us pray. Father God, thank you. Thank you for being a good, good father. Father God, I want to thank you for the fathers that many people have in their lives. I want to thank you for the fathers who are a part of my life. Um, my father has since passed on. However, I am grateful to have had uncles who were amazing, one uncle who helped raise me. And just um I've been surrounded by amazing men in my life. So I just thank you for them. And I thank you for my husband, who is an amazing dad to our children, all of our children, including his bonus children. I just want to say thank you to my son's dad, my daughter's dad, all the fathers that are in my and my children's lives. Father God, I just want to bless every listener who has had an amazing dad. They got to experience what that feels like. Lord, Father's Day is the day we honor fathers, the ones who showed up, the ones who are still learning how, the ones who got it right, and the ones who had to start over, or even still figuring it out as they go. We want to thank every single father who's chosen to be present, not just today, not just in body, but in heart, and not just today, but every day. We pray for fathers navigating co-parenting, the ones doing the hard, quiet work of putting their children first when it's not easy. Give them grace, Father, for the journey and peace in the in between. I pray for the children who are watching. May they see what love, commitment, and showing up really looks like and feels like, even when a family doesn't look traditional. And God, for every father listening right now, remind them that they matter, that their voice matters, that their presence matters more than they know. I ask all of this in your son's mighty name. Amen. And as I close out this week's episode of the podcast, I want you to reflect on what fatherhood truly means to you. And if you are not a father and a woman listening to the podcast, I want you to think about the fathers in your lives and how you choose to honor them, not just on Father's Day, but every day. Thank you for listening to the Coco Blend Podcast. See you next time.
