I’m Charlotte Ashley, a mixed farmer from Bolton, Appleby. Starting out as a carer from Preston I stumbled into a rural life 15 years ago and now, alongside my husband Roy, milk 130 Jersey cows on two Lely A5 robots. We also lamb 200 mixed breed sheep. I’m Rebecca Wilson, the fifth generation on our mixed family farm situated in the Vale of York. I returned to work on the farm full time approximately 4 years ago and enjoy creating social media content and speaking at events alongside my responsibilities on the farm. We run 170 predominantly Suffolk X ewes which integrate with the arable enterprise, allowing us to incorporate herbal leys, clover leys and cover crops with a consistent focus on soil health and sustainability.
