In this topic, Posture Ellie delves into one of her favourite topics ... barefoot movement! When we talk about 'barefoot movement', we are talking about being unshod, as well as wearing 'barefoot shoes' which allow for the natural, unrestricted and unaltered movement of the human foot. Most modern shoes are narrow, cushioned, heeled (at least marginally) and with stiff soles ... and our bodies are suffering for it. The very thing that we are peddled and told that we 'need' (cushioned 'supportive' shoes), strip the muscular function away from our feet and therefore weaken them. Weak feet = pain elsewhere in the body. Once you go barefoot (safely and slowly), you'll never go back!
