Nike stock is crashing after a viral branding photo. We break down the marketing fail, upcoming Travis Scott drops, and more.
In Episode 45 of the 12 Hub Sneaker Podcast, Hugh, Drew, and John dive into the controversy surrounding a viral Nike marketing "pitch" that features disturbing imagery of a man branded with the Swoosh. We analyze how this impacted Nike’s stock market performance and the ethics of "mindless consumption" in streetwear culture. Beyond the headlines, we’re talking shop: from the Supreme ATM and coffin "grails" to the latest restocks of the Virgil Abloh collection and Union Air Jordans. We also explore the evolution of the "Retro cycle" and why brands like Adidas and Nike are staggering stock to kill the secondary market. Stick around for a trip down memory lane as we discuss 90s DC streetwear, the "Boon's Farm" era of clubbing, and why your favorite sneaker influencers might just be "Bamas."

When a bunch of middle aged people talk about shit that don't matter, they can be like and subscribe on YouTube. Leave a comment on all of our social medias. And if you're listening to this on the podcast platform, please leave a review. If it ain't five stars, it don't matter.
SPEAKER_06What up? Switch to the four or five. All right. I count us in one, two, three. Yo, 12 Hub Sneaker Podcast, episode number 45. Big four, five.
SPEAKER_02Uh LeBron's age and Jordan's comeback number. Word. Just got a short circuit.
SPEAKER_01He's 41 circuit.
SPEAKER_06Everybody got the background blurred.
SPEAKER_02J Barr. Who's going to see Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium? I was trying to get to it and I couldn't get through the queue. I know the answer is no for one person in the show. Who's seen Ye when he pops up in town?
SPEAKER_06Who are you talking about me?
SPEAKER_02Are you? No, I'm just saying who here is going to go see Ye on his bully tour. And DC's coming to DC? I don't know if he's coming to DC. I know a lot of homies that went to LA though.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna try to get Jay tickets aftermarket um when I have a chance. I'm gonna do a little closer to the date because people start dropping prices on DC. Yeah, panic selling.
SPEAKER_01Just go through Ticketmaster when you do it. Don't go do no stub hub.
SPEAKER_06Why Ticketmaster they resell on Ticketmaster?
SPEAKER_01Uh you get a better verify resale through Ticketmaster because it's work they're working through them. If you go through Stub Hub, you you're gonna get like a 50-50 chance of getting scammed.
SPEAKER_06Seriously, I've bought on Stub Hub before, too.
SPEAKER_01No, I do. We I work at a box office and we go through that shit all the time. We just have uh Zara Lawson come through. Like a stain on my hat.
SPEAKER_06What the fuck is that?
SPEAKER_02I used to like Zara Lawson's music when I worked retail back because you always heard it. This may want to go change hats for a stain. Yeah, stain. He's coming back with the newest uh Supreme hat. Probably F Supreme isn't it five hand?
SPEAKER_05I didn't hit on that. I didn't hit for you today either.
SPEAKER_02I forgot. Bro, I ended up getting caught up at work, and I told myself, hey, 10 minutes, 10 minutes, 10 minutes. And then I looked at it and it was 1112, and I was like, damn. So I wouldn't even know if I would have had a shot. I just assumed it sold out super quick. I wouldn't have had a shot anyway.
SPEAKER_05That's my it's it sat for a bit, but the the shirt you wanted sold out quick. I figured that one would.
SPEAKER_06What up? We're here. What are you talking about, Supreme? Yeah, yeah. Rest in peace, DJ Screw. I missed the whole drop, but I did pick up something that I wanted from last week and and one of those uh zip up. Did you go for the ATM? It was sold out when I got in. I totally forgot about it. I was on the phone call and then I I had my alarm set, but I just you know, you know how you like subconsciously just hit the snooze or whatever. I just I did that while I was on the call and I totally forgot about it and missed everything. But did it sell out quick? Did you guys pay attention?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it sold out. Yeah, it sold out. I think they only had one. Maybe two. Are you serious?
SPEAKER_01They got a couple t-shirts left last time I checked.
SPEAKER_05Wait, they only have one ATM. I was talking about the ATM. Yeah, well, how many things? How many ATMs do you think they're gonna manufacture? Yeah, they only had like five. At least five, yeah. Well, they had five. Oh, they sold out quick, however many they had.
SPEAKER_06I wonder who bought that. The reseller, or it's either a reseller or somebody who really needs an ATM. Who needs an ATM that doesn't have one? A damn uh damn convenience store their shit's broken. Yeah, motherfuckers be kicking that shit and punching it, and it could be broken. I didn't know this thing was real cheap.
SPEAKER_02I feel like an ATM at a convenience store is a card skimmer in disguise.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I check for them shits now. That'd be funny if it's that magic city or some shit.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that would be good pub for a strip club or something. I still wish I got that coffin, man. That coffin was jump off. I wish you got it too. Actually, I really do because I would have loved to see it in the background. Just like look at that.
SPEAKER_06I would I wouldn't kept it in the box and just waited for the day that I needed it or was ready to let it go. Babe, bury me in this, yeah. Because you could the way you'd get that is have like UPS come to your house and pick it up.
SPEAKER_02They they have like a UPS pickup service, so you could have them pick it up, but it'll cost a you know, a lot of money because that wouldn't the coroner just pick it up along with you when you croaked and just two for one it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I don't know. Who knows?
SPEAKER_02Just have the service at your house at that point. You gotta have to prepare for it. Yeah, I know, right? You know, have a gilded statue of truffles next to your coffin and stuff. Why not, bro?
SPEAKER_06There's a bunch of yo, there's a bunch of stuff that that came out. I don't know if these are rumors or whatever, but first the big thing that people have been talking about. Okay, so Nike stock dropped a shit ton yesterday because of that social media post, right? You guys want to talk about?
SPEAKER_05No, no, with the dude with the looks like the dude's back was whipped and branded with the Nike logo. What? Oh, yeah, yeah, not in great taste. You gotta pull it up on the screen.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I will.
SPEAKER_05I got to watch you didn't hear about this, no, so the stock.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was a person of color. The stocks have been going down anyway. Stocks have been sucking since about like two, three weeks ago.
SPEAKER_06So this all happened around the same time, though. So their earnings came out, and so did the Dis. Both of them were down, I think. But the the social media post that was made did not help.
SPEAKER_02Oh, why, bro?
SPEAKER_06I'm looking, I'm putting pulling it up now.
SPEAKER_02There's so many black people that work in Oregon for this to have gotten cleared. What the fuck?
SPEAKER_06No, it's this is dumb like the like the fucking um LeBron shoe about the the shit where uh you know getting like why what the place he got assassinated at? What the fuck?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I don't I don't think that's quite on the same playing field.
SPEAKER_06I think okay, I'm gonna pull up this. Um, this is all I could uh it's it's a a woman explaining it in a social media TikTok thing. How did I miss?
SPEAKER_02I normally stay off the April Fool's Day, so that's probably why.
SPEAKER_06I'm working on some new shit right here. Sorry, I have a new setup here and I'm trying to get used to it, like monitors and everything. I actually have two monitors again.
SPEAKER_02To be fair, I know it's like been beaten to the ground when companies roll back VI, you boycotted, but you do need different types of people in the room to prevent things like this from happening.
SPEAKER_06That's a good play on words, by the way. You said beaten to the ground. You'll see, you'll see where when it comes up. Watch this. Come on, man. There it is.
SPEAKER_00They knew exactly what they were doing, they knew exactly what this looked like, and they don't care. They don't care. You want to know why they don't care? Because they know that we act like mindless consumers. That's why. And they don't care if they disrespect us. Really intelligent black man who I was speaking with told me a long time ago that they didn't have to whip us anymore because we put their brands on our backs. Let us not forget that a lot of these brands are the descendants of the slave masters. They've used this money to create these brands, and they have been branding us for a very, very long time. Nike knew exactly what they were doing, just like American Evil knew exactly what they were doing with the Sydney Sweeney ad. They know what they're doing, and they're doing it right in your face because they don't fear you will shut them down.
SPEAKER_06So she's absolutely correct. Um now, seeing that, I'm I I don't I could see the branding aspect of it, but at the same time, brothers tattoo Nike and shit all over their bodies anyway. Like I seen white people with Nike branding on them. That that doesn't look extreme to me. It looks like it's calculated at the same, you know, but putting it on a black man and the way, yeah, with the back and all that shit.
SPEAKER_02It's on his back, and it's not tatted, it's not ink, it's like welted, they branded, yeah. Like they use the branding iron on a cabin.
SPEAKER_01And then the way the whip is gonna be done, it was gonna be in a Nike symbol or something like that. But I it was perfectly yeah, yeah. And you gotta say, I don't understand what the big deal is.
SPEAKER_02It's just like it doesn't look good, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's like that dude that um that uh who he got um permanent uh tattooed, all that LV shit, and then uh yeah, yeah, he got the millionaire shades, yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's it's something different to me visually versus ink in a branding, though, like like a permanent welt in your skin, and you normally associate branding with a painful application process, especially in comparison to tattoos, way more painful, and then you brand your property, you put a stamp on it to show that this is mine, that this isn't a thing, this is an object. That's the difference between tattooing and branding to me. Now I know you know, Drew, not trying to play on your uh heritage and past, but they branded Jewish people in the Holocaust with tattoos, so you could you know make that reference too. But in this instance, like that augmentation of a person's skin is a more extreme. I can't even think about it.
SPEAKER_06African cultures do it, the African cultures do it, fratern black fraternities do it. Yeah, it's it's it's you can't look depending on your framing and reference, it's it's all different. I think it was done in bad taste at a bad time, and it I believe it's a European fucking um brand marketing agency. That I don't I don't think uh this is the story I heard now. I might be off.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you're saying it's a European marketing agency that did that. So this is this is the story I heard. I want to say I just want to say the same thing because if you say it's European, they all always do that dumb shit. Because look at that shit, it was um one of those uh Gucci with the new no, it was like eight, no, it's HM, and they had that little kid in the shirt oh the monkey shirt, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, uh but the story I heard was that um they were considering this marketing um like pitch that they did, and to try to convince Nike that they should go with them, they posted what the graphics of it on their social medias. So it went viral, and word got around that Nike was gonna hire them or whatever was trying to hire them to do a marketing campaign, and then all this shit happened.
SPEAKER_02So did Nike themselves put that out, or did this company put it out?
SPEAKER_01It's not on Nike, it's it's uh um like the company put this out, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's saying it wasn't commissioned by Nike last time I heard the so then we can't be mad at Nike for this, right? We could look at that company now as an entity and be like, hey, why do you think it was okay to use black people?
SPEAKER_06You know, um there's other images here. I'm looking oh, that's from 2003.
SPEAKER_02Oh I mean, now that we know Nike didn't commission this or create it, no skin off my bones to them. It's looking at this company as an entity now on their own.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and and you know, people do shit like that all the time. And when Colin Kaepernick, remember all these people, they were putting up all types of shit around Colin Kaepernick and whatnot. Um, racist imagery with using Nike symbolism or Nike product. Uh I'm looking here. I'm just I just Googled it to see if there's any more information. But um this is not from Nike, some random creative director did this using Nike's logo and posted it to their account. It has since uh it has since my nod has been removed. Um, what I can't rage bait.
SPEAKER_02So now H I gotta ask you a question now. You you completely agree with the lady, but now that we know that Nike isn't responsible. I think I look, no, I think it no, what she said is true that not in terms of because what she was saying was like Nike is doing this playing in your face because you won't do anything, but like her whole argument is moot because Nike didn't do it, right?
SPEAKER_06I don't well if I don't no, no, no, no, no, no. Her point about us having being branded or or putting these brands on our body or whatever, because you know, like doesn't Gucci Mane have like fucking Louis Vuitton tatted on his fucking neck or face, or like there's rappers out there who literally Gucci Gucci has doesn't he have Gucci symbols all over somewhere on his body.
SPEAKER_02I don't I can't speak to that, but there's a ton of people famous or otherwise that get brands tatted on their body, of course.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but also you get like I said, to to the social point, is that in African culture, it is not you people get branded, like I seen it, but you know, they have they put symbols on women and body, even on the face, the back, the neck, they you know, like um, there's all types of places where they literally burn some kind of uh cultural symbolism into your body, and it happens in western cultures as well. And then you have to think about more modern stuff, like like I said, fraternities, black fraternities. Man, if you omega omega sci-fi, you got that shit right on your chest or your arm.
SPEAKER_05My buddy, my buddy was a brand master when I was up at school. That's what he did. I was like, How do you brand people like cattle? It's crazy. It hurts, yeah. Yeah, and have you seen the other the reverse branding, the freeze brand where they freeze it on your skin? That shit's crazy, too. Takes out a chunk of your skin.
SPEAKER_02They uh get in the fragment lightning bolts branded on them. Yeah, is it D boss or M boss? Screen printed or not, yeah.
SPEAKER_06It's all like yeah, Gucci got the Gucci, he has the Gucci G's on his back. Oh no, his on his on his fist. I'm looking it up right now.
SPEAKER_02So now if I was Nike at this point, I'm I'm seeking damages for this company because they caused my stock to drop.
SPEAKER_06No, that wasn't no, that's not why the stock dropped. The stock dropped because they ain't sell no fucking shoes.
SPEAKER_01The stock dropped, like I said earlier, everybody's hurting from the stock market, like everybody.
SPEAKER_06Well, there's this little thing called the war in Iran that's going. I think tariffs kind of hurt things, but also this is this is this is gonna be one of the this is a good segue into the next topic. Resale platforms, how Nike's new, I guess you know the all the shoe manufacturers are doing this like staggered type of releasing of multiple pieces of stock to keep hype up and demand down. Does that make sense? Because look at how they did the Nike mind, they did it in limit in tranches, and people are and they're selling out, selling out, selling out, resell markets. They've always done that. No, not no, they they they're re-releasing like every every shoe right now. Like, there's so many retros that have come out. Five-year cycles for retros since I've been in the game.
SPEAKER_02I always thought it was 10 years, they changed the the retro cycle has definitely um changed pace because we're seeing shoes that we're like, wow, already exactly like Bread Force 2019. And if you don't count the reimagined bread for, I'm like, dang, this is quick. Yeah, but to neon 95s to Drew's point, this Adidas isn't the first company to do this, I'm sure, but in my recent memory, they did this when the Ultra Boost was riding high, like they were doing batches of triple white ultra boost every couple of months sporadically. They'd sell out resale platforms were selling for ridiculous prices, and there'd be some who were smart enough to hold out, and when they did a restock, they cop they dry up, resale goes crazy. They did that to the point where the ultra boost wasn't relevant anymore.
SPEAKER_06They did it with the Yeezys too.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yeah, I don't even think they were considered retros because a lot of the production dates were the same, they just sold a set amount online, maybe blessed a couple uh flagship stores, and it was like, yo, starve them out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, and and it's uh it's it's crazy, and and and right now with this uh the Virgil Abloh thing, we're hearing very limited like stock in the beginning, lock out backdoor. Now every boutique has it, every freaking retail, not retailer. I guess it's gonna be on they're gonna do a sneakers drop, right? At some point.
SPEAKER_01Uh that's what that's what the rumor is, but nobody's heard overseas is confirmed, but yeah, not confirmed here.
SPEAKER_06They're gonna feed the people, they're not gonna let this one because it's not with off-white anymore. There's it's already been out there, it's it's got new branding, it's a big commercial.
SPEAKER_05I think there's gonna be yeah, but resales already dropping. I mean, yeah, it's a size 12, it's 550 right now or 550. It's 600 when I last looked, and I was like, yes, off I got sold twice, so and the damn um well, I don't know.
SPEAKER_06I got my raffle from all the Amon Manier or whatever Whitaker shops, and I got nothing. So I have a few more raffles, like maybe three more that I put in for, but nothing yet. And car you got the shoe, right?
SPEAKER_02Oh, complicated story. Heading, but oh you didn't put the payment in time. No, it went in. The bank didn't recognize it. So I got EQL Plus though, so they'll send me a a re uh retry payment thing, and the window was up until 101 p.m. that day, but the email didn't get to my inbox until three o'clock, so I didn't have a chance to retry. But crazy.
SPEAKER_06Sad time technically, I hit, but oh man, because I I thought you put that shit on social media. I was like, damn, good for him.
SPEAKER_02Now I posted, I was like, hey guys, look, and I just time frame.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, sorry, that sucks.
SPEAKER_02I still got a couple entries in locally, but you know, if I don't hit, these are not something that I need in my collection. I think they're dope, but I'm not an all-white shoe wearer. Same, you know, so I wouldn't utilize them like other people who will want them would. So if they get them above me, be my guest. The resale isn't what it was, so it's not like I was looking forward to a big payday.
SPEAKER_06I'm just getting it for the culture, so I'm gonna get two pairs. Yeah, yeah, if I would bet if I get it, if I get a retail, that'll be great, but I'm still gonna buy a second pair.
SPEAKER_02I don't see you ever wearing an all-white Jordan, let alone one is I did.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna beat your kid as the neutral gray, uh yeah, the neutral gray ones, the white white, yeah. Well, the white, the low tops. I have a they're a beater shoe now. I fucking own beater.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know you wore shoe long enough for it to get beat up.
SPEAKER_06Those, I mean, the you remember the neutral gray lows, right? And the highs they had the high. I know the shoes, yeah. They they mass produced. I have a couple of pairs of them. I have three pairs, so that's why I put them on my shoe. I wore them, I wore them on vacation and they creased up real quick. So, I mean, they're in the box still, but I'll probably put them out by the door or something.
SPEAKER_02Maybe you could beat up a pair of those 95s that you have four pairs of.
SPEAKER_06Um, yeah, my 2020 pair is about to get beat down. Yeah, I I got a dirty the other day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, tried tried on snipes. It was like, Yeah, well, your payment went through. Then I get an email saying I ain't I didn't hear from them for like seven days. I sent them an email saying, Hey, where's my shoe? Oh, we're canceling your shit.
SPEAKER_06I got it. So I think a couple weeks ago, remember I said I got the ten and a half on um I think DTLR, and it was just sitting there. I bought it March 11th, and then like the beginning of this week, I was like, What the hell's going on? So I emailed them. I said, I don't want it anymore, just cancel it. They canceled it, and then I got um uh John, I'm surprised you missed out. Um, I think um what was it finish line restock last week or two weeks ago? I got one, I got a pair from them.
SPEAKER_02Everyone's been restocking.
SPEAKER_06Yep, I still want them per them them lake show fours. Uh I got a size 14 and a size four by mistake from DTLR. They just dropped they just dropped another drop for those yesterday. Who? No, it was G I forget where. Oh, they're great. Oh, yeah, yeah, he's right. They are great. I saw the alert for that. I looked at great's gone with that shit.
SPEAKER_01I had gotten them from um Union. Had them, they process everything. Uh, they sent me an email like two days a day later, like, oh, we don't have enough, we're canceling yours.
SPEAKER_06We oversold. Terrible. Well, whatever. I mean, the resale on those isn't too bad, but I don't think I want them that bad to buy a for resale unless it drops down below retail.
SPEAKER_05Uh it's uh 252 right now. It's pretty low. That's above retail. I know.
SPEAKER_06Just saying. And as we go, oh, let's talk about pickups. Did you guys pick up anything? Oh, I did.
SPEAKER_01I've been going all let's see.
SPEAKER_06Let me put up on put up on the camera if you got in front of you.
SPEAKER_01John, um have you been to actually get my other shoes?
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna show you.
SPEAKER_01Nah, so I get most of my SB releases now online because I found I found three stores that will ship to me outside the US if I can't get it in the US. Okay. Oh wow. And they're SBs, and they don't sell out. So funny story. I went and bought uh Mooney Pass from Tiki Room outside US. No, it wasn't Tiki Room, it was uh plus skate shop outside the US. And then two like a week later, a week ago, I get this random ass email from CCS saying I won Mooney passes. The raffle was in January. What the hell? That's crazy. I just got them today. I was like, what the fuck? But they broke my box.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, no, got him.
SPEAKER_01So that's getting go ahead. Oh my gosh. Oh man, what's that? I got a second pair of Mooney passes. Oh, I got that true too. I just got that.
SPEAKER_06Would you get it from the same skate shop? What's it called? What's the I forgot the name of the screen?
SPEAKER_01You didn't hear my story, so oh the playback. I bought them off a uh uh shop out outside the US. I had to pay tariffs on that too.
SPEAKER_06What the fuck? You just you're I think you sent a link. Somebody sent a link to that shoe. No, I saw it on on like stink or twitter. Yeah, so somebody restocked in the state. I bought it and I only got to pay five dollars for shipping.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I had to pay 65-58 bucks in tariffs.
SPEAKER_06You just bought on stock.
SPEAKER_01No, so listen to the story now, and then they messed the box up. I got they had CCS had a raffle in January. Didn't hear nothing from them. Last week I got an email saying I won the raffle.
SPEAKER_06Wait, so they messed up boxes from CCS? Yes, I remember a couple when you were on the show last. I think you were talking about that shoot. They looked, they looked, they was that the shoe you were talking about, or it was another SB that's CCS. You like you emailed them or some shit, and they ended up nah. That was Premier. Oh Premier. Okay, my bad. I forget. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, these are these are super nice.
SPEAKER_06I missed the whole drop, yo. I missed the whole drop.
SPEAKER_05I gotta I gotta say, I am shocked how nice these are, especially they come with the two different colored swooshes. I want that shoe so bad. I'll put that. What is the name of that company? Note, it's uh Manchester.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, man. Note Manchester, something like that.
SPEAKER_05And even when you take the swoosh off, it has the sock liner in there. That's fine. I just got I just got these today. Aren't they crazy? And get them on night. The suede is so nice. No, I had mine from Blue Tile. I got mine from David Blue Tile.
SPEAKER_06Every restock, man. I missed every one of them. I want that shoe so bad. I'm gonna buy a resale, I don't care. I like the way it looks. I did get these because you know what's funny about peer pressure? It's not even peer pressure. Like Drew says this, he was like, Yo, that shoe's dope. And I'm like, you know what? Let me take my device. I know you do.
SPEAKER_05I bought you. I don't know why that's funny, but you you're sitting there with it in hand.
SPEAKER_06I'm like, I like this and you're like, got it in hand. I'm all about the gang gang and shit, yo. I I kind of like, you know, I mean the red and the blue. There's way too much going on. That green, the green throws me off. That's the only thing. If it was just red, blue, and black, I fuck with it a little bit more. That shoe not loyal. This shoe is you can't wear that in my hood. I can't. I don't know where I'll wear this joint. Number one, I'm not a 95 guy like that. This is six pairs. No, I only got one. I bought it, I bought it impulsively. It was it was on Nike's neons.
SPEAKER_02You got like four neons, you got one of those. Yeah, you got four neons. Talking about that.
SPEAKER_06Drew's fault. I I blame Drew. Oh, wait, but this this shoe, this shoe.
SPEAKER_05Those are nice. Oh, I want that color.
SPEAKER_06I missed I missed that drop. I got the original pink is popping in the camera. I got the OG, I got the OG pink phone from last year. What do you know about what do you know about that? Easter. This shit is fire. These these in hand, nah, you gotta see them in hand, yo.
SPEAKER_02I'm all for price rising again, but those could have stayed big. Not that these are fire. I I bought a second pair of wish at all.
SPEAKER_06Why did you need no pairs of those? So so I got this$20 off from finish line. So I used my phone. Okay, that's fair. I wish all right, that's all right. And then no, and then uh Wish ATL had a 25% off, and they only would charge him five dollars shipping. So I was like, all right, cool, got that. And I ordered that one, so I'm gonna wear this this weekend for Easter. And I mean, I got it, I got it on um I know I know all of y'all didn't like this shoe. Well, not you, I don't know, John, if you like this, but um, I didn't even look at these. I think I took them out the box already. The uh green T-Rexes. These are crazy nice not for retail. These are crazy nice. Yeah, these are really nice, y'all.
SPEAKER_05I'll say this that silhouettes is comfy. I just that colorway. I just you're complaining about the bandana shoe, the paisley, and that color is more appealing. Like, I don't get it.
SPEAKER_06I mean, it's easy to it's easy to wear, it's easier to wear, I guess. But the but the materials on this are really nice, it's all suede up here. Have you put those on feet? Have you put that silhouette on feet? I can't wear this one. This is a size 12. I got a 12 and a half coming from um Travis Scott's website. You don't find those to fit big. I I I heard they fit small. Somebody told me they fit true to size. They fit like a one. They do look wide, yeah. Yeah, they're wide. Yeah, that's oh okay. Well, I got a 12 and a 12 and a half, so whatever. This is 12. Oh, and I got the those Nike Mind slides that came out today. We saw yeah, yeah, the green ones, those are fire. I'm joined to I don't have the slide anymore. I sold my fucking other one for like$300. And I got more. What else did I buy? I shouldn't have been buying. Let's see.
SPEAKER_02I think I got another pair of these.
SPEAKER_05That's a nice.
SPEAKER_06I need that shoe.
SPEAKER_05I'll sell you my pair. It's brand new Deadstock.
SPEAKER_06That's the 94, right?
SPEAKER_02The the Diamond Turf. Yeah, the uh why am I forgetting what these are? But yeah, they came out in 94. Yeah, I think that's the one that came out in the house. These came out in 93, actually.
SPEAKER_0693? That's the first pair of sneakers. My nice pair of sneakers my mom ever bought me.
SPEAKER_05Well, I'll gift them to you. The box is jacked up, but they have no more.
SPEAKER_02If it's a race, Bors out of 10 is gonna get jacked up.
SPEAKER_05So I'm like, I didn't try them on either.
SPEAKER_06No, they're literally sitting dead stock in my the near your other shoes that you've worn or by your sock drawer.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, fucking blew a load in them.
SPEAKER_06I took a shit, all the things, it just sucks.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, um yeah, that's the I did get the uh greedy 2.0s, the who the 95s, the greedy, the greedy 2.0s.
SPEAKER_02Is it 2.0 or is it like 5.0? They made like six greedy 95s. Who's selling those? I missed that one too.
SPEAKER_06I wanted to get that.
SPEAKER_01DTLR the stuff.
SPEAKER_02Can you literally within the last five minutes say you don't like 90 vibes? Yeah, I want those talking about your third pair of 95s, the greeties, the neons, and the bandanas greedy.
SPEAKER_06Isn't that the reverse like neon or something?
SPEAKER_05It's like nah, it's no waiting color, all the colors. It's oh okay.
SPEAKER_06That's the what's oh no, you that's the one you were showing off uh uh on the chat, right? On Instagram, right? Is that the trunk? No, whenever I said I like colorful shoes, and then those are the wovens. Yeah, greedy. Let me see. Greedy 95. I know what you're talking about. I think I know these 90. Um fake sneaker head alert. And I got uh that's me, yeah. Oh yeah, these I seen these, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I got two pairs of those uh new Nike SBs, the pink ones that that come out. I didn't go for those. I want to see them in hand.
SPEAKER_02I'm waiting for the crease tour so I can grab some SB Air Force Ones.
SPEAKER_01These joints is on sale everywhere. Well, I'm going to that uh skate uh park thing up in Baltimore.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's the same thing, the crease tour. I think I might join you. Why not?
SPEAKER_05I like the uh did you see the tomsums or the some toms? Say that again, girl. The some toms, the some toms, what is that the Nike SP the top yeah? They remind me of like unions, like the union dogs with the weave pattern.
SPEAKER_02When is when is the uh event at VU? Uh Saturday. This Saturday. Yeah. Fuck. Yeah, I might have to proxy you. Send you the bread, because I think I might be a little tied up to make it the Baltimore.
SPEAKER_01If they you want the uh Air Force One, if they have it?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I heard they're only doing the black pair. No, uh I don't want it, so oh if it's if it's the light or woodish pair, definitely. If it's the black one, nah, I'm cool. Black force activities out of my realm. I'm a taxpayer, law-abiding citizen, so I don't need black.
SPEAKER_06Oh, I did have another pick. Oh, that oh, finally that that that um um Nick's Moab that I ordered from uh Instagram person finally came through.
SPEAKER_02It took nine. Send them back out because when I was in the hotel, they got returned to Cinder, so they were at my building for like a week.
SPEAKER_06It's so funny. So I'm over here. This man, we on the text. I'm like, yo, where's my damn shoes? He goes, I was like, bro, I sent those goddamn shit. Yeah, no, no, but he then he said he sent them, but I'm like, Can I see the receipt? Because this is like two weeks after the fact, right? And then you said I got sent back, and then and then um what I do he because I guess you you should have told me that by the way. That did I didn't know. You didn't know. I didn't know they were waiting for me at the house. No, but this is the funny part. I go, I did a um like a chargeback to the Venmo. Was it the Venmo? Did you see it go through? When I asked for the money back.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, I didn't even see.
SPEAKER_06No, because I was texting Drew, I was like, yo, I didn't get my shoe yet. And I was like, I'm gonna I'm gonna charge back, I'm gonna do a um, it was not venmo. What the fuck is that shit? Were you set Zell Zell? Yeah, I didn't ask you for the money back on Zell, and then the day after I did that, you you shipped them out, so I was like, Oh shit.
SPEAKER_02In the words of Dave Chappelle, you will never get your fucking money back. At least I got my shoe.
SPEAKER_06I didn't buy him DS, right? I said you said they're VNDS, right? Like super clean. I think I probably didn't one time. Yeah, yeah, I was like this little dirt on them.
SPEAKER_05Wait, you're gonna buy a VN DS shoe from somebody, yet you're sitting here talking all this shit about oh you're like nah system white people.
SPEAKER_01He talked about the first one both of though. He said he bought his first use shoe, yeah. From um real real, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Nah, I trust car, you know, like yeah, buying from a homie or buying from a platform like the real real, you know, like the condition of it is not gonna be trash, yeah.
SPEAKER_06And the reason why and Drew, I'm joking with the whole thing. I I don't I don't like to wear other people's shoes, but like I could look at Car and be like, nah, I know he don't smell funny or something like that.
SPEAKER_02I'm taking my shoes off, I'll put the limb roller, yeah. Brush in there. When I'm done wearing shoes, I got this right here.
SPEAKER_06There you go. I'm I know you clean your shoes too, Drew. I know you told me you said you clean your shoes all the time. After everywhere, yeah, something about when it comes to white people and shoes, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I forgot who I was watching it with, but Drew's Reel popped up about you know having so many sneakers, it's like having a warehouse, yeah. Yeah, and it was humbling. I said, Holy shit, Drew really got sneaked. Like Drew's not regular, but like when I saw that wall of sale SB boxes, I said, Yeah, oh this man different, bro.
SPEAKER_06Oh, you haven't seen my closet then. Shit, you want to see S have a whole closet of XB SBs.
SPEAKER_02Because I I know not as nice as Drew's, but nah, Drew really when Drew always like just give me what you want for him, or I'll send them to you for free. I'll be like, I see why. Because like, god damn, right?
SPEAKER_05I just need him out of the house.
SPEAKER_02Like so sick as whenever I think, man, I got shoes or too many shoes. I looked at Drew's real at least five times. I was like, Jesus.
SPEAKER_05Yo, I was going through my sneaker room and I'm separating by brand. I was like, I have so many new balance and Adidas that I've never worn. This is ridiculous, like out of control. I felt like you. I was like literally walking into the abyss and being like, I didn't remember I bought 16 of these. Why did I buy 16?
SPEAKER_06I was looking at what I currently because I don't I don't look at my shoes no more. I just put them, I open up the box. I'm like, oh, I just bought I don't even open it up or look to see if both are there or anything. I just throw it in the pile. I was going through some shit the other day. I forgot I have three pairs of union fours. I thought I had I like I sold a pair, but I guess I have four pairs.
SPEAKER_02I thought you had some in storage too.
SPEAKER_06No, no, I don't have anything in storage.
SPEAKER_02I used to in my old apartment. Yeah, no, I meant like ghost storage. I thought you had like the black ones on gold storage.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, no, no, I have uh no you union four fours, not the um the ones. I used to want the ones or the fours. No, I'm talking about the fours. No, no, no. Yeah, I bought yeah, I bought two pairs resale that I I forgot I bought one pair resale, it was still in the box, like in the the cardboard box that it came from stock X in. Because I won two auctions. I put a bit in because I was like, Oh, it's cheap. If the price goes down, I'm willing to pay. Like, I think I think it was like I put a bit in at 280 and I ended up getting it or some shit, and it just shipped to me. And I was like, This is a while ago, long time ago. And I ended up getting it, I threw it in the pile, and then the rest of the shoes, like I got the restock and I got the the one from Union, so I had four pairs, and I did I didn't realize because I sold one and I was like, Why the fuck do I still have three pairs of these? That's crazy. I didn't even realize it. Forgot yeah. Oh wow, I just got my uh anybody need a union four. By the way, I got you. You need a neon, don't you, John?
SPEAKER_01I'm good. I I if you might as well give him a pair. No, I will because I got a retail. I'm good coming to DC. I need it. I need to actually stop buying shit for real. For real.
SPEAKER_06No, I'm saying I got you. I got you. I'm I'm coming with bearing gifts. I'm coming down there because I'm I'm hooking up my homie with a bunch of shoes. Um, but I'll I got you because I got I think I got three pairs of size 12. So no, bring a pair of those damn unions.
SPEAKER_02You don't have the four? Who got who doesn't have the four? You don't have the four? I don't have any union fours. Are you serious? I don't have a single one, dude. They're like under retail. I'm gonna imagine. Well, it depends on the color. Like, if it's the mosses and all that other, I don't want it. What do you mean too?
SPEAKER_06Are we talking about the same shoe? I'm talking about the union. Wait, I'm sorry, under you said union four. I'm like, how are you talking about?
SPEAKER_02Undefeated, undefeated four. I was about to say, yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_06Cause like what saying union? Wait, union made a four.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yeah. You've you've you've owned that four because you talked about having it in goat storage.
SPEAKER_01I have four guava, taupe, black, and the Lakers.
SPEAKER_06Yes, I had the mustard colored ones. That's the top, that's a taupe. That's the mustard colored one. Remember the mustard with the purple? Yeah, that's I got that one. I had the black and yellow and the guava, which I which I had a size 14 of, and I sold those for two racks. That's uh ever. Two racks. Somebody, some NDA motherfucker bought that shit. Had that's we need nobody spending two two G's on that. That shoe is dope, but for size 14. Okay, yeah, it was a I'm sorry, it was the undefeated four.
SPEAKER_02Okay, now I'm gonna undefeated. I still got a pair of unworn right here in my face.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, oh man, yeah, there's too many shoes. Drew, you got I mean, I I you do have way more shit lane when I saw you walk into that room with all them shoes. I was like, damn.
SPEAKER_02I like the fact that all the boxes were together, it was aesthetically pleasing.
SPEAKER_05Yep, makes you feel like you're at a like a I just I've been I gotta thin it out, man. I think I have like at least 270 Jordans alone, like just Jordans, whatever you're looking to get rid of SB wise. All right, thank I can eat I can't. That's the I can't get rid of my SBs, so I'm willing to get rid of everything else. I don't know if I can get rid of my SBs, maybe some of the doubles. I'll let you know.
SPEAKER_02I don't want to pull your teeth on anything that you cherish. The doubles I'm definitely interested in. Yeah, whatever double you got, I'll take a pair.
SPEAKER_01I got like five pairs of quagmires.
SPEAKER_05Whoa, I'm I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
SPEAKER_06I don't know if I want that pair.
SPEAKER_02Quagmas of fire.
SPEAKER_06So I heard okay, so there's another thing I saw. So there were speaking of this um Yeezy stuff, Yeezy stuff. So I heard that they are there was a Yeezy boost 3.1.5. Did you see this shit? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yo, I got a lot of if anybody wants them. Oh, they they'll do old Yeezys, all that's you held on to them joints.

SPEAKER_06Bye. Peace. What is this? Oh, yeah. So, yeah, I saw this thing. I was like, damn, this is an ugly ass shoe. Look at this. Oh gosh, it's ugly. It's so weird. It's like a Roshi. This is like a Roshi. This is definitely like well, the what is it?
SPEAKER_01The three what was it? The 350. I don't remember the numbers.
SPEAKER_06It's a I think this was like a a 350 and a and a yo, what's about that toe box? 350 v2. It's a 350 V2 sole, right? And then an upper of a 350, right? The original 350.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the original 350 was a was a makeshift uh roach run.
SPEAKER_06So yeah, it looks more like Roachy run though. Here yes, yeah. It's ugly, and they were they were gonna put this out at some point. Um was it a natural evolution? That's a weird evolution. I guess it's one of the prototypes. And I don't know if this is a rumor or not, but him and Adidas are making men get out of here. I saw well, I saw a social media post. I don't know if it's true or let me see.
SPEAKER_05I can't see I can't see Adidas getting back into bed with him.
SPEAKER_06I mean, Adidas worked with the Nazis back in World War II.
SPEAKER_05Uh I'm just saying that I just can't see him do it, but I yeah, in this world, anything's possible lately.
SPEAKER_06Oh, April Fool's. I didn't even see that shit. I didn't even see that. They put that up there. Okay, my bad. I got fooled on April Fool's Day. I usually don't get fooled on April Fool's Day.
SPEAKER_01Oh, well, only one I got fooled was they said uh Bordeaux Sevens was coming back, and I was like, I'll get that. I'll give you those. My um 2012 still hold up, but yeah, that was April Fool's two. So that's wow. And they always show the same oh, Nike Nike and Kanye are coming back together, they're gonna draw some new uh Yeezy ones every year.
SPEAKER_06Just trying to stay up. Well, anything else going on? I mean, that I mean there was there was so much it's kind of all hit at the same time, the Nike stuff.
SPEAKER_01And the only thing not a lot. The only thing that I know that went on that people are uh going on this Bama is that dude Kari, uh sneaker fetish or whatever his name was.
SPEAKER_06Oh, what happened with him?
SPEAKER_01So um, you know, um un unheard of brand, they're out in I think like uh Oh yeah, Cincinnati. So he they they hadn't um had those uh people come out, you know, influences and stuff like that. And you know, he comes out with some women's pants that go all the way over the shoe, and you know, Twitter, X, whatever you want to call it, are gonna go and be Twitter and X and just go on this guy because he's got these flare pants that make no sense. I'm looking it up. Was this on Reddit?
SPEAKER_06I'm looking on Reddit on 19. It's probably on it's probably on he put on his Instagram or anything like that.
SPEAKER_05No, so so I had a bunch of people that went to that release. They said it was a good time. I I would it's crazy how long people were waiting in line for those piggy runners, but yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_07I had over there. I live right near Cincinnati.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they came home. Like I had one friend that flew out from Seattle, he bought every single pair, every single one. I was like, man, that's a lot of cash to drop on on the piggy, and a lot of times those things go under resale or retail, right? Yeah, yeah. I didn't even care for the shoe that much. I saw it.
SPEAKER_06I remember I sent the pink one through on the on our other chat.
SPEAKER_05I like the green one with the pink hit. I think the green, I forget what the what it was called, but the green one was cool. I couldn't pull off the yellow joints. That's a huge one.
SPEAKER_01I feel like all the I feel like all the shoes that they did, like colorway-wise, were on spot on in point.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yo, unheard of makes I I I mean, I have their first release, the uh Erica's poem, that's a killer shoe. I don't know if you guys seen that, but killer shoe, killer meaning, and Phil's a good guy.
SPEAKER_06Like the credit that I like their um what's that? Uh the air uh the the shooter Jordan wore before he had his one. What's it called? The airship, yeah. They did airship, a green one. It was all green, you know what I'm talking about?
SPEAKER_01Uh-uh. I'll go look it up. Because I remember there was a green and white airship, but I don't remember anybody else doing that. That's an AMA. Yeah, the AMA did that. I love that airship. I wear that all the time.
SPEAKER_06I have that too. I just have a warning.
SPEAKER_01Because I know awake did an airship. Yeah, I don't know than that. Than them two. That's the only people I know that did.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I don't remember unheard of doing an airship. Right.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, a Nike airship. Let me look it up.
SPEAKER_05Nike Airship. I don't think Phil didn't deal with Nike. Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_06No, this is they did it, they did a green, a all green shoe because I remember I saw it. I was about to buy it. I was at their store. That was a store in Dayton.
SPEAKER_05What the f they might be selling a Nike, but I mean it wasn't an unheard of branded shoe, I don't think.
SPEAKER_06I'm looking at his now.
SPEAKER_05He's been with Adidas.
SPEAKER_06Unheard of. No, they did a Nike collab. Like, this is maybe two, three years ago. Oh, they had a okay, they had Anonymous and an unheard of Nike SV. Well, they had the Nasty Boys, right? Wasn't it 2015?
SPEAKER_05The stores called Unheard Of, right? Yeah, Unheard Of brand. And the only only Nike I know is the was literally the Nasty Boys. The SV.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_06Sneaker stores. I'm looking up stores now. Bam. Damn it. Yeah, Unheard of, right here. They did a Nike collab. I thought it was on the airship. I might be wrong. Was there an all-green airship that came out at some point? Uh that was Suede.
SPEAKER_05It came out maybe two years ago. Oh, you're thinking of corporate? Yeah, look like toothpaste.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think you're thinking about the I thought you were thinking about the Chanel one. No, he's right.
SPEAKER_06I think it's corporate.
SPEAKER_01It's a corporate airship.
SPEAKER_05They're out of they're out of Ohio.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, they did have it. Yeah, they did have one. I forgot.
SPEAKER_05It looks like toothpaste. The color is like toothpaste.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know about all that, but yeah.
SPEAKER_06That's a nice shoe. No, that's their name. That's what I was thinking of. This joint. Yeah, they they're out of Cincinnati too, right? Or they're in Ohio somewhere.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, they're out there. No, um, that's their little uh tag corporate. It says got them on the back.
SPEAKER_05It's it's a cool shoe.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I thought they were darker green.
SPEAKER_05Actually, no, no, I'm telling you, it's like fucking toothpaste. That color is toothpaste.
SPEAKER_06I don't think it's uh it's not that great of a shoe then.
SPEAKER_05I tried to fit those. I was like, this this is a hard shoe to wear. Like that's a hard shoe to put a fit together with.
SPEAKER_06Looking them up. They they are they have a they have a a shop in Dayton over here. So uh let me see. I just want to make sure that they are in Ohio, so it looks too uh yeah, yeah. Midwest sneaker shop, Indianapolis, and Dayton. Yeah, and Cincinnati. I knew it. Okay, my bad.
SPEAKER_05Corporate hasn't done hasn't done much in a minute.
SPEAKER_06They have not, not since this shoe. I like their logo. That's very that industrial. Oh, they got the bad bunnies. Wait, these sat like the other ones, like nah, we're going for crazy money. The brown one now. This one sat. These are fire. What is that?
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, bro. This man said the mid was fire.
SPEAKER_06That color is dope. It's got little stars on the look at that joint. Look at like a little kid's shoe. Look, I hit the magnet. Look, I hit the magnifying glass. Oh, this is I hit the magnifying glass. This is how big it got. Look at the fuzz.
SPEAKER_05Well, we'll get you a backpack to go with it.
SPEAKER_06Walk around in the mall. A little clear backpack like kids have at schools. These are fire too. Come on. Oh my god, this is a mid, too. That's a high, right? That's a mid. They're all mids. Women's. I'll never understand these stacked. These stacks are this is so weird. Even if I was trying to get a little more height, I don't understand how you wear that. Woman or man. Nah, I can't do it. Can't do it. What is this? Women's trunners. Oh god. This is I need one of these though. These types of not I wanted solid camo, though. I think I might get that easy one. 60 bucks. You can't beat that.
SPEAKER_05Shit. Get it three years later.
SPEAKER_06Right. Wait, somebody bought one of my Yeezy hospital slippers. The fucking um the SL1s. I sold them for$75. The white pair. I'm like, all right. Pay$15 for that. Yeah. That's a good flip because people don't want to wait for the shipping. So you order them. I ordered them in 20 February 2025. I sold them now. And I have a whole bunch of them. 25 bucks. What are you gonna do?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_06I can't I can't get rid of them sock shoes though. The one the little um the things that look like um scuba shoes or whatever. Yeah, nobody wants those.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's yeah, I can't imagine why. It's so stylish and and chic. I gotta wear them.
SPEAKER_06Have you guys tried those on yet? And anybody buy them?
SPEAKER_05Hell no, I didn't buy that garbage.
SPEAKER_06I have two pairs, I just haven't tried them on. I did flip one pair for 200 bucks, though. That's insane. Yeah, but because remember so remember when they first came out, they were 200, right? And then they lowered the price, so I ended up getting the restock at 25 bucks. I ordered another pair. I was like, I can wait for this shit, and then I sold the pair that I got for 200, and then and then they were given refunds. Remember that on on the because they overpriced it.
SPEAKER_05I didn't buy any of that.
SPEAKER_06I think I got the refunds. Yeah, I resold a lot of it. It's hard to list some of that stuff though. Oh, and I got I got some stuff off that Travis Scott SpongeBob drop. Did you guys pick? Did you guys like that shit?
SPEAKER_01I like there was the hoodie. I feel like they were eight years too late.
SPEAKER_06Nah, no, no, no, no, no. Let me show you something.
SPEAKER_01Y'all are no because he should have he should have made this when he went and did that Super Bowl appearance with track with Spongebob. He should have just shocked up, dropped that shit then.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that was a long time ago, though. The green the green shoes are sitting. Wait, what's going on here?
SPEAKER_01It's uh it's oh just assume just lower pairs, like eights and sevens and stuff.
SPEAKER_06Man, I'm I'm trying to go to the shop.
SPEAKER_01People don't like that silhouette. Nah, they don't the color of the shoe, they don't like the silhouette, they don't like the shoe.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I like it.
SPEAKER_01They always kind of like that uh the white one with the brown and the red swoosh. A lot of people like that one.
SPEAKER_06I can't see.
SPEAKER_05I like the first one that dropped, but that's the only one I have. I got those. I wear it though.
SPEAKER_06But what about the neon with the khaki joints? Those are fire, too. Uh what are those called? Nah. Neon with the khaki. What I'll show you. So I got the neon with khaki. T Rex, right? Yeah. I got the shoe right here. I got the green jaws. The green jaws. Well, I want to show I bought the shorts. I hope I get them before the summer's over.
SPEAKER_05And then because he's trying you're not showing anything on screen.
SPEAKER_06I just got I just got my um uh what was the collab, Drew? Remember, I showed you guys on the pod? The the one um fragment. The fragment and Travis collab. I got the jacket and the uh what was it? The baseball jersey. So I bought these shorts. I like these shorts. Okay, who cares? And um, I got what else did I buy?
SPEAKER_05Unexciting right.
SPEAKER_06Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
SPEAKER_05Camo shorts.
SPEAKER_06I bought a hoodie or something like that. Let me see. I forgot it wasn't like the sponge, I don't wear kids' clothes. It was another one, it was more of a new, like a plain color, had like green, like something all over it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Why don't you look on his website?
SPEAKER_06It's not on there anymore.
SPEAKER_05He took it off.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's gone. I would have gone uh right to the website, Sponge. I'm going back in here. SpongeBob. Actually, that that that beanie's done. It's kind of fire. Beanie right here. Let's see, we'll see if they have it on here. They ain't got it, man. Uh don't matter. Travis not crap. Oh, I should got some of that Jack Boys merch. Yo, Travis Scott merch is so hit or miss, yo. Some of it's good, some is bad. Mm-hmm. You just gotta figure out which one it is. Oh man, in the heyday, man. Man, you buy anything off of that site, you resell it for at least you know, t-shirt. So$50 t-shirt was going for like 200-300 bucks when he was yeah, he was hot.
SPEAKER_01I had bought some uh tour merch when he was on tour for uh Apple. I still got the jackets and shit. That shit probably won't isn't worth anything now, but at that time, something.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I mean the fans will come out and buy, but a lot of his fans aren't like tuned in like that. See, remember these? I had these to the called shit and for fragment this stuff. These I sold it right away. I ended up selling mine for just a bit over retail. Look at them now, 50 bucks. Nothing crazy. This I sold for I think 90 something dollars. The double XL.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. I think his merch is shit. Quality sucks. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh that jacket was trash. Both of them actually. I bought two jackets. Jacket was trash. This this I got, but the how much they going for?
SPEAKER_06Oh, 400 for the double X. I got a double X. Who's buying? No, last sale 100.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna lie, I did buy a pair of shorts from him, like some pink shorts. Like, and those those were pretty good. I wear those a couple times, those are pretty good.
SPEAKER_06These Nike, I mean, the stuff he does with Nike, you know, and Drew, I told you this that it's I think it's just better quality because Nike's producing it. I'm not buying the straight up merch anymore. I got that night in uh uh McDonald's all American joint from this is some years, I think it was a 2020 or 2021 drop. That shit was I should have sold it when it was hot. Man, it was going for like 400 bucks at one point. Yeah, I don't know how much it is now. Wait, actually, let me see. I'll put it back on screen. Yeah, put that up. Yeah, it was going Travis uh McDonald's. Oh, it should be all American. Is it what it was all American? Right, yeah, there it is. The number 20. Yeah, look 98 145. Yo, this shit was like four or five hundred dollars at one point.
SPEAKER_01Jesus Christ. Yeah, the window, you lost it.
SPEAKER_06I can't I can't rock this though. I would not wear this. I can't wear this unless I'm like maybe by the pool. But I paid how much were these when they came out?
SPEAKER_05I can't too much, whatever it was. That shit's trash. I know it's trash, but it's like who the hell's wearing that? 150 when you work at McDonald's worker?
SPEAKER_01Like, I don't understand why you're McDonald's all American. Anybody rock any Travis merch like that ever.
SPEAKER_06No, but like, like, no, remember when the throwback jerseys were hot and people used to get the custom, like they do the custom like college jerseys and the McDonald's all American, like the LeBron James McDonald's joint. This was fire in his day. Like, I just bought it because it was part. Remember the them, they were selling the chicken McNuggets. LeBron plays basketball. I'm saying it's a basketball jersey, but no, they were selling chicken the chicken McNugget pillows. Remember how much them shits was going for?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I do remember that.
SPEAKER_06I bet yeah, I know you probably would have bought one of them shits if you was. Did you buy one, Drew?
SPEAKER_05No, I I don't. I mean, I like Travis Scott's shoes, but like I don't go crazy for that shit. Like, I just you see, it's too hard to get, and I'm not paying the resale for that stuff. It's not that great of a shoe. The McNugget pillow, almost 300 bones. And he's not the first one to put a reverse swoosh on a shoe.
SPEAKER_06I just it drives me nuts. Uh Dennis Rodman did, and um LeBron James did.
SPEAKER_01That's right. So the so do y'all think these uh Jordan ones are gonna be a high resale? Which one? The pink ones?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, these come up. Oh, yeah, I love those shoes. That's my favorite silhouette, both of them. But actually, no, the one with the red soups I like more than the white and the white and the pink.
SPEAKER_01So you think it's gonna be like a thousand dollars? Yeah, I think it might make them real limited.
SPEAKER_06You think so?
SPEAKER_05His stuff, I I think though what was it, the reverse olives? I think they're probably the cheapest now, as far as the Jordan brand, like Jordan 1 high or low. But yeah, all his stuff, it's all his Jordans, uh, and they never drop in price, really. They've come down a bit, but I think those pink ones are gonna yeah, I think they're gonna be super crazy high. Especially when was the last time he released a Jordan 1 high? Is it the fragment? It's a low. This is a low, it's not both lows, both lows.
SPEAKER_06It's not on stock X yet, but um, yeah, nobody's selling them yet. The see that everybody was saying when they first saw the memory, they were like, Oh, it's gonna be like the Canaries. Canaries are actually going to be a good one.
SPEAKER_05Canaries not much though. People don't like that shoe.
SPEAKER_06450. Shit. I just sell mine. Shit. No, I have a 12 and a half. Sorry, the woman's no, you do have a 12 and a half. It might be 12 and a half. I don't know, that's a good price. I want to get rid of them shit. I I never keep my Travis Scott's. I sold both my brown ones.
SPEAKER_01I sold mine uh as soon as I got them because somewhere was like the dude that was running the raffle, he was like, Tell me your size, and if you tell me your size, that that's the one you get. So I had to sell that one because he didn't have no big sizes, so see, that's the thing with these man.
SPEAKER_06These Travis Scott's. I still have my um my fragments, the Lowe's, the original.
SPEAKER_05Now that's true. I like I want that too, but I'm not paying that right right around the height of tax time.
SPEAKER_06Man, somebody put a bid in for 2000 on GOAT, and I was so tempted to sell. I was like, let me see if I can squeeze 20 2010 out of them.
SPEAKER_05That's I would you're terrible.
SPEAKER_06Somebody undercut me, man, and I now it's down back to 1700.
SPEAKER_051700 got greedy, got greedy, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but I'm like, I'm trying to get rid of it because I need the money, but I'm like, yeah, okay, hold on to it a little longer next time. Well, but you never know. Next, the fucking world is on fire. Shit. Motherfuckers want to put gas in their car before they buy a pair of shoes now. What's going on? Right. What the fuck's going on? Oh my gosh. Uh I had some more. Did I have more topics? No, I did not. DD's okay. So that was a lie. The stock we talked about. Nobody here hit on any of the Virgil Ablos, which is sad. Are you guys anybody uh getting on resale or no? Like if the price goes down enough.
SPEAKER_05No, I'm not I'm not gonna pay for that shoe resale.
SPEAKER_06If I get one wear it, I mean, I will if I have two pairs.
SPEAKER_05You ain't wearing that.
SPEAKER_06I haven't.
SPEAKER_05I put expensive shoes on my feet, but it's nothing to do with the price of it, it's the look of the shoe. I mean, it's shoes fine, it's great. It's again blue, it's icy blue, purple, purple, it looks blue.
SPEAKER_01I'm not wearing an all-white shoe. I'm sorry. I just that's just something I can't. I'm not gonna do. That's one thing I don't do. I don't buy all white shoes. I don't really why because number one, they crease bad, number two, they get dirty real quick.
SPEAKER_06Can't so I'll never understand this shit. So, like, look, if you were okay, a riot dunk or this shit. The riot dunk.
SPEAKER_05I what do you mean? You can't really compare the two.
SPEAKER_06I can compare the two.
SPEAKER_05You can because they have similar materials.
SPEAKER_06They do what the riot SBs have similar materials.
SPEAKER_05I know it's suede. Well, okay, you could say that about a lot of shoes that are suede.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but again, the similar materials. I just think, and if you think about it, what the riot dunk was, I forgot.
SPEAKER_05Right, it was the uh it was the like cognac color, like that deep maroon with that green, like forest green. No, the riot dunk.
SPEAKER_01The right dunk by far. Yeah, the riot dunk by far. I wore these uh that emboss on that tongue. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I wanted the special box on this so bad. Uh the special box was so cool. Yeah, yeah, that was a cool pack.
SPEAKER_06Did I pay? Oh man, they're cheap as fuck now.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, no one liked that. They were that shoe never resold for anything. No one liked it. I I overpaid for my resale pair, and it it's a great shoe, awesome materials, cool story. I bought great details. These drives I love that shoe, but they check terrible, man. Toe box creases so bad on those.
SPEAKER_06Is this a regular leather toe dock?
SPEAKER_05I don't remember.
SPEAKER_01I wore mine on Haley Milson. It's a plastic toe box, if I remember right.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's what's the other one? Something school SB Cep.
SPEAKER_05C how you suppose C C S E F C S C F is that what you're talking about? Like the Scantron stuff.
SPEAKER_06No, I don't know. The college one, no, no, no, it's a white pair of dunks.
SPEAKER_05That's what I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_01C Ceph. Yeah, you you had it. It's not a college one. You had it.
SPEAKER_05It is, it is because of the taskbook of college. I if you would listen to me, I know. Listen to us. We're telling you what to put in there, and you're arguing. Are you sure? C isn't cat, s isn't Sam, E is right. There it is. This one. Oh, yeah, right.
SPEAKER_06Hell yeah. These are dope, but they are the materials are shitty. It's a college, is it's for college. It comes with a tassel.
SPEAKER_05Tassel, and I I got the white layer off of mine, so it's pink underneath.
SPEAKER_06Oh, it's pink underneath. So I got a great story. I bought these from um skate shop in Boston. I forgot the name of it off the top of my head, but uh it got lost in in some kind of thing, and they helped me track it down and they reshipped it to me for free. They were so cool, and they were like, Oh. We're so sorry, and they hooked me up with like a 20% coupon and all that shit.
SPEAKER_01Excuse me. Support your local skate shop.
SPEAKER_06All right. Orchard. That's the name of the skate shop. Orchard. Cool people there.
SPEAKER_05Man, Orchard's a big that's a big, they're pretty big. Okay.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I called them there. They were real friendly. And I called back. They're like, Hugh, you got your shoe yet? And then I was like, Yeah, I was emailing the guys. Like they had like three people working with me to get my shoe.$120 dunk.
SPEAKER_05All those skate shops are super uh they're just better to deal with.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I mean, Nike customer support's the best to deal with. Like, if you could call them and say your shoe got lost, and they'll give you a free they'll they'll they'll either reship it and or they'll just give you your money back if it's sold out. It's happened to me where the shit was said it got delivered, and it was it was this literally a day late. My UPS man messed up and said it was delivered, and he drops off the next day. I called them same day that I said it was not, you know, was there and it wasn't, and they're like, Okay, well, it's sold out. We'll just give you a refund, and the fucking shoe just shows up. I'm like, Yeah, you know, thank you. I buy enough from you. Thank for the free shoe. That's happened twice, twice to me. I say Nike charted to the game. It's it's pay this is payback, payback for them for them whips and chains on that marketing campaign. Wow, wow, that's payback, full circle, full circle, full circle circle moment, man. Jesus Christ. Uh let's see. Actually, you know, we have not done pickups on this show in a minute. I mean, not pickups, um release. What was it? Releases, releases. Well, what's the best place to go to release? I'm sticking. See sneaker news is never right.
SPEAKER_05Uh that's the only place I go, even though it's never right. I just feel like it's the most comprehensive list.
SPEAKER_06I'm just gonna go sneak. Um, actually, yeah, I guess you're right. Sneaker news. Goat has a good thing, but I don't like reading off my phone. Sneaker releases. I'm gonna pull these up on the screen. I don't keep up with sneaker releases anymore. I just kind of look, I haven't only been buying Nike. Um, haven't been following New Balance or Adidas at all. I miss those bad. I I usually, man, I used to get everything, but I'm I'm really sticking with Nike now. God, they're still making these Vomero premiums and all that shit.
SPEAKER_05I kind of like the ones that they're dropping. The it they kind of look dirty with the the numbering on it. I think they're releasing what tomorrow or sometime this week. But I the the price on those things are insane.
SPEAKER_06230, yeah. Do you guys have any any of those? Nah. Kari buys them because he does like run club shit. He likes the chest runners.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what I want to do. I want to use them for the gym.
SPEAKER_05I don't like Nike running shoes. And I want to try these. Not a fan. They just don't hold up well, in my opinion. Not a good gym gym shoe either. Uh like the Nike Vomeros.
SPEAKER_06Uh Vomeros? Uh I like the the old Vomero 5s. I rock a ton of them.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they're nice.
SPEAKER_06I'm yet to try these, and I kind of fuck with these 2000s. Cool. Those are comfortable. Yeah, I'm just a thought, man, for like these two. Like, I like what New Balance is doing with their basics, silhouettes and shit. These not these really modern looking.
SPEAKER_01I haven't really seen anything that's coming out for real, for real. Speed wedges.
SPEAKER_06Speed wedges. What the fuck? You can go with your balloons. Yo, yeah. Right. Okay, Chris. You know, husband.
SPEAKER_05Everyone's loving the the vans with the flames. I don't these drums.
SPEAKER_06Oh, these drinks.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Oh, it's got that little distressed look too.
SPEAKER_05Look at that. I never liked them when they I never liked them when they first came around. I need these.
SPEAKER_06I want these in white. This is my the I had a pair of vans with the well, the palm. This is is that leaves or palm trees? Those are leaves, huh? They had palm trees all over them. And that was like one of my favorite pairs of shoes when I was a kid. I thought it was so cool. I thought it was like Miami Vice type of shit. I got these joints today.
SPEAKER_05I never saw Tubbs step out in any vans, man.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_06No, but they had palm trees. I was just thinking, like, yo, like I just thought it was so cool. And I would wear like a um what was I but I like my I had these these khaki pants and like a Hawaiian shirt. I had like one of them Hawaiian shirts, and I used to love wearing those shoes with them. I was a kid.
SPEAKER_01It was like it was gone.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I got in late and I still hit on the green ones. I wanted the red ones, but the greens, all right. I I'm I'm thinking I'm gonna sell them if they're still over 250. So I don't care. I like I heard these don't they don't work out. I if I could get a regular pair one day, I will. But if I could sell these shits, I mean I'm not gonna wear that color around the house. There's no point. This is like you step out in these, like you want people at the grocery store to notice you. This is what you wear.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, yeah, where'd you get yours from?
SPEAKER_06Nike, Nike, yeah. I got on the I went in through the app though. Uh I usually buy stuff off their website on my desktop, but I was like, you know, I heard the app works better for buying shit if you want to get it. I want to get another pair of mine, too. These are bro, if anything, get get a pair of these and just wear them. You'll love them. That's if you wear like regular shoes on a regular basis. I wear them right now. I still want to get another colorway of the chaise. What do y'all think of the the ones with the laces that he was walking around with? The what the laces out, no shroud.
SPEAKER_01I'm not a big fan of the chaise anyway, so yeah. I'm not either. I guess I gotta see one in hand to see how it is, but I'm not a big fan.
SPEAKER_06Does Nike make money off LeBron shoes? They keep putting out colorways every every shoe that they and they're$210. And they're always you can always pick them up on sale. Always is the technology in those shoes really that good? Like, are they putting like zoom air and air max and everything all in one shoe and hyper fuse and hypertension? Like, is it all in one shoe? I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I mean, the 20s, there's plenty of tech in them. I just people just don't like lebrons, bro.
SPEAKER_06Nobody cares about tech. People people wear them. I mean, when they get they hit the outlets and they sell out, but that I mean they sell them through the outlet. It's never not, you know, there's um, I mean, there's no shortage.
SPEAKER_05What outlets you're going to.
SPEAKER_06They always at the outlets, bro. I always see LeBron's. Meaning they're always exactly, they don't sell out. No, I'm saying, but people buy them. That's what I'm saying. On sale. If it goes on sale, people buy it. I buy them on sale.
SPEAKER_05Let's say you're representing every person that buys LeBron's. You're you're the use case for every LeBron buyer. I'll take that back.
SPEAKER_06I am not because I have not bought a LeBron since the LeBron 20. And the only reason I stopped buying LeBron's because I stopped hooping. So if I was still hooping, I'd be buying LeBron's on a consistent basis. But I used to buy like almost every dope colorway or exclusive one, like up until LeBron 20.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I haven't bought a LeBron since the 11.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_06That's a last thing to say. Yeah. That's a long time ago. Yeah, I can't. I mean, do you hoop? Do you hoop or anything? You run, walk, nothing. Okay. There'll be a day when they're like those spray, those, those, those lebrons that were kind of big and bulky are gonna be in style again. The fours? One day. I mean, I'm talking like LeBron, eighteen sevens. Yeah, yeah. No, no, I'm talking, no, no, but like not the not the super old one. I'm talking about that the the silhouette where he was at his peak, where he was doing from I think maybe from 12 to 18. Like those are all like that air max kind of they were mids. He did a lot of mids. He went from high top to mid, and the um they had the um the fly knit, the then the knit material, that really good knit material. Those I hooped in those all the time, but they look they do look good with like pants and shit, because they had a few colorways that really you can rock normally. The only thing that was obnoxious about them was the huge air bubbles. So you wear boots. Well, I wear the LeBron. No, no, no, no. I'm not doing no. I'm not I'm not thank God Eddie's not here because I don't want to have that argument. You know, talking about you don't know how to dress if you don't wear basketball shoes with jeans. I'm like, what the fuck? You don't know how to dress, motherfucker. Who like who wears a performance? Like a new school performance basketball shoe with jeans does not make sense. I don't care what anybody says. And the fact that now casual wear, and Drew, you know this cargo pants, sweatpants, jorts, sweatshorts, all that shit is fashionable now. Like it's you could wear that shit to the club, and people don't care. So, yeah, you could probably rock a basketball shoe with that shit, but uh with jeans, nah. Wear LeBron's to the club. I wear LeBron to the club if they make sense. Yeah, man. Shit, you catch me outside and them shit. You see what brothers wear to the club now? Crocs and shit.
SPEAKER_05Come on, motherfuckers out there with crocs with the widgets in them or the bidgets. Did we talk about this? Like back in the day, you couldn't even get into the club with fucking sneakers. Yeah, I mean you couldn't bake. I went to I went to a restaurant the other night, and they were having not the other couple months ago, and it was and they wouldn't let me in with my baseball hat on. I was like, what the fuck are you talking? Like, you this chick barely has any clothes on her tits are all out and shit. I was like, Let me take my shirt off then. Will you let me in then? Like was it a nice restaurant? It was all right. I mean, it wasn't anything fancy. I always feel like steakhouse. No, it was just kind of like a local bar with with like finger food.
SPEAKER_06Like they're racist, man. They just I got that shit. I was this is a long time ago, 2003. Uh, when I was living in Long Island, New York. Actually, I'll take this off and we'll talk about that in a second, those things. But um, I was living in Long Island, you know. Uh, if um you from the east. Well, uh, you've been up to New York, right, John? You I mean, you do you know what Long Island's like? You ever been out to Long Island? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's basically like a small town in Alabama in the middle of somewhere in New York, and it's totally like offset from you know, there's always that town where there's or like it's like you in the hood, there's mad black people and they're doing black things, uh, and then you go over here, it's white people doing fucking racist white people things. So I grew up half my life out there, right? And I didn't realize at the time because I was like, whatever, I'm in high school, kids don't know this shit, but their parents was mad raised. Everybody, you don't realize this until that Trump era came around. Everybody on all my friends from high school is putting up all this crazy shit about you know, whatever. So back in 2003, I moved back there. I'm living with my best friend, white dude. Shout out to Kenny. We're living together, and we go to this bar that he frequents, right? I walk in there and I'm wearing duh, I'm wearing a valore suit, a rockerware velore suit, yo. Like, and that was the shit back then. 2003 black album, rockerware was selling 90 million a year. I'm like, all right, cool. I'm I'm styling, right? I spent I got it at like TJ Maxx or some shit. It was 3X, 4X, it was big as shit, but I was much bigger back then. So I'm like, I'm styling, I'm walking in a gray and black joint Rockefeller, right? And I go no, no, no, no, no sweatpants or sweat, and I'm looking off to the side, right? There's a dude in army fatigues, like literal army fatigues, like he just got off the fucking base in army fatigues. Another dude over here wearing jeans and sneakers and a hoodie. And I'm like, but like this is what? And I'm like, I'm the fucking dive bar. He's like, no, and I'm looking around, I'm looking at white, white, white. There's a little Spanish dude over there. Well, and I didn't see no brothers in there. I was like, damn, and my friend and my my best friend, but Kenny, my best friend's brother was with me, and he's the type, he's a social justice warrior. He just jumped up, he's like, That mad racist, yo. He just starts yelling at dude, right? He's dressed the same, he's almost dressed the same as me, too. I think, but he thinks he was wearing G I don't know. But at the end of the day I was like, damn, I was like, let's just go, man. Let's just go, and that was it. But that that was the only time I ever got like like went to a place that wasn't, you know, you know, kind of with with an un what's the word, like unspoken dress code. Like you go to a steakhouse, and John, I think you're about to make that point. Like, all right, you're gonna go there with a little bit of maybe you put on a nice sweater or not, I wouldn't say even a button, maybe just a polo, just something regular, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like I had I had that happen before. I went to um Morton Steakhouse, and they was like, Yeah, you can't come in with yeah, they was being racist, bro. No, it is dog. I've been I forgot what I had on, but he was like, Yeah, um, normally we don't allow you to come in with this on, but since you uh they wanted my money, it was like, All right, we're gonna let you in.
SPEAKER_06Okay, but yeah, they gave you a warning, that's fine. But nah, when they don't when they turn you away, they being racist because that's like every steakhouse I've I've been to like the nice Fogo de Child downtown. Bro, you go there, I was in a hoodie, t-shirt, baseball cap backwards. They let me in that bitch, but that's more like a Brazilian steakhouse, it's a little more social and whatnot. But um, you know, most of the places nowadays they don't have a dress code because they don't want your money, yeah. They don't give a shit. They're like, You got money, yeah, and you don't look like you're gonna rob us. We good.
SPEAKER_01I went to uh the club back in the day, like when the mega clubs were big in DC, like Xanza Bar and shit. Yeah, so you can go in there with there's people that will go in there with jeans, shorts, whatever, but they're praying, they're paying a premium to get in there.
SPEAKER_06Or they got table service, bottle service, right?
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. They ain't even got that. They're just recognized people that just walk up and like I I've definitely been to like dream of love, yeah, and had shoes on, and they'll be like, Oh, you got tennis shoes,$60. Yeah, yeah. Remember, they used to do that, like, it I'm out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I got I got a story about that. One time we went there, me and uh a couple of my friends, and then um I didn't have dress shoes at the time, so we ended up going to pay. We went there early. Remember, they used to do the open bar. We it'd be like 7 p.m. They drew they had this thing in DC where you do open it, would be open bar and free food, and it wouldn't be nothing crazy, it'll be it'll be those little little little like um basic soul foods, yeah, it'd be wings, mac and cheese or something and shit. Yeah, like like that bread, some kind of bread and and and some wings, like just tons of wings. And they you you pay a cover, it'd be like twenty dollars, and they had rail drinks, and it wouldn't be any they vodka cranberry, vodka soda, nothing crazy, and or or whatever, whatever cheap liquor was there, and then they had these this food, but it was everybody's after-work crowd, so you see a lot of brothers from DC, they'd be all suited and booted up, the women coming off work, and then the people who wasn't working, like me, was coming in you know, regular or whatever, and and um we'd have they always had that. Remember the driven dress code? Button up, it was always a button-up shirt, yeah, and and dress shoes. You could not wear sneakers and button up, and you could wear jeans. Maybe I don't know, they didn't make us tuck it in, did they? I don't remember that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, no, they didn't make us tuck it in.
SPEAKER_06But yeah, my my uniform, I wore the same button up every fucking time I went out, yeah. For for a while until I started buying real clothes, but um, there was one time we got there, it's like around that time for the thing, and then I went to pay less shoes and paid$15 for some brick ass dress shoes. I'm talking like you, I don't know what they were all plastic, like it was one, it looked like it was a 3D printed dress shoe. It was all plastic, like almost hard plastic, but I paid$15 for them joints. I was like, I'm gonna wear these every time I go out now because nobody's looking at your shoes back then, or yeah, I guess I people I was rolling with, I didn't care. Uh it's dark in there, they're not gonna look at that shit. That's true. I don't go to the club with nice shoes, man, nowadays, unless it's like a dark sneaker or something.
SPEAKER_05But I don't remember when's the last time you went to the club, like you're talking like I'm gonna step out and go to a club.
SPEAKER_06Um, 2022.
SPEAKER_05I bought out some 2026, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, moved and I got old. Yeah, but we've been to nice spots like lounges and shit. I did bottle service on the lounge over here for for my my wife and her friends, and it's cheap as shit, yo. Like you spent, and this is with food and drink, it was like a little under 300, and five people were accommodated back in the day. Yeah, dude, I went to 4040 in 2004 when they first opened up. We bought a bottle of boons farms and shared it amongst each other. Dog three hundred dollars. Yeah, three hundred dollars, and and they put they put it in a bucket too. That's the crazy part. They put the boons farms in a bucket, and I was with some girls, and it was crazy. And and and then mind you, I was like trying to flex, not flex, but trying to like this is the cheapest thing. That was 300. This girl whips out the her mama's Amex but buying bottom bottle of bottle of Moe, fucking spent like I think it was like 700 something, yeah. And I remember yo, when you was buying bottles, like they give you the champagne in the bell, but it'd be like$1,200 just for two bottles back in back in those times. Now bottle service is like you know, it's like going out to dinner.
SPEAKER_05Yo, if you're paying 200 bucks for Boone's farm, you're special. It's just being able just to sit there, and then the work I know I know a bottle service is, but yo, who's bringing Boone's Farm for bottle service? That's what they kind of club.
SPEAKER_06Are you going to they had a real no no wine? No, no, no, no, no. They had a wine list. You had to buy a bottle. So like you could buy whatever bottle you want. Luckily, my friend, I was just contributing.
SPEAKER_05So you're the high roller walking in being like, Yo, I want bottle service. I was not a high roller. Give me that Boone's farm with the screw cap. Make it the strawberry flavor because that should taste great. I was not the high roller.
SPEAKER_06This is funny. I wish we had ice in the glass. Yo, this is 4040 in New York. Shout out to my homegirl Nami. She was there with me. It was a couple of her friends, a couple of my friends, right? And we're all hanging out. I yeah, I bought some wine, whatever, it was cheap. It was the same bottle that these brothers. There was a group of brothers sitting right next to us with the same fucking bottles of Boons Farms, and it was like four of these dudes, and they sipping that shit like it was fucking the finest of champagne, toasted and shit. I remember because we put we just kind of laughed at him, even though I was we were broke too. But I was just like, yo, there's like four dudes over there, 4040 with the fucking bottle of Boons Farms. Oh man, and I was broke. Like that, mind you, I and I'm sitting here making fun of you. Yeah, yeah, right.
SPEAKER_05Like, yo, after this bottle, get me some MD 2020, right? Right with some Madden, imagine yo.
SPEAKER_06Remember when Alize was the thing? Remember, like some Thunderbird. You get the blue bottle and then hypnotic. No, no, Alice was the red belt bottle. Hypnotic was blue.
SPEAKER_05Hypnotic was blue, and then you mix them together.
SPEAKER_06What was that called? You remember Incredible Hulk? Incredible Hulk. Remember Night Train? I don't know that.
SPEAKER_05Uh remember Night Train? I remember Night Train. What's that? It should put you in the grave, is what that is.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, man. When my when my kidneys and liver were good, man, we had some good times. Shit, shit, man.
SPEAKER_05I'm one stake away from dialysis. It's like homeless people wine. Night train was like legit.
SPEAKER_01I know you didn't have this back in the day, but I don't know if y'all remember when Cameron had uh purple days.
SPEAKER_06I drank that shit. Come on, man. I worked at Def Gen back. Yeah, we got bottles of that shit for free. My man used to bring that home, you know.
SPEAKER_01That shit was it was purple, purple hypnotic.
SPEAKER_06Yo, I remember those day, man. We used to get um Armadell. We used to get that shit for free. Anything that the rappers had, they used to bring it up to the office in Universal Records in New York. So I always had they like my my man would bring home any of like the I have the um the S Doc Carters. I still have my pair, they were size 13. He was like, I couldn't get your size, so I was like 13. I wore them shits too. I wish I didn't wear them because they were something now. But I have an original pair of S Doc Carters, they don't have laces in them.
SPEAKER_01Something now if you uh if you put if you uh list them.
SPEAKER_06I gotta find them. They're in my garage somewhere. Like I have a box of like beat up shoes because I wore the shit out of them. Um they they quality though, they'd like the um Gucci sneaker, right? So long as they don't crack, they're not cracked, they're still there. Did you ever hold a pair? You ever see a pair in person? Yeah, I've seen a pair.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, they're really buttery full of leather. Had them. I remember they had them when they first came out, and then they then G Unit came out with theirs, and then all of that shit went down. You could you could have found some S Doc coders for like 20 bucks back in the day. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_06I remember the commercial. They did, yeah, with the uh him and 50 rapping. That was dope. I'm on I'm on sneaker fetishes. Um, I don't see any of this stuff. I'm not gonna look it up, I don't even care. People really don't like him, huh? Even though we got a big following. What happened? I'm trying to find what all you're him wearing.
SPEAKER_01I say you try yeah, his flare pants. Uh I don't know that. Hold on, I'm just gonna put a disclaimer out there. I don't know the dude personally, I know people that do know the dude. He seems like a good dude, but for real, for real, I just think he's a bama, just to be honest. He is kind of like, yeah, he's from he's literally from Alabama, yo.
SPEAKER_05I was I'm a fan of his content, so I I do like his content. I do, I understand.
SPEAKER_06I understand, but hey, would be no, I'm just kidding, Drew. I don't get picking on Drew too much. That's all right. Christy, we go. That was funny. Christy was going in on you on the on the politics spot. I was like, you just you just damn. Look at that. He's some bad he's from Alabama, Huntsville.
SPEAKER_05Huntsville, right here. He's a good storyteller. If you like somebody that tells like I'm not defending him, but I think he's a good storyteller. So I fuck with him.
SPEAKER_06I just don't like his voice. When I first I started watching his YouTube a while ago, I don't like the way he talks, like his voice is annoying to me. He sounds like some like some kind of like um local newscaster, you know what I'm saying? Like the way he ar he he he inflects or articulate. I don't know where the fuck it is. I just don't like it. Uh and that bother what is that?
SPEAKER_01I said he had it right the second time. Yeah, articulate. Articulate.
SPEAKER_06Yo, I know why Drew likes him because he he reviewed the uh mania airship and gave it a good review, I think. I'll look at his YouTube right now. Wait, what did I do to this? Why is this all like small now? Pause. I had this, I had this like bigger before. Oh no. That's what they all say.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_06Oh, there we go. Yeah, I uh here we go. Boom. I'll just say that. Whatever. That didn't do anything. I thought it, whatever. Yeah, he does like well. Very good. But listen to this man's can you hear that? Okay, you hear that?
SPEAKER_03I go by the name of Carrie, and I want to thank you guys for joining me here today on sneaker fetish. This is gonna be a fun one today. We are taking I hate that voice.
SPEAKER_05So he's he's changed the uh affect in his voice. So his newer videos, he's not as you still watch as well. He pop, I mean, we're we follow each other on TikTok. Well, I I sorry.
SPEAKER_03It's gonna be the time for Nike's glorious light. He still sounds the same slightly. And I've seen a lot of people talking about these two lawsuits that are kind of linked together involving two very is it?
SPEAKER_06Oh, is that two years ago? Wait, let me see. Video talking about the Nike lawsuit. Yeah. Latest. Okay, here. He's as a Nokia. What is this? Is he really wearing a cause shirt? He looks like he lost some weight, looks skinny as fuck.
SPEAKER_03Damn. Fairmat something was one of those shoes that, even though it was supposed to be for cross-training, found its way in pop culture as a lifestyle shoe. That blend of he still sounds the same to me. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05His TikToks feel different. I don't know. Maybe I'm maybe I'm tripping. Feel different, sound different, feel different, whatever, bro. Fuck you talking about, bro. I ain't gonna call it. I can say like the most normal thing, and you will find absolutely something to to say about it.
SPEAKER_06I'll just look, I just I just think it's hilarious. Yo, so Kari hates this man. Our Kari hates this man. Greg from Sneak just hates this man. I don't I still don't understand.
SPEAKER_01I don't understand why. Yeah, because he's a Bama. I totally understand.
SPEAKER_06This dude, so people that listen to our pod, the the sneaker fetish guy. The only reason I guess a lot of people within the the more purer community that we feel we're a part of don't like this dude for some reason. Meaning, and but a lot of like they do what does Greg call him? Sneaker thoughts love this guy. So it's just it's one of those things that just it baffles my mind. I I I I I like I said, I just don't like his voice, that's why I stopped watching his content. But I can see why people might not like him, but I don't follow him on Twitter though. So I don't know what I don't I'm not a Twitter guy, so like when people say shit on Twitter, I'm like, okay, it's just words. What the fuck y'all mad about?
SPEAKER_05I don't I don't fuck with X.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's just yeah, that shit pops up. I have to scroll past.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I mean you have to take the time out to read shit. And if I'm indifferent to words, you can say the most heinous shit about me or whatever on Twitter or X or whatever the fuck you want to call it, and it won't bother me. It won't bother me.
SPEAKER_01Then they're gonna say, Oh, you wasn't outside. Fuck yeah, I was outside. Fucking, I was outside when first complex came up. A lot of shit that was uh going on. I was outside, but I don't fucking promote the shit. I'm just being mini, I'm just gonna be there. I'm not just gonna be there just to be like, uh, I got all these. I I need to know and document this shit. If you were there, you were there. Yeah, it is what it is. We need some historians, we need some doctors, we need some people that's been out there just to make things known. I get it, but to me, the niggas a bama. Sorry to sorry to say the N-word, but yeah, he's a Bama. Are you good?
SPEAKER_06Drew can say it.
SPEAKER_05No, Drew can't say it.
SPEAKER_06You get a pass.
SPEAKER_05Don't say it. No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_06You get a pass, Drew. Come on, say it.
SPEAKER_05I ain't taking the bait, bro. I ain't taking the bait. I don't say the word.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. What's Delroy? Um, the dude from um Del Roy Luno. Luno. You do you ever see that that scene from that movie?
SPEAKER_01No, that was like movie. That was uh uh movie. That was a real talk.
SPEAKER_06Holy shit, I thought that was from a movie. That's not from the movie. He was like, Why can't white people say the n-word? And he's like, say it. Damn, everybody's listening. Go say it. Yeah, that was yeah, that was from the top show. That's wild, yo. That's wild. Oh man, Drew, you just keep stepping in it, though. It's funny, it's not like it's just you just so easy. The setups are so easy, but you're like cool. But like, like, like me, you yourself, and I'm sure a lot of other people, you're cool with self-deprecation, meaning that you can take a joke.
SPEAKER_05Hopefully, I just go cut myself in the bathroom.
SPEAKER_06I know you're a little sensitive sometimes. I mean, when you're having a bad day, you're having a bad day, and I could tell. I've learned I've learned how to navigate my new friendships with people because you don't really like you, like John. I don't know you as well as I know Drew now because Drew and I like we do a podcast, we talk all the time. Yeah, and it's a little different. Like, I I always you know I always push the envelope with my friends to the point where it, you know, they'll get pissed. And when I finally crossed that line with Drew, which is really quick, um, I realized I have to take a step back and and not be so you know, me and Cari have been at it on on the pod when he gets I know his line a little bit too far.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, as long as you know you went a little too far.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I mean, as long as I don't say nothing about Jeff Staples, me and Carrie, you know, that's his man's now, you know what I mean? So um, and I don't really push buttons like people that I talk to casually. What John and I are cool, we haven't even met in person, but I'm just like, yeah, we're cool, we talk, whatever. You push everyone's buttons, bro. It's you're you're like a switchboard around there. You've been working. I mean, besides co-host, I used to push his buttons, he's gone now. But like, John, you've been in and out of this this this little framework here for the last five years.
SPEAKER_04I'm I'm cool, hey. Cool, we cool.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we cool. You're cool. See now, if we met in person, you're cool, but you see, he's not addressing the button pushing thing, like you putting him on the spot. You push buttons, you cannot sit here with a straight face and say you don't push. Yo, go get your wife, go get your wife. I push show push the buttons this morning, yo.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god, we won't go. See how quickly you broke. He's like, Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. She's gonna she's gonna say the same thing. Yeah, I did. I actually I got I did I did this morning. I pushed some buttons. Her mom, too. We was on the I had a call with her mom this morning about the um podcasting trying to close this deal for them, and um it got a little spicy. So it happens, it happens, but that's just my personality.
SPEAKER_01But that's when you get to really in face know we know each other, so yeah, it happens. Happens with me and my girl too. Haven't I I believe it probably happens with you, your you and your wife, Drew. Actually, no, it's funny enough.
SPEAKER_05After three tries, like being this being the third, I I I I've realized that pushing buttons doesn't usually fare well for me. So I I steer clear of that.
SPEAKER_06Your wife's like a care bear, yo. Like it's just like she's just one of these people you want to walk up to and hug them. Like you see her, you're like, Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05She's hard to put because she's like a nice person.
SPEAKER_06She looks, I mean, she doesn't look like a nice person. Like, like if I was if I was like looking, if she was walking down the dark alley and I was a stick-up kid, I would like look at it, like, damn, I'm not gonna rob her. She looks too nice. I'd walk up and give her a hug and be like, Oh, you mucked up lady. See you later.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, from the from the clips that you share on online that comes up on my feed, I'd be like, She's she's pretty cool, she's nice people. So, yeah, well, yeah, she's ideal.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, meet and meet her in person. She's like, She got my wife loves her. Um, my my friend Sean, him and his wife, they all clicked up. They're talking about she was talking about visiting them and shit in Texas when they come out there.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah, y'all can come down, y'all come back, come on down.
SPEAKER_06I'm thinking either Texas or Cali this year. I haven't been to Texas, so I want to I wanna do it.
SPEAKER_05You're not missing much.
SPEAKER_06He just tells us to come visit and everyone's like, You're not missing much.
SPEAKER_05Come on, uh, you'll have a good time. I just better shit. Better go to the club. Club. I don't know. Hopefully, you can get in. I we went to this like uh speakeasy, and yo, you have to go through, you have to call like go into the phone booth and like do this secret call. They wouldn't let me in. They're like, Oh, you don't have a jacket. Like, fucking jacket. Like you just like level, everyone's gotta level up to get in here. I need a fucking jacket, like a smoke. They're like, Oh, you could borrow. I ain't wearing some nasty ass smoked in the out of here. It was a cigar lounge, like literally, it was a cigar party. Yeah, you gotta come in. Yeah, but I was dressed nice, like I wasn't looking like he was going to the park.
SPEAKER_06I don't know what you uh like I was fit on. Well, if jackets are if it's a requirement to make you wear a jacket, you gotta wear a jacket if it's a requirement, dude.
SPEAKER_05It's a secret kind of fucking place, it doesn't have like on the door jacket required. You gotta do like secret knocks and phone calls. How do I know they didn't need a jacket?
SPEAKER_06I mean, I would have Googled it to figure that out, like what the dress code is. I got that from my wife. My wife always checks to see what there's a dress code.
SPEAKER_05So I didn't, it wasn't part of the plan. We were meeting the someone, it was someone's party, like birthday party, and we were going out, and he's like, Oh, let's go smoke some cigars. And we tried, I tried to get him. He's like, Oh, you don't have a jacket. Fuck you, and you're I ain't spending no money here.
SPEAKER_06You know who blocked you at the door? It was sneaker fetters, he was the guy at the door. He said, uh you like him now? He blocked you for getting out of the club out of the club. You said this is green? That's purple. Wait, um, John, you said the uh the Virgil ones are the laces are purple. The they're purple. No, that's that look that was almost like a minty type of greenish, bluish.
SPEAKER_01Are you sure that's purple? I said the laces are purple. I said nothing about the white, it was white though. Come with purple laces, my friend.
SPEAKER_06Oh, I thought you meant that the shoe had some purple in it. I was like, all right, but no, it's like a bluish, it's like a bluish, icy bluish type of jumper. I like this shoe, man. Uh it's going straight to the toe if I get two pairs. Yeah, I'm getting two pairs, yeah. Oh, hopefully, I didn't win any raffles yet, or at all. My SQL didn't go my QL, whatever. So I'm gonna go. SQL? What are you SQL programmer now? Oh, that's mine. Yeah, I got I got three L's in a row. Three L's in a row here. I'm still waiting for Kith. I don't know if Kith did Kiff give out their their wins, losses yet.
SPEAKER_05Oh, wait, here I did get a I just took a loss on Rooted and uh I just got a bunch of L's.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so Kith, I got a I got a I got a no for the Nike Mind 01s, but I didn't get one for the Amma Maniers yet. Oh okay, maybe I maybe I'm still in the running. Did you get a response yet? Nah.
SPEAKER_04Alright, so let's still still hope.
SPEAKER_06But um I'm I mean aftermarket's gonna be decent on these. I mean, I'm not if I'm not paying like 600 bucks, I'm cool. I'll spend three four hundred on these. I think it's worth it. Nah. But I have to get two pairs. I can't I can't not put a shoe on my foot unless I have two pairs of them, which is weird, but I gotta do that.
SPEAKER_05Uh they haven't drawn, yeah. They haven't drawn for Kith yet. Drawing ends today, which is weird. Kith is sometimes really weird with this stuff. I've never hit on Raffles.
unknownActually, I did. Did I?
SPEAKER_06No. Oh no, I did. I hit on some stupid like Converse Mickey Mouse Coca-Cola collab way back in the day. I thought I could resell the shoe, and I couldn't.
SPEAKER_05I like the early access they give you if you have status with Kith sometimes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'll I'll buy some of their clothes sometimes, like some shorts or something.
SPEAKER_05Their clothes ain't as good as they used to be, though. I will say it used to be. Although I did go to the Kith store in Dallas that they opened. That was kind of cool. The Kith Treats? No joke, man. That stuff was so fucking good. What's that? They got a Kith store in Dallas? Didn't know that. Yeah, they just opened it uh, I want to say like six, seven months ago. So it's not it was a nice they did like that contest where you could design your own Kith Treats. So I went down there, tried to win, did not win. Clearly.
SPEAKER_01Ice cream was good though. Yeah, yeah, ice cream is good. How come they never had it?
SPEAKER_06When is um Supreme dropping that that um shore microphone? Hopefully soon.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, haven't released they haven't said what week they're gonna drop that.
SPEAKER_06Man, I can't miss that drop. I need that. I can't wait to change this mic out. My mic will be right like this.
SPEAKER_05I know I'm gonna buy a resale, but I'm just saying, like I bet you they're gonna be crazy expensive resails.
SPEAKER_06My mic is gonna well I have the um I have the turntable. I'm gonna turn tables are now. I have two pairs of those shit. You go get the LPC. They had an NPC, they dropped an NPC a while ago, right? Yeah, yeah, they did. Yeah, I didn't go for it. I'm not a I don't play with beats, I'm a DJ. My setup is nice though.
SPEAKER_05Of course it is. We wouldn't expect that.
SPEAKER_06You see my setup, right? With the custom everything. The got the custom pioneer mixer. I'm gonna put on the screen because people ain't seen that shit. Yeah, well, I gotta go look, uh, see how much this goes before the stock. Always with the flex, always the flex. Yeah, you can share your screen if you want. I don't give a fuck. Got anything to show. Pick up your pick up your camera and bring it out to your garage. Show what you got for that bitch. This motherfucker. Talk about flexing. Jesus Christ. He got like three or four of them things. I ain't gonna say what they are, but let's just say he could buy a nice, nice couple of houses in in Arlington County.
SPEAKER_05They're all for sale. So if anyone's looking out, let me know.
SPEAKER_06He could buy a nice house in Arlington County.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_06Nah, I can't get a couple of his cars. Or at least a down, nice down payment on a house in Arlington. What the fuck am I looking for? Oh, yeah, Supreme 1200. Let me see. Ah, here it is. Yo, these are so nice. Oh, they're not that bad. How much did I pay? I paid$1,600 for these. Aren't they$1,600? Oh, they were$1,500 retail? They're barely going over retail now. I mean, under they're under retail. Jesus Christ. It's such a nice turntable. Nah, I'm sure, but nah. So ain't nobody paying it. Well, this this uh retail, this this turntable goes for$1,200. They were six were they$1,500. They marked it up$300. But this isn't even a good um uh uh techniques$1200 turntables because the the 12 MK7, this has like metal and plastic. The old 1200 turntable was all metal, and you just said they were good. No, I'm sitting here and say no, it's good, it's a good, it's good because it's a good supreme turntable is nice. If you want to play some records, it's cool. But like the old school ones I used to DJ on aesthetic.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's dope. Nobody nobody's using that at the club to play to mix records. Nobody's doing that. I'm just like you using that you're using that for your basement, just in case a you got a girl over and you want to show her your support turn table because you want to play you want to play your viral collection that you just bought from urban outfitters and shit.
SPEAKER_06Other than that, yo, can I tell you taking this out to you? Ain't taking this out to the club. Let me tell yo, bro. When I guess I used to get vinyl from record stores back when I DJ'd, right? Get doubles everything. Last time I bought vinyl was literally at Urban Outfitter. I was like, they had a better vinyl selection, and I was like, holy shit, because yo, that I didn't have the blue. I stopped buying records in probably 2000. No, I used to get them for free in college because I worked at the radio station, used to jack them from the radio station, but I ain't bought a record. I was an urban outfitter. This is probably like 2012, and I'm looking around, I'm like, holy shit, they got like all the Jay-Z albums. I want I just bought new, you know, like new versions of the shit I already had that was all scratched up because I used to actually play my records at the party and shit. So I bought all the Jay-Z albums, whatever they had, any hip hop joint that I that was kind of current. And now vinyl's like, you go to a record store now, man. They charge you 40 40 dollars for$50. And I'm like, damn, LP's a double LP back in my day or our day. We all about the same age. What were they like? Maybe at the most 15 bucks for a double LP. Yeah, and then you the single like you get like I remember Nasit was written because it only had I don't know how many songs are on it, but they only made a single vinyl. And if you know anything about vinyl, uh if it's a double LP, that means it's wide. The the uh the whatever the what do they call it? The grooves are wider, so there's it's a better sound, right? The bass is nicer, then the the highs are higher, whatever it looks it sounds so much better. But when it's when they put on one single vinyl, it's tighter and it doesn't sound as good and it skips more once it gets you know worn in, but um it uh and it doesn't sound good at all. Like not, you know. So I remember Nas, it was written, was on the a single vinyl, and then they released it on double vinyl a little bit after. I had to go get the double vinyl because I wanted to DJ with it. Oh man, those fun times, man. Spending all my money on records.
SPEAKER_05I I thrift for my vinyl, you find a bunch of good stuff thrifting.
SPEAKER_06I would definitely do that. I've done that before too. Like used records and stuff. People don't appreciate it if you it's a good record. Some super cat records on vinyl. You find some gems, man, especially on 45. On 45 little records, I love a lot of the ragged records and stuff. You could find any of those spots, really in New York. D is there any decent record stores in DC?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, my friends. Uh my friends just um they have a store in uh Hyattville. They just opened like did their grand, yeah, did that grand opening.
SPEAKER_06Um I used to live in Hydesville.
SPEAKER_01Two days ago, actually, over the weekend. I'm gonna have to go. There is a there's some decent ones out here. I will say that, but I'm not a vinyl head, so my man uh also fresh, he's a big vinyl head, like he's got Dilla. Like you see that picture of Jay Dilla in his basement with all the vinyl. That's him.
SPEAKER_05That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01He is that type of person. He's like old school vinyl, everything. That's what's in his basement, like thousands of thousands of records of vinyl.
SPEAKER_06Damn. I don't have any of my vinyls all in some crates in my garage. They probably won't melted last summer.
SPEAKER_01I can't do it. I I got one addiction right behind me. I can't do another. I can't do it. I definitely would have done it if I could, but no, I can't do it.
SPEAKER_06Are you right?
SPEAKER_01It's um I don't want to do that shit.
SPEAKER_06Dude, lugging around records, especially back when you had to like bring records to parties. We used to get flight bags, technique, uh DJ flight bags, and we had record crates. My man had the hard crate, the the the metal, whatever crates, all that shit. We we my man had a um what was it? M um MP Mazda MPV, and he had the big ass speakers, all that shit. We used to DJ like all the parties up at Penn State and bug and all that shit. Now you could just bring an iPad and and a little little controller thingy, like this big, and DJ a whole fucking club with that. Or you could, I mean, I have a big I had the controller set up and all that shit. You know, the it it it plays more like vinyl, but it's getting more compact because these newer these kids DJing now. They could DJ off their phone, and if they know how to, you know, you just kind of know how to like do transitions and change the pitch a little bit, and you're good. But I like the turntable, man. Just doing it on there is is so much better. In my head, you know, just it just feels just feels better, you know what I mean? I understand. Yeah. Um, I wanted, I was, I was I Kari's not here, but you know what? Let's talk about Kanye. So is Kanye back? Did y'all listen to the album?
SPEAKER_01Nah, I didn't listen to the album, yeah. I haven't gotten a chance to it. I forgot. I'll put it in the location though.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I like the single that he got out. The I forgot the name of it. It goes light up or something like that. The father.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's the Travis Scott. Uh Preacher Man's good off that album, Father's good. Um, there's a bunch of different songs, but he's in that, he's in the um, he's in that that minute and a half, two minute and a half format, like the kids make their songs now. But he's just rapping and a bridge and maybe a part of a hook.
SPEAKER_01And it didn't a lot of it again didn't sound complete to me, but the they were good, like I feel like he's doing that um that alchemist stuff now with with the no drums. That's what a lot of people are going towards.
SPEAKER_06I don't listen to Alc. Well, I don't know. Pay more attention. I don't listen to much new hip-hop, like like unless it's popular. I'm really stuck in the 2000s and the 90s and the 80s, even. I can't listen to his new stuff. I don't like no Joey badass or no fucking J. Cole. I gave J. Cole's album a try though. It wasn't that bad. You don't like Joey Badass? I can't, I never got into him. I mean, if I heard him rapping and shit, I'd be like, oh, that's cool. Then it'll change the first album.
SPEAKER_01Was dope after that, like I was just like, uh some of it's cool, but you could have kept that.
SPEAKER_06But see, like grown up in yeah, grown up in New York, and even like DC had their their their time too. But you guys, you you you get this, and you in Philly, too. You was in Philly, so you we grew up in that era where like the major label rappers were spitting like Joey badass and all these, you know what I mean? Like, and now you know, I want to hear freeway, you know what I mean. Even if they're doing new music, it's not done, it doesn't feel the same, you know what I mean? Right, it don't make me want to like you know be like violent or some shit. That's that's I think about like I was not not violent, like I'm gonna punch somebody, but it's kind of like that though, you know, like you want to just go, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Let me ask this question. Y'all think Kanye ever left? Uh I didn't know.
SPEAKER_06I don't think he left. He was always trying to be there. I think he got pushed out.
SPEAKER_01I think he got pushed out during like the Sadidas thing, but as far as like music-wise, you think he ever left? Besides doing that dumbass shit with Lil Pump and all with that with that song.
SPEAKER_06I mean, some of the stuff on Vultures was questionable.
SPEAKER_01Do y'all do y'all think he left?
SPEAKER_06Because people still listen to his music. Some of the Donda stuff was questionable.
SPEAKER_05I would say that like his newer stuff. I I don't know. I I don't like it. So people still I don't know if he ever left, but I yeah, I mean, I he is an icon. I mean, culturally, I mean, he he kind of the way the way that he kind of changed and evolved rap into something different. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't think he ever left. I think just people dismissed him in the back, and then once they figure out, oh, this is cool again, like, oh, Kanye's back.
SPEAKER_05I don't I people have a short-term memory. I so I mean, I I was watching his stuff, like the stuff you were sending H, and then it was all popping up on my feed, and I was sitting there watching, I was like, yo, that stage is cool as shit, right? That one guy standing on top of the world, yeah. Whether he's standing on top of the world or not, I don't know, and then him freaking out at the freaking production crew for the wrong lighting. That was that was fucking wild.
SPEAKER_01But but yeah, that's just one thing that Kanye is never gonna disappoint. He's not gonna disappoint a production.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah. I've never seen him live, so me either. I met him, I met him in person at a club in DC. We were out there for uh you uh who was Bismarck E when he was still alive, he was DJing at he was there, Cuba Gooding Jr. was there, Kanye just walked in. It was crazy night. Shout out to my man. Um damn, oh man, how'd I forget his name? He used to run the regional universal records promo. Damn, sorry, uh I forgot your name, brother.
SPEAKER_05But you gotta pick up all this shit you're dropping, man. All these names and stuff. I don't know. I forgot to stop flexing all day.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no. My man, he no, he ain't nobody famous. He just he just is the record promo guy. He used to hook me up when I ran my website. He paid like three, four grand for us to just put banners of the new releases coming out from Universal. So we did promo for Drake on my website, all this shit. It was my homie.
SPEAKER_05Um, he seems like a real homie.
SPEAKER_06I can't remember his name. You guys are real type of spoken to Dude since 2010. Maybe I don't think I've spoken it since 2010 because he left Universal. Dude, that's what 16 years ago. We followed Jay Stewart. Jay Stewart. Shout out to Jay Stewart.
SPEAKER_05Shout out to Jay Stewart. There you go.
SPEAKER_06Yes, Jay Stewart. He lives in Maryland. He's uh he he married an Asian woman. I remember that. So shout out to Jay Stewart. That's my guy. Look at you, man. You name just popped up in my head as we were talking. So shit. I can't. I did not post a picture of my turntables on Instagram. That's crazy. I have a good picture on my phone. So is the album any good? Did you listen to it? It doesn't sound complete to me. I like I man Kanye's stuff, man.
SPEAKER_01He's put out so many amazing pieces of before we go to your point. Before you get to your point, Jay Stewart, dark skinned dude, kind of chubby, yeah. Collects a lot of uh collects a lot of uh hip hop stuff.
SPEAKER_06Yep, he's does he's um what's his name on Instagram now? He changed his name. He does this, he does a little radio show too. I know you know Jay?
SPEAKER_01I know, I know, yeah.
SPEAKER_06That's my man, Joe. Yeah, he's cool. Shit. Um, I know he's a sneaker head too, because I remember he used to he Air Force One dude, I think. No, maybe no Air Max, maybe I don't know. He used to always have like some fresh kicks on. He used to talk about sneakers to me all the time. I used to be looking at him like, I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, bro. I'm I wasn't into sneakers back then. Like, I'd be wearing something like I used to shop for my sneakers at like Marshall's and and uh DSW. That's how that's how how I was, and you know, you get something fresh, you get a Stan Smith, you know, or something over there. That's how I used to just rock all white Stan Smith or or whatever, like look kind of cool, you know. I remember I I had some dunks I got for honestly. If I had those dunks still, it probably worth something because they meant dunks used to hit Marshall's and stuff like that, and I used to just buy them because they matched like a flannel shirt I had or whatever. So yeah, it's it's it's all this is crazy, but um, yeah, Jay's my man, you know. Like he used to hook us up back right there. What about Kanye? Oh, yeah, yeah. The album, so and you know, as a as a lifelong fan, like you go from the first album, second album, third album, all the way up to like Life of Pablo, maybe. And then not I want to say he fell off. I just felt like when he got into the fashion stuff and started talking all crazy and doing more of that, and then he went into that gospel phase where he's trying to make like make Kim a virgin again and do all that shit. Remember, he was like not cursing, and he would yo, the funny thing about Kanye, he'd be talking about porn. He was like, Man, I'm trying to stay away from the porn. Remember those interviews he used to do, and then he started talking about titties or something like that. And I'm like, bro, you talking about porn.
SPEAKER_01He's been talking about porn since college dropout.
SPEAKER_06Uh yeah, I mean, the guy's addicted to sex, and I don't know what other drug he, I don't think he's like on drugs and shit, maybe uh, but um, he's addicted to the life. I mean, that's you're a celebrity, you do your thing, and he I think he embodies all of that, and it came out in his music. Um, when he lost his mom, obviously, his brain a little went a little wacky, but um the music, like I feel like he's been trying to chase something that he's not gonna catch. Just go back to what made you happy. And I see him when when he's prepping for these albums and he's preparing shit. I don't know if you ever watched him like this behind the scenes or like he was live streaming for a little bit and making beats and shit on the live stream. I was like, yo, that's on fire. And I listened to this album, I don't hear none of that shit on there. I'm like, where is it? You know, and I think he's just trying to catch up to the kids and be like them. You know, Drake fucked him up bad, like in the head. Like when Drake started making all the hits and kind of took over the top spot. He's just trying to be too much like yo, I gotta catch Drake. And Drake just and I think Drake's in that that that that era of his career now where he's trying to catch up to the young bucks because of what Kendrick did. You know, because like Drake's music it's cool, but it doesn't move me like you know, the shit that you know we was listening to when he was, you know, really popping poppin'.
SPEAKER_05It doesn't mean so that's a it's an interesting point though, because I'll talk to like the like our youngest, he's 18, and his music taste like that shit moves him. And I'm like, this is garbage, right? Like mumble rap. I don't even know it. So I just think it's generational, and our parents went through that, so I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I mean yeah, it's always generational.
SPEAKER_06Well, mute, yes, there are things in each era because we were out in the streets in those eras. So think about it like this. I mean, like I was out in the club, right? When my mid-20s, late 20s. That's when Jay-Z, you know, uh, that's when you had um Ludacris, all these rappers all you heard was at the club. So when I'm you know, you grinding on some girl's butt and they playing move bitch get out the way, that invokes a memory, a good positive memory for the most part. And and that thing just gets you like, oh damn, you listen to that song, it just brings back good times, right? I'm listening to this music now. If I'm listening to I don't know, well who the fuck's good right there, a yeet. I'm listening to Yeet while I'm fucking clicky clacking on a computer and putting in some spreadsheet, like that shit don't bring up a good memory to me. Like, oh shit, I was listening to Yeet. Yeah, it's got a good little beat and nodding my head to it, but it ain't gonna I ain't trying to remember that shit, it's just something that's in the back of it.
SPEAKER_05Cause you old.
SPEAKER_06Well, no, it's not about being old, it's about like like these kids are in college. We was in college, right? No, you and I we're the same age, so you're like you was in college, you was out out partying in DC. You got you weren't like when we listened to music, it was more of an escape rather than a distraction. Does that make sense? Like right now, music is a distraction to me. So to get my head out of the bullshit on the case.
SPEAKER_05Because you actually had a right, right? There was it, there was there was um feeling in the lyrics. There was it actually the music kind of resonated different, and I don't know. Yeah, I I'm a huge music buff, so I and I in college, like I remember camping out, they would do midnight releases, especially at Penn State. They would do the midnight releases. Yeah, that was an awesome experience, right? Like you were anticipating an album coming out. I camped out Blueprint big time, yeah. Penn State.
SPEAKER_06I went to that record store that uh you go underground. I forgot the name of it. What was it called?
SPEAKER_05I forget it too. I forget the name of it too. The only thing I remember underground was Rat Rathskeller, but um or the crowbar.
SPEAKER_04Oh, crowbar.
SPEAKER_06I DJ there, I DJed there a couple times. I DJ Crowbar a couple times. Um, you know, they got rid of Lions, Dan. I don't think line stands there. Was it called um and the main club? Was it called players when you were there?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06They changed the name to Indigo. I don't yeah, I don't they called it indigo last time I was up there. That was in 2017. Yeah, but it it's um we both went to Penn Stage now, by the way. That's why we're talking like that. I know. We have talked about this before. I know. Oh, we have. I yeah, it's but it's um yeah, music was more of an experience.
SPEAKER_05I feel like it it kind of goes in line with sneakers, right? There was more of an experience with with the whole sneaker culture. You would look through magazines, you would anticipate a release, you had a plan for it. It was different than now. So it there that nostalgic piece more of a vibe.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, now it's more of a vibe. If I'm feeling it, I'm feeling it. If I'm not, I'm not. That's what the kids are doing. I think everything is yeah, what are we about to say? I'm still with the experience, I'm still with the experience, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Like the vibes thing is true. They say that about politics too. Like, oh yeah, that's why so many people voted for Trunk. They're like, he gives me this vibe that this things are gonna change, and dancing. I'm just saying that like nobody everybody's not looking at it objectively, and that's I think that's why you know, when people think about, and maybe that's the way I think why I think about sneakers this way. I'm this like I don't get a look, retros. I get a feeling, you know, like I I got my my Jordans and all that other stuff that that kind of moved me um when I was younger. Now, when I look at new silhouettes and stuff, nothing kind of moves me unless it's something practical or something you know that makes um that's comfortable, right? I'll I want a daily driver that's gonna, you know, I get to throw on and walk outside. That's why I like the the mind oh two or or the um or oh one, whichever one it is, whatever the shoe one is, or I like Romero's or whatever, or comfortable, comfortable. Um, what what are those? The Evo SLs. Like those things are mad comfortable. I'll buy a pair of those things and wear them every day. And then when I put on my retros, that's when I'm like, oh, I got a good feeling because I that's brings back a memory. But I'm not like you know, like reselling and all that. Like a lot of these kids is like, oh yeah, they they go off with like stock numbers and this and that, and then it's it's fired in them. They don't even know what they're wearing half the time.
SPEAKER_05That's because it's resale, it's different.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but not these kids go out in crocs, yo, and they think that's the shit. Like they walk around in Crocs and feel like special, you know what I mean? Or or that they or some old ass fucking chucks or bands or some bullshit. Who cares? Let them wear what they want.
SPEAKER_05No, they can wear what they want, but there's nothing there's uh kind of a weird style at some point, like everyone goes through that awkward phase, right? That little phase. I look at I look at the like I'll go up to like when we go visit Travis up at SCAD, like he's at a fashion school, and no one is wearing any color, everyone is dressed in like black baggy clothes, yeah. And everybody's there's just no style. I'm like, this is crazy. You're all creative, and here so not outwardly, it's just I don't know. I guess we all go through it.
SPEAKER_06We all go through it. No, I'm just saying, even okay, so think about this. And this is more so maybe for your era, Drew, since you were a little bit older. Um, no, I'm not I'm just being real. Um, there was that grunge factor, right? The teenagers were grungy kids and all this type of stuff, but they wore they they they'd spend money on a nice pair of Doc Martins, right? Now, if they're a grungy kid, they just a dirty motherfucker who just pick and shoes out the trash can. They were a dirty pair of Air Force ones. Like, I'm dead serious. And the whole thrifting thing, like back in the day, thrifting used to be like, yo, I'm gonna find me a nice leather coat that that that's like uh you know, um, some fashion thing from back when now it's like, oh, where can I find the dirtiest thing with a big ass hole in it? And I'm gonna wear that shit like it's new. You see the shit, right? And you see the Instagram page of motherfuckers selling the shit with the holes all up in it. Like, what is that? And it's selling for like$300.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. I mean, a lot of these kids, I give them credit, they they do a lot of cool cut and sew stuff. So I don't know. I mean, I guess I'm a little close to it, so I I like it. I like that kind of stuff. I like somebody that's gonna repurpose clothing and turn it into something with their own kind of spin on it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, sustainability is great.
SPEAKER_05I didn't say sustainability, I just repurpose. No, I mean, look like Travis makes some some of the coolest pants, like he repurposes the he'll he'll take my old pants, man, and he'll freaking whip up this shit. I was like, damn, yo, dog, I want to buy these joints.
SPEAKER_06Dog, I used to rip the crotch in my pants, my mom sewed them up. I ripped the crotch in the pants, my mom sewed up brand new. That's what I'm talking about. It's the same thing, different era. It's but but that, but like I said, the kids look at it differently. They they're looking at it from the perspective of yo, I could make this into something new and different. But that's the kids who have like a brain for that. The average kid is not looking at it, they wear the fucking crocs with a baggy hoodie and sweatpants or whatever the fuck, or pajama pants. They don't even fucking want to, they don't even take the effort to put on some pants after they roll out of bed. They put it, they keep the same fucking pajama pants on and walk out the door with some crocs on. Don't even have to don't want to tie a shoelace, and they take the back off the croc so they don't have to fucking slip it in and and then put the thing up.
SPEAKER_05They'll take the they don't like it in sport mode. Yeah, they don't want sport mode. I mean that's creative in its own.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, no, dog. That's just laziness, bro. It's laziness. That's not really yo, everyone dresses lazy.
SPEAKER_05Like, seriously, everyone's in this athleisure phase where no one puts any effort into their clothing.
SPEAKER_06I guess uh what is it? Aloe and Lululemon and all that shit. I have a new Lululemon. Talk about that because kids are not wearing Lululemons and nice like goodness, they're they're they're going to the fucking like Target and buying some fucking champion sweatpants and or or taking to that closet. They ain't got no money for no Lululemon. Come on, yo, we have no money for that shit. Come on, none of us grew up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but we had good, we had good, we had good sweatpants back then. We had champion sweatpants and shit. That's the yeah, but that was a treat, though.
SPEAKER_06Man, when your mom's took you to models and you got a champion hoodie with the cone, like you was like, Man, like those are thick and you wear it in the I had to hook up.
SPEAKER_05I had to hook up. My buddy worked. Remember Alexander Julian? You remember that brand? No, you don't. It was like kind of it was like polo, and then Alexander Julian hit before and literally my buddy would take out the trash. He worked at the store, and he just clearly yeah. We we meet him around back at the dumpster. Yo, we were selling shirts and pants at the back of the car.
SPEAKER_07We did the book up, man.
SPEAKER_05That's that was the shit back then. You could get away with it back then, like inventory was the trash with the with the merchandise. Yo, we went through a lot of trash today. We got three bags full. That's right.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I ain't gonna cap. I think this brand went out of business because their full last collection was full 24.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I they haven't been relevant in a long time. American made, huh? This is the local jacket, though. I like this.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they I mean their polos. This one right here, the tweet joint. Yeah, I can't wear this material, it just feels funny on my skin, like wool and
SPEAKER_01Stuff like that, it's not made the whole thing, but yeah, with the collar down, but yeah, it looks nice. I find it now.
SPEAKER_06I mean, this looks like like you know, preppy-ish, yeah, preppy type thing.
SPEAKER_05Uh yeah, it was it was it was like Tommy Hill figure before Tommy.
SPEAKER_06I mean, it's a little better than Tommy, I think, from a design perspective. And and here he is about Alex. Yeah, I never heard of this brand though. Oh, the relaunch. When did they relaunch? 2024, I guess, and just never made another collection.
SPEAKER_05No one bought it. He tried to make it. It was like during that era of like United Colors of Benetton. Benetton's still around though. Oh man, I I still have some vintage Benetton stuff.
SPEAKER_06I have a couple of Benetton shirts. French Connection. You have a uh Gordon Gartrell Connection. Wow, yo, I remember French Connection triple five soul.
SPEAKER_05You remember triple five soul?
SPEAKER_06Triple five goose now. No, triple five soul was um that was a New York thing, right?
SPEAKER_05Uh I don't know if it was New York. I mean, you had Zoo York, but triple five soul. I forget where they were out of.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we had it down here. It was in Philly, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that was the oh, I remember Fat Joe had a jacket from there. They were um one of those streetwear brands that was uh hip hoppy. Hip hop, they're still around. It looks like they came out in 1989. Shit.
SPEAKER_05Man, I just got rid of my last pair of sweatpants from them.
SPEAKER_06I love their sweat, the best fucking sweatpants. Yep, here it is. Triple five soul. Yeah, I remember Fat Joe had they used to be leather bombers and shit. Averx made a bit of a comeback last couple of years. Yeah, triple five soul. Look at that. Yeah, um, I remember that logo. The final rocket. And we were talking a couple weeks ago. We were talking about um, what's his name? Um, what was Gino Green, the the the the sixes and the nines all over the shit. Used to love that. None of these guys heard of that shit. Was that shit popping in DT? This is around G Unit era like 2007, 2008.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that shit was yeah, because I was um during like that little stint that 36 mafia was had a little little bubble. I remember that. Yeah, gotta bring back the April jacket. Okay, I never bought none of that shit.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and yeah, I remember that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and that the leathers, the leathers were the thing, but yo, okay. When I went to college, you you you DC your whole life, right? No, you've been in DC your whole life. Well, was there a streetwear brand that they sold at flea markets called Solo? No, okay, because this kid, these kids used to that I knew from DC used to rock that shit up. It's gonna yeah, it's a brand out in DC that everybody wears. And the basically was saying it was like polo, like the the the font was a polo, but it says solo, and I'll be looking at this like polo basically. Never heard though, solo, like S O U L O.
SPEAKER_01S O U L A So, yeah, that would be dope, but it was S O like Polo, you know.
SPEAKER_06I never heard yeah, exactly. It was some bootleg shit. Yeah, okay. So that kid was lying. He's just popping in DC, and I'm like, this is like 1998-99.
SPEAKER_01So nah, we had like madness, uh sobbato, um, all days. Oh, I heard a lot of people will Hugo Boss back then. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Besides besides a lot of escaping, what was the street wear? Like what was um DC streetwear like back then?
SPEAKER_01It was powerful back then. Um you had to be wearing like 3x shirts and stuff. I could never fit anything from like madness or anything like that because some of that shit was like 2x or 1 or 3x, like madness had this famous bucket hat where they put like mad madness patches all over it. That was dope back then. This is like 96, 97, but all days, all that stuff. I never really wore any of that stuff. Um, most people wore it because of um the sweatpants and the track pants that they used to carry. It was cool, but that that wasn't my aesthetic when I was when I was growing up. I was poor, fuck it. Um now people like there's a there's like a small resurgence of uh damn, forgot the name of the brand. No, no, no, no, it's museum, that's what it is. It's a it's kind of like a it's kind of like uh a second nature of madness because they came under the same umbrella, grew up under those those same dudes. So you can find that at like local footlockers here.
SPEAKER_06Um they have it in DTLR.
SPEAKER_01You probably could find that at DTLR here. Um maybe up in Philly, maybe, but um Commander Stadium, like uh Verizon Center sometimes, because they done collabs with these people, so oh man, just I'm looking up old streetwear brands.
SPEAKER_06Um I had a question. Oh, I forgot. I forgot what I was gonna say.
SPEAKER_05All right, man. I'm I'm gonna dip soon. I gotta do that. Oh, yeah, we're gonna say yeah.
SPEAKER_06Eddie never showed up. Right. Oh, it's oh yeah, we've been going for two hours. I said I was trying to cut these these podcasts, a little sneaker one. We could go an hour and a half too, but it's a conversation that got to appreciate it. It was a good conversation, man. It's always gonna save it for the next one. Save save some for the next. Oh, John, we gotta have you on more, but you gotta step up your mic game, yo. I'm gonna send you a link to a good mic. We gotta get a good mic going. I got blue, it's just far.
unknownWhat the fuck?
SPEAKER_04Put it in front of your damn face, bro. Oh my god, you've never been there this whole time.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I was like, I was like, I didn't think he had a mic. Like, Eddie just be going on his phone, like whatever. Fucking I'm as I've been there.
SPEAKER_01This mic, I just keep it hidden.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god, it sounds like ten times better when you put it where it's supposed to be. Can we do this next time? Like, just do that so I don't have to do so much.
SPEAKER_01All right, I'll hold on to it next time.
SPEAKER_06I mean, it's not as it's not like we these, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's that's a decent like yeah, it's just too I don't like to hold on to it because I feel like it'd probably get fake feedback when on the record, but it's uh wear headphones.
SPEAKER_06You should wear headphones. If you got headphones, wear the headphones so you don't get feedback or get the I can't really tell when I wear headphones. Well, it's not it's just to hear us, so that that just yeah, you sound so much better when you have the money. You've had that this whole time, yeah. You're never gonna hear the end of it now. Is that right? I never said anything because I was just like, Oh, these guys just hop on here now and then. But I I don't I mean, like, I'd invite y'all back more if we hadn't, yeah. Come through whenever you want. I'll add you to the calendar and die permanently. I don't care.
unknownJust come through whatever.
SPEAKER_06But if you have a mic, uh yeah, if you got time, I mean we we we normally do it on Tuesdays, but hop not come through. That's that's crazy. You had a mic this whole fucking did you have this back in 2021? Oh my god. All right. All right. The mysterious mic edition.
