Chris Hibbert

Chris Hibbert has dedicated his life to supporting and inspiring young people. He progressed through the scouting movement and became a leader, aiming to broaden the horizons of young people by encouraging new experiences and leading exchange visits to Spain and Canada. He led his group on a charitable endeavour, raising £5,000 for an MS therapy centre by carrying a wheelchair-bound supporter up Ben Nevis.
Chris later supported Leos, a youth project of Lions, and helped develop a District Leo Club. He and his wife Sue founded Romanian Pride to ‘Give Children a Childhood’ in Romanian Centres of Placement since 2001.
Recently, Chris focused on food sustainability, creating the Lions Gleaning Hub and Lions Feeding the 5,000 projects, raising awareness of food surplus and waste. He enjoys sharing stories to inspire others and believes in the significant impact one can have on people.
"Never underestimate the impact you have on people – good or bad."

Pat Furlong

When her sons, Christopher and Patrick, were diagnosed with Duchenne in 1984, Pat Furlong refused to accept there was no hope. She dove into research, care, and advocacy. Though both sons passed as teenagers, she founded Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) in 1994 to honor them and fight for every family affected. Today, Pat is a leading global voice in Duchenne, still guiding PPMD and speaking worldwide. She serves on boards including the National Health Council, CTTI, and data safety monitoring groups. A nurse by training with a BS from Mt. St. Joseph and graduate studies at Ohio State, Pat also led hospital education programs while raising four children. Her strength and purpose remain rooted in love for her sons.
