Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, David attended Stony Brook University before moving to Miami, where he spent 19 years with the Aventura Police Department as a patrolman, undercover officer, and detective. His work earned him two Officer of the Month awards and recognition from the Dade County Chief’s Association.

In 2017, David began researching the life of Green Beret Captain Richard J. Flaherty, which led to the acclaimed documentary The Giant Killer and the bestselling book and audiobook of the same name.
