More Than Dance

When Dance Isn't Enough (And What To Instead) | Ep 5

Krissy Phillipino Episode 5

As we honor Mental Health Awareness Month, I thought it would be fitting to talk about the moments when dance is not enough and what you can do about it.

This episode dives into the difference between dancing for an audience and dancing for yourself and why that shift matters when you are healing or triggered.

I talk about what happens when wounds get reopened, you get triggered, and when things feel heavy and dance doesn’t feel like the outlet it usually is.

I share how dance can shift during harder seasons, and how you can learn to dance differently:

→ Dancing inward instead of outward
→ Letting go of performance and choosing expression
→ Honoring the 20% you do have, instead of forcing 100%

I also open up about my own knee journey and how, even though dance is healing, it wasn’t the thing that healed me. Sometimes what you need is a doctor, a therapist, a pause, or a nervous system reset.

This episode is a gentle reminder that dance is powerful, AND you’re allowed to take breaks. You’re allowed to modify. You’re allowed to move slow.
And you’re still a dancer even when you don’t want to move.
