Letting Go of Expectations Without Letting Go of Hope | Ep 11
Sometimes we think we don't have expectations... and then we find ourselves disappointed and don’t know why because the expectation was quiet, hidden, unspoken. It was still there all along despite our best efforts to not have expectations.
This episode is the realization that to control it all is impossible. and that our "Suffering exists because of unfulfilled expectations." - (A buddhist philopsophy)
This episode dives into expectations and how they get the best of you.
I help you manage your expectations and how to give yourself more control and live with less disappointment with these 5 techniques:
- Make every experience a "new experience" so there are no comparisons to previous experiences
- Be in control of your experience and what you CAN actually control
- Creating a standard to live by in situations when things start taking a turn into the unexpected. This puts the control back in your corner.
- Accepting the outcome when it "sucks" and hold a space for it and then move on.
- Be ready for surprises - (a complete release of control)
Expectations are your future control disguised as hope.
Once we learn to release these expectations we get better outcomes and are able to live in more happiness.
