Energy In = Energy Out | Why Your Marketing Isn’t Landing
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
If your marketing feels forced right now, your content isn’t landing, or everything feels a bit heavy… this is probably the part you need to focus on first.
Not better hooks.
Not more content.
Not posting more.
Your energy in.
In this episode, I’m talking about why your marketing is always a reflection of what’s going on underneath it, and why rest, nourishment, boundaries, and actually giving yourself space matters more than most people realise.
Because you can’t expect clear, magnetic marketing from a burnt out brain.
I also talk about one thing that has genuinely changed the game for me recently — my Lockd Pod. It’s helped me properly switch off, be more present, and stop constantly reaching for my phone every five seconds.

Hello, I wanted to chat today about content being magnetic, like how to make your content magnetic and attract the right people in. This often gets asked to me when I say when people say, Oh, I've got I've been creating the content, but it doesn't seem to be drawing the right people in. And one of the key things that I really want to draw on is your energy. I always talk about energy in, like marketing is energy, and I've created this thing called the marketing equation, which is essentially marketing equals energy, and then if you imagine you like a sum in brackets, energy in equals energy out equals who you attract. I'm not gonna like patent it or anything, but it just makes it make sense to people because basically when we are creating content, if we're from this place of I'm just doing it to take another thing off the list, like just getting it done, that isn't gonna resonate, and like that basically that energy that energy comes through when you are reading or consuming content. So when you are creating content, if it has some sort of energy and personality behind it or excitement, then that filters through into the content. So as a receiver, you can be like you can actually feel it. It sounds very surreal because you're like, Well, how can how can something like that translate into a like a written word? But honestly, the impact that you can create from good market um through good marketing is basically down to how your energy is line. So, what can this look like, and how can you basically improve the way that your energy comes through in your marketing? So, I'm just gonna uh go through this really quickly because I don't want it to be like a long one, it's just like a little bit of a booster. So, if you're thinking, right, I want my marketing to sit well, what do I do? Okay, so I would basically look at your relationship with rest. How rested are you? How recuperated are you? Because when we are rested, when we have given our space, um our body and brains time to breathe, ideas do come flooding in. I say this from experience because this weekend has been about holiday weekend, and I completely blocked my phone. I use I don't use a brick, but I use one called Locked, it's like a locked pod. Um, I've got a discount code which I'll put in the show notes if you want it and a link. Um but honestly, to say it's changed my life is is a lot of statement. So basically, I used to I used to cram in every single like spare space of my day little bits of work. So I might respond to emails, I respond to client messages, might try and even do some client work if they pick the kids out from school and think okay, 20 minutes I've sat down, or the kid can football in the garden, I'll just get my laptop out. You know, trying to feel these little pockets of time, it's so easy to do when you're in it, but when you are in it, you can't see what that is doing to you because you are not giving your space your body like space to breathe, you're not giving your brain space to breathe, and you need that space in order to be creative. So when we are in this like process of go, go go, let's create, let's create, let's create, we're in our masculine, we are not being as efficient as we think we are. We are just doing, doing, doing, but we're not actually creating anything because we've got no space to like recover, rest. Like, we're we're sort of running at about 20% battery. Um, if you're constantly in the space of I'm gonna keep going, going, going. Whereas when we are nourished and we are rested and we are we have this nice break, we recharge our battery, we come back to whatever we're creating with fresh ideas, we sort of get like an outsider's perspective. It's a bit like with meditation, really. Like when you have when you meditate, I'm not trying to be too weird or anything, but when you do meditate or you do pause for 10 minutes, you then just have like a slightly different perspective, or you have like a it's like things untangle a little bit, you're like, Oh, actually, that makes sense if I do it this way, or actually, that probably is something that I don't need to worry about right now, like it gives you that little bit of like perspective, like taking a step back. So, this is always something that I recommend to get my clients to do is to like actually make sure you're taking breaks, make sure you are resting, make sure you are making the most of your time by resting and having having gaps in your day. Because when we're constantly in go go go, how are we gonna be able to create ideas and think clearly if our brain doesn't switch off? So it's a bit like you know, when you come back up a holiday, you're like, Oh my god, I've had so many ideas that dropped in my head, or you've been had a shower and you're not thinking about work, but that's when sort of divine inspiration hits because we are not thinking, we are our brain is somewhere else doing something else, and then it sort of plops into our head because we are relaxed, we are open, we are in the receptive mode of ideas. So that's like the main thing. Um, I then want to look at basically what we're consuming, what we're feeding ourselves. So, whether that's food, whether it's hydration, the basic stuff of like not trying to be like, oh, you gotta eat only salads and like lean proteins. Not not at all. What I'm just saying is like if you are uh fueling yourself with like lots of salty snacks and like um uh of like processed carbs and things, like that isn't gonna be efficient for your body to process. So again, you're gonna naturally feel a bit sluggish and you're gonna feel a bit tired, so you're not gonna have this like burst of energy or create, you're gonna have little easy crashes. You might if you drink lots of coffee, for example, you might feel like you're you're crashing at certain points of the day, so when you could be creating something, so just be really mindful of like how are we treating ourselves? Because if we are wanting to become our next version of ourselves, how is somebody who is earning six figures, earning seven figures, like creating their business like of their dreams? How are they fueling themselves? Are they are they constantly like reaching for snacks or are they eating like balanced meals? Like obviously, we'll have like a bit of a bit of a balance where they'll have like have treats and stuff, but it will feel really like really good when they do do it, like it's not like a constant thing. Like, I know I go through phases like this where I'm like, oh, I shall just eat like a whole pack of biscuits, and then I feel really shit about it, and then I'm like, oh and then I'm like, okay, well fun, I'll just have like pizza for dinner, you know. It like once we get to that cycle, it's really hard, like it's hard to break out of it. So to be really mindful of like what are we doing to like set ourselves up for success, and that doesn't just mean for like things that we're consuming in terms of food and drink, but also like what are we consuming in terms of like media? Like, are we following people that sort of dysregulate us? Are we are we around people that aren't necessarily like boosting us? Like, all of these little things can be so pivotal in how we run and operate on a daily basis. So make sure we're like leaning into like nourishing ourselves from within, and that involves like people with like the people we spend our time with, like what are we consuming, what are we reading? If you're like watching therrilla like murder documentaries before bed and then you can't sleep, like is that maybe the best thing to spend your time, or maybe should you be reading, or if you're scrolling on your phone for like an hour, it might send you to sleep, but it could be the reason why you're waking up like throughout the night. Like, just let's just have like a little bit of like an audit, let's not put any shame on it. Let's just be like, okay, where can we level up all areas? And because we know that this is gonna have a direct output on our marketing, so that's like energy in, there's loads we can go into it, but this is also like the basic bit. So if you'll feel like everything feels a bit flat, let's do a look, let's do like a little recalibration of like okay, how can we change what's coming into my body, what's coming into my mind to make sure that then we're feeling rejuvenated, refreshed, and we're able to create content that is gonna resonate. So I'll do a part two. This is like the first part of it about the energy in, but once you start to do this, after a few days, things will start to shift and you'll be like, okay, I've got like I've had these little ideas that pop into my head, or I'm feeling a bit fresher because I've had that space between uh work and rest. I'm actually feeling like I've got all these different like bits of information in my head. So yeah, have a think about it, and let's listen to part two when I create this in a couple of days. I might even record this um later on today and I'll upload them both together. Anyway, any questions? And if you want um any questions, let me know. And if you want to get your own locked pod, then I'll drop the link below. I don't get anything from it, it's just I have a discount code to share. Um and I feel like everybody needs it in their life. Anyway, have a lunch day. Goodbye.
