Good morning. It's Leo and welcome back. And, you know, the best topic for Thanksgiving, Christmas, dinner, birthday dinners, you know, just short of politics is probably religion. How can we burn it to the ground? How can we burn this conversation to the ground is say something controversial about religion. I'm not going to get into my religious beliefs, but I think we're probably pretty much all familiar with the seven deadly sins. We've heard that some of us that are a little older remember the movie Seven with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, where some serial killer is killing people according to the different types of sins. So I'm going to go through those and I'm going to go through, I want us to all examine our personal lives and see which of these we're actually doing. Because no matter your religious belief, engaging in these sins is probably not good for your life. I don't care if you're a total atheist, agnostic, doesn't matter. These are just general moral guidelines of things you probably shouldn't be doing. The first one being pride. Just loving yourself too much, being completely prideful. Are you doing that in your personal life? Are you taking no accountability for anything? Might need to shift that if you want to have a good and happy life. Greed, just chasing money, chasing material things, everything being about stuff, getting more stuff. Lust. Do you have an Instagram account and it's your Instagram Explore page is filled with half-naked women because that's what you always pause on. That's what you're looking at. You're watching porn all the time. You're lusting after coworkers, friends, wives, friends, husbands, whatever your situation may be. You're just oversexualizing everything and taking it to the extremes. Envy. Are you envious of everybody around you? Is nothing fair? Are you always comparing yourself to your friends, to your friends that are married, to your friends that are unmarried? Are you in a constant state of envy of others? Gluttony covers food and drink. Are you personally overdoing it a little bit? Are you eating like crap? Are you drinking too much? I mean, I would include like pills. If you're abusing pill cocktails, I would probably lump that in with modern day gluttony. Wrath. Are you coming home angry from work? Are you holding on to stuff and taking it out on those around you that deserve it the least? Are you, do you have an internal issue that's coming out as an explosion and sloth? Are you just reveling in comfort? You know, when you get home, is it take a bath, drink wine, get in a pile of pillows, get on a screen? Just, I mean, I can't speak for women, but for men, that's not what being a man is about. So yeah, we have a tough job and we need to relax, but that doesn't justify sloth at all times. We still got to do hard stuff. So let's translate it to the job. And most of these things are things that will directly destroy a career. I've seen all these things destroy it, and I'm going to give a quick rundown of what each is. Pride translates to ego. I mean, there's a book called Ego is the enemy. You've heard me say a million times, your ego will get you fired and indicted. It will keep you from being a lifelong learner. If you have a big ego, you got nothing left to learn. If you're a three-year cop, which is it's a long time, you've seen a lot, but it's also nothing compared to a 25-year cop, and you think you already know everything, you simply don't. So check your pride, check your ego, same thing. Ego, if you get in a foot chase and you you punch the wrong guy, you pit the wrong car, you do something stupid, you make a mistake, pride or ego will keep you from fixing that. It will keep you from making the right choice. Greed, I mean, it's money. It's a greedy person might steal money if they see it on a search warrant. A greedy person might work way too much overtime to the point that you're just you don't have a life anymore. And you got to make some choices about when it's overdone. Sometimes you have to, but sometimes you don't. And I'm not saying a little bit of overtime hurt anybody, but if it becomes all you're about, I hope you reevaluate because it can really hurt you at your job. Sex, I mean, that's lust, obviously, but people do it. If you're a cop, you've seen it. People messing with coworkers or a married coworker and uh, you know, crossing all these boundaries, or they're married and they're messing with somebody single on the shift, sex with informants, sex with witnesses, sex with victims of a domestic, all these things going back later and checking on her, and it turns into something. I mean, it's lust, it's sex, it's whatever. It's getting in the way of your job and causing costing you your career for a stupid, sinful moment. Envy, I mean, you if you've been a cop for a while, you've seen people compare themselves to other people, compare their salary, compare when somebody else got ahead, somebody else got a position, somebody else got canine, somebody got narcotics or SWAT, and you didn't. And you've heard people just hating on that person. It happens, and it doesn't have to be you. You can be happy for.
