High-Achieving Women Often Get Stuck in Strongholds That Keep Them from Reaching Their Full Potential

In episode 6. I got super vulnerable and shared my own story of success despite all who told me I couldn’t and wouldn’t. I said watch me! And I did.

With that comes the inner whispers of did you really? Do you deserve this? 

So, how is this even a thing for strong women who have risen to success despite their challenges? 

Part of it is how society views women in the first place and it has been that way for many years. That definitely plays a role on some level. 

One of the best ways to change that is to show up authentically together.

So let’s focus on the strongholds that keep us tied down and keep us from emerging from the depths of self-doubt, comparison, and perfectionism.

Give this some thought. What exactly are you tied to?What is it for you? When you are negatively yoked to something in this world, you are not free.

You might recall that in biblical times animals would work together. They did this by harnessing the animals together so they couldn’t break free. 

This is how I envision the strongholds that I used to be tied to and the very ones you are tied to right now.

Now, this is not uncommon for us when we have come from difficulties and challenges early in our lives. That is all we knew for so long. 

It is hard to break free from those thoughts and beliefs. These beliefs turn into limiting beliefs and we perfect them over time, which gives them power. 

However, it doesn’t have to stay that way. 

Strategies to Help High-Achieving Women to Take Action and Shift Limiting Beliefs 

I created a worksheet that helps move the needle in this area. I use this when I coach women. 

It helps you do three things that are necessary for change. It creates awareness around your beliefs, helps you challenge the beliefs, and to take action in the process of changing those beliefs.

  1. Create awareness by identifying your limiting beliefs. 

Here are some questions to guide you in this process. 

What are the recurring negative thoughts you have about your abilities and worth? 

How do these thoughts make you feel in your personal and professional life? 

List specific situations where these beliefs have held you

back.

How have these beliefs impacted your decisions and

actions?

  1. Challenge your beliefs.

What evidence do you have that contradicts these beliefs?

Who are the people in your life who see your true potential,

and what have they said about your strengths?

Identifying and building strengths is another part of my program. It is essential for your growth. We all have innate, God-given strengths that we are born with. And you can use them to grow to unimaginable heights. 

Reframing is a strategy for changing beliefs. Consider these 

questions. 

How can you reframe these negative beliefs into positive

affirmations?

Write down a new empowering belief to replace each limiting

one.

I’m going to leave you with this. 

Leaving limiting beliefs behind is a choice. We all have choices even when it feels like we don't. That is usually because the choices aren’t that great. 

The choice is often easy, but carrying out the change is hard, especially when it’s been like this for so long. That is why I help women and partner with them along the way in my programs.

Right now being tied to these things is not serving you. This is not what God wants for you. You have worked hard and deserve to be free from these strong holds. So, what is holding you back?
