Welcome to the The Positive Growth Doctor Podcast®! I am your host, Dr. Christina Wilson.
When we are going through things in life, fear is often at the center of it. We fear the unknown. We fear things we can’t control.
As a result, we worry because it gives us some semblance of control. It gives us momentary relief, but it ultimately feeds our anxiety and creates negative thought loops that hold us hostage.
In this episode,I explore steps you can take when you encounter difficulty on your journey so that you can grow through it and come out stronger on the other side.

The Power of Change for Women Who Are Struggling.
There is one thing in this life that you can rely on, and that is change. It’s inevitable and necessary in life. You can’t get around it.
God created the seasons as if he was preparing us for the change we would encounter. Some change is good, and some is bad, but he reminded us that he makes everything beautiful in its own time.
It is when change occurs that we can grow. It’s easy to let fear get in the way of embracing change or to get saddled by the ugliness that sometimes comes with change.
That is where mindset comes in. It is a game changer. You might find yourself experiencing self-doubt when encountering change or comparing yourself to others and believing that you can’t make it through the change.
One of my favorite quotes from Henry Ford is, “Where you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.
When I encounter challenges, I rely on two main things to get through. One is my faith, which has been shaken at various times in my life but never crumbled.
The other is mindset. When I see challenges coming or experience them unexpectedly, I acknowledge it and remind myself that I am one step closer to getting through this. I’m further than I was yesterday.
I have a choice. I can back down and hide from it. Or I can face it head on no matter how scary or uncomfortable it is. Because I know with each moment that passes, I am one step closer to getting through it.
I wasn’t born like this. I had to grow my mindset by learning the hard way of dealing with the discomfort of being fixated on what wasn’t working and being engaged in the ongoing negative thought loop.
That is miserable. I realized that I did have control, and that I could make it through.
I won’t bore or even shock you with my past experiences that I made it through but know that no one makes it out unscathed.
Some people appear to have it all together. We compare ourselves and think they couldn’t possibly understand. Or that would never happen to them.
The truth is that you don’t know what they’ve been through or what they are going through. Comparison isn’t helpful.
Life is hard, but we do have choices. And those choices matter. I decided to stop making it so hard on myself and adding to the difficulty. And what a relief that was.
4 Tips for How Women Can Conquer Self-Doubt in the Midst of Change
Change isn’t easy for anyone, but it can get easier to navigate. Here are 4 practical strategies to shift with ease and grace.
- Embrace change by adopting a growth mindset - This is all about perception. It can be achieved when you view challenges as growth opportunities instead of ruminating over the challenge itself. You will need to clearly define your direction and what you ARE going to achieve. Focus on that to stay motivated.
- Overcome self-doubt by acknowledging your achievements that reflect your strengths, challenge any negative thoughts that come to mind replacing them with positive affirmations and evidence of your achievements, and seek support from the positive people you have included in your circle.
- Avoid comparison by focusing on your UNIQUE journey based on the progress and clear goals you have set for yourself. Limit your social media scrolling and practice gratitude while focusing on what you have.
- Build resilience by developing coping strategies and managing stress. Learn from setbacks to improve in the future, and surround yourself with positivity.
All of these things come from the signature framework I developed for my Positive Growth Doctor coaching programs. You can check that out at www.thepositivegrowthdoctor.com.
I hope this helps! Let's meet up again next week for another episode. Be inspired!
