Welcome to the The Positive Growth Doctor Podcast®! I am your host, Dr. Christina Wilson.
How you start your day matters. Now, there are times that your day goes South. It happens, but you are likely to get back on track when you start it off right.
Every day is a gift. I love to start the day praying with my son. Much of that prayer involves gratitude.
Research suggests that gratitude has many positive effects from sleep and stress reduction to shifting chemicals in the brain to promote a healthier well-being and improve mindset.
We also set our intention. Every day is different given the ups and downs in life. Setting intention isn’t just for preparing for a task. It is a gift you can give yourself at the start of a day.
This is important because of its relation to your mindset. It is key to getting you off on the right foot regardless if your day feels heavy or if you are feeling your best.
It can help you shift away from the heaviness in the midst of difficulties, or it can also make the good days even brighter.
In this episode, you can expect to explore the transformative power of setting faith-centered intentions.
We'll discuss practical steps to align daily actions with God's purpose, leading to a mindset shift that glorifies God and enriches life.

Setting Intentions as a Faith-Centered Woman: Discover the Benefits
More and more people are using the tool of setting intention for the purpose of mindset.
One sets their intention using what they value most to guide your thoughts, actions, and mindset.
For me, God is at the center of all that I do. That is because I desire a deep relationship with him and strive to bring glory to him.
So when I set an intention, I have him in mind. He also has me in mind too as he guides me. It’s a great way to align with him.
When I start a task or my day, I pray first. Whether it is developing a program or writing a podcast episode. I seek his guidance.
When I set an intention, I do the same. Intention is not just setting a goal or determining how we want to feel at the end of a task. It involves God’s wisdom at the heart of the intention.
How to Set God-Centered Intentions for a Mindset Shift
Over the course of my life, I have found that the closer I am to God in relationship, the better I can hear and experience his guidance.
A great example of that was when I had sepsis and was in the hospital a few years ago. I was vomiting blood and had blood coming through the tubes from my stomach.
I could see the fear in my doctors and nurses eyes. I wondered if I would make it home to my family.
But then, this stillness came over me. It was as if he whispered in my ear, “You will not only go home, but I have plans for you. You will work with women.”
I have learned that when God says go, I go! I move! I was thrilled because I have always loved helping other women.
Oftentimes we don’t hear his actual voice. I usually get a nudge in the pit of my stomach as if it is an alert to pay attention.
Other times, he sends messages with a shift in circumstance or by others he has placed in our path.
Ultimately, setting an intention is value driven with his wisdom guiding you so you can get an optimal outcome as part of his greater plan. It’s about aligning with him and your values.
I’ve mentioned this before, but we are all so distracted. It is super easy to get off track. Another benefit of intention is staying focused. So, I am going to lay it all out for you, and I created a guide for you too.
You might wonder what intention to set. Seeking his guidance is important. So, spending time in prayer asking, “God what do you want for me today given all I need to accomplish?”
Here are some things to remember when setting an intention:
- Reflect on your time in prayer.
- Consider what an ideal outcome might be or what it looks like at the end of the day or task.
- Make a note of the word or phrase you come up with. You may add a sticky note to your notebook or mirror. Revisit it from time to time.
- Stay present and focused on the positive, let go of negativity that creeps up, and trust God in the process. He is with you! He never leaves you because nothing is too difficult for him.
I included my Intention Setting Guide in the transcript and on social media.
I hope this helps! I am thankful for our time together every week and know that you are loved!
Let's meet up again next week for another episode. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!
