Welcome to the Positive Growth Doctor Podcast for Women. I am your host, Dr. Christina Wilson. I created Positive Growth Doctor after years of dealing with societal expectations, self-doubt, and perfectionism. I leverage my 30 years of experience as a positive psychologist to address limiting beliefs and gain clarity through faith-based emotional wellness techniques rooted in mindset renewal and biblical truth. Subscribe to the podcast and check out the earlier episodes so you don't miss a thing. Let's get to it. So today we are officially kicking off a brand new series. Taking Root, Trading the Striving for God's sovereign rest. And for the woman who is tired of feeling like her fate is this ongoing performance review, right? Taking root is a four-episode rescue mission for your mind and your spirit and your schedule. In a culture that demands constant overfunctioning and flawless curation, it is remarkably easy for Christian women to mistake the exhausting grind of societal perfectionism for the actual calling of God. We look at our lives through the lens of social media and compare our real-world messes to everyone else's digital highlight reels and quietly assume our struggles are a sign of spiritual failure. But God never called you to a scorecard, He called you to a covenant. So this powerful four-episode series is designed to help you expose the subtle spiritual warfare behind your self-doubt, and silence the demanding voice of the inner perfectionism and firmly plant your identity in unshakable truth of who you are in Christ. Guided by the deep biblical wisdom, practical mindset tools, and weekly active challenges, you will learn how to accurately discern the gentle conviction of the Holy Spirit from the heavy, crushing condemnation of the enemy. So it's time to drop the heavy act of having it all together. So you can kick that to the curve, right? Step out of the isolation of comparison and discover the holy confidence required to walk boldly and to accustom the purpose that God designed you specifically for. Because we're all different, right? He has something for each and every one of us, and it's not the same. So in this episode, we are tearing down the invisible scoreboards that we've set up between that actually come between us and God. So if you've ever felt like your bad day at work or your messy house means that you're failing spiritually, this is your permission slip to breed. We explore how to identify those lies of the enemy and masquerade as our own thoughts. And I'll give you some practical framework to take those thoughts captive. Okay, before they spiral into self-condemnation. So you can find the full transcript for this episode on your favorite podcast app or on the Positive Girth Doctor YouTube channel. In this series, if it has blessed you, please share it with other women to help them grow on their journey. And don't just stop there with your friends and your family. Extend your reach to those you've never even met just by leaving a quick review on Apple Podcast. I appreciate you. All right, so identifying the spiritual warfare that happens in your own thoughts every day is really important. Our society challenges us in two very specific ways. And one is the pressure to have it all, right? To treat your daily performance as a spiritual report card. And the second is a badge of honor given to busyness, where you know we're told that we ultimately our ultimate value equals our visibility. So when we look at those two cultural demands, you see a very distinct clash between how God created us, um, how he created us to live, and what society expects from us. Two very, very different things. And sometimes the enemy's deception is so subtle that we don't even realize that we're drifting in the wrong direction. And he's really, really good at deceiving us. And that is why I rely on the simple test. And I've mentioned this before, but I pause and I'll ask myself, does this thought or action bring me closer to God? And if the answer is no, then it's not for me. And I intentionally move on from it, move away from it. Now, the enemy loves to utilize spiritual warfare, you know, by taking your very real human exhaustion and distorting it into a lie. You know, your struggles mean that you've lost favor with God. You know, he weaponizes your own mind so that you are isolated from God. So, why your faith is not a performance report card, and what to do next? Well, the biblical foundation, um, the biblical truth for this episode comes from actually two powerful scriptures. One is in Romans um 12:2. Do not conform to the pattern of this world. That's a good one, right? Um, he knew what we were gonna need, right? Um, especially in the times that we're living in right now, it's just getting worse and worse. So don't conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And then in 2 Corinthians 10, 5, take every thought captive. That is one of my favorites. I have to go back to that often because the enemy is so tricky in how he kind of wiggles his way in there and tries to distract us. Take every thought captive. See, here's the truth: God does not grade you on a curb. Your relationship with him is built on an eternal covenant, not a temporary scorecard, right? Exhaustion is a physical reality, not a scripture or spiritual failure. Yet we constantly let these arbitrary performance scorecards right there. We let the enemy in, which happens and it is easy to do. But that scorecard that he creates, it comes between us and God, and it's a big problem. So let's think of some practical steps to renew your mind according to Romans 12. Okay. So showing yourself grace is so important. You know, we never we've we're never promised this perfect, problem-free life, unfortunately. You know, there's gonna be difficult, heavy seasons, and just as there's going to be periods of beautiful calm. But regardless of the season that you're currently navigating, you need your need for Jesus remains the same. Okay, you need him always, regardless of the season you're in, and this is exactly why I am so thrilled to make a special announcement today. I have created the Divine Resets Retreat that will take place October 23rd through October 25th. So it's a three-day retreat for Christian women in Noblesville, Indiana. And I'm just thrilled to share this because I I've been working on this and you know, listening to God and what He wants you to know and um building this. And I I it's gonna be great fun. It's gonna be a great time of just really growing closer to him. So you all shared your deep need to break the exhausting cycle of perfectionism. You know the one I'm talking about. And as a result, it created this retreat specifically for us to come together and break that cycle as a community and grow deeper in our walk with the Lord. So check out the social media channels or the website for the link to secure your ticket today. And also, my website is in transition right now. I don't know if my new site will be up, but the current site will have it on there as well. Now, in the meantime, here are two reflection questions that will help you to consider where your thought processes might be getting you into trouble. Okay. So here's a couple of questions to ask yourself this week and kind of let it marinate a bit and you know, try to learn more about that. So the first is what is the very first thought you have when you make a mistake? What's the first thing that pops into your mind? And does that inner voice sound more like a loving father, or does it sound like a harsh accuser? Now, the second is in what areas of your life are you treating God like an employer rather than a savior? Hmm. Yeah, that's a that's a big one, isn't it? I hope that this episode has challenged and encouraged you in so many ways. So let's meet up again for next week's Taking Root series for the second episode. See you then and have a very blessed week. Thanks for listening to the Post of Growth Doctor podcast. Be sure to leave a review and tell other women about the podcast. Let's support each other.
