SPEAKER_01Welcome to the Passitive Girth Doctor Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Christina Wilson. We are in the middle of a series right now, taking root, training the striving for God's sovereign rest. And we've been exploring what it's like when we feel like our faith is a performance reveal. So how have you been feeling just a bit wringed down lately or really tired? If you are, then you might be caught up in the exhaustion loop, you know, of overfunctioning and striving to earn acceptance from everyone else, from your peers, your family, um, your church. And if you're running on empty from trying to keep up the appearance that you have it all together, then pull up a chair. So in this episode, we tackle the root of perfectionism and we unpack the critical difference between the gentle conviction of the Holy Spirit, which brings life, and the heavy accusing condemnation of the enemy, which brings death. So you'll learn how to drop the heavy yoke of performance and rest entirely in your God-given word. So you can find the full transcript for this episode on your favorite podcast app or on our YouTube channel for the Positive Girl Doctor. And if this series has blessed you, please share it with other women to help them on their journey as well. And you can extend your reach by leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts. I appreciate you. All right, so let's go ahead and break down the conviction versus condemnation and discerning God's voice. Now, of course, there's entire books out there on discernment, right? So I'm gonna break this down for you real quick. Um, the enemy is incredibly sneaky. You know, he's a master of swaying our emotions and throwing us off course, you know, through spiritual warfare. One of my favorite tactic, one of his favorite tactics is mimicking the voice of God by whispering, you are not enough. And he tricks us into confusing the heavy condemnation of the enemy with the life-giving conviction of the Holy Spirit. And we've seen this pattern time and time again throughout the biblical history. So please know that you are not alone in this. You know, it's it happens to all of us, and it's easy to beat ourselves up for falling for it, but that's not what God wants for us. In fact, um, here's the truth of what God wants for you to anchor your heart into this week, and that is Matthew 11, 28 through 30. Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Then also Romans 8:1, which is there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus? That is definitely a mirror-worthy one right there. And you know, I often say put it on your bathroom mirror so you'll, you know, visit it throughout the day and be reminded of it. So, how does spiritual perfectionism drive us to such burnout? Understanding the distinction between how God corrects us and how the enemy attacks us changes everything. So, conviction draws us closer to the father and it creates this healthier self-awareness that is necessary for real transformation. And God is a good, good father, and just like any loving parent, you know, he guides us because he loves us. Now, condemnation drives you away in shame, away from the father in shame, and it tells you to hide. And at its core, spiritual perfectionism is a form of pride, and it claims Jesus' sacrifice wasn't completely enough. So I must finish the job on my own, you know, with my own performance. That's what perfectionism is. So, how do you experience the easy yoke of Jesus? Well, to help you cultivate this awareness needed for true change, um take some time to sit at the feet of the father in prayer this week and reflect on two questions that I have for you. One is when you feel the weight of not doing enough, does that weight draw you to prayer or does it make you want to isolate yourself and work harder? And the second one is what are you terrified will happen if you show up messy and imperfect before your community? Now, this week's challenge is called the drop the act challenge. So the challenge this week is to intentionally share one area where you're struggling in, you know, uncertain about or just feeling imperfect. Share that with a trusted friend, maybe a small group member or another Christian sister, and step out of isolation and watch shame completely lose its power. Sometimes it takes us just saying it because, you know, it just changes, it moves the needle. All right. So also you could join the sisterhood this fall. If you want a deeper dive into his into this work that I've been doing and the things that I've been talking about, I want to personally invite you to grow with our sisterhood at the Divine Reset Retreats in Noblesville, Indiana from October 23rd through the 25th, 2026. So together we're going to dive into his word and actively work through perfectionism and self-doubt and comparison.
