Hey everybody, it's Bernie Gallorani bringing another episode of Success is Not Convenient. Thank you so much for uh paying attention to this message today. It's a really good one, one that I'm feeling very passionate about. I've heard a lot of different uh angles on this topic. So here it is. Focus equals reality. Your focus equals your reality. So when you look at your life today and you look at your business today, what I'm gonna ask you guys all to do is what your focus in is actually what is there, right? It's what shows up. And so we're gonna talk about some things here about how we can maybe make some improvements in the way we focus. So our outcome or what we see in six months, year, two years from now in our business actually shows up as what our reality or our vision is, it ends up being our reality. See your focus on your life and in your business and how you look at everything is what you end up more of. So you have more of what you focus on. Your business is not just a result of the market. Your business is not a result of the economy, and your business is not a result of the competition. That interesting. Like we want to blame lots of different things and say, well, this is why our business is the way it is. So your business is just a result of what you focus on each and every single day. It's nothing more than that. We can be really confused that we believe that if we focus in on our business, but things go south, that it's not our fault. And it is because if we have focus on only the end result and we navigate it regardless of what happens around us, then your your business ends up where it needs to be. See, what you focus on, you move towards all the time. And what you move towards, you build. And then what you actually build becomes your then-now true reality. It's none of it's real. Like, and that's the fun part is we we get to make up our life and we get to decide how we want that to be. And if we continue to become one person that thinks of things as always negative of a burden, we're gonna end up with a burden of a business. We're gonna end up not being a happy person running a business. The question is not how is business? The question is, what are you focused on? Your brain only sees what you look for. That's all it does. Your brain only sees what you look for. There is psychological truth that affects every business owner. Your brain filters the world. And if you focus on all the problems, then all you do is see problems. If you focus on the competition, then what you see is competition. If you have like a lack of leads, let's just say, or lack of opportunities coming in, then all you see is the lack of opportunity. If you have nothing but fear going on inside yourself, then all you see is fear everywhere. You see risk and you feel feel uncertain, right? If you see opportunity, if you happen to vision opportunity, then you see opportunity. If you see in your mind growth, then you see growth in your business. If you try to figure out a solution to everything, then all you have is solutions to your problems. And this is why two people can be in the same exact market. Same market, same business, apples for apples, people, space, economy, everything. And one is growing and the other one is shrinking. One is really excited about the business and the other one is absolutely scared. One sees opportunity while the other sees doom and gloom. Same world, different focus, and a totally different reality. A totally different reality. Two people in the same business, two companies, two owners, same business, same people, same economy. One thrives, one's in doom and gloom. It's the exact same business, just two outcomes. How is that? Your focus is not just what you think about, your focus is the direction that you take your business. Business owners drift towards their focus. So if we're doing talking about anything today, it's really about what you're focusing on. If you're focusing on bad stuff, bad stuff's gonna happen. You're focusing on positive things, positive things are gonna happen. If a business owner focuses on drama, then they build a dramatic company. If the business owner focuses on problems, then they build nothing but problems inside their organization. Everything's doom and gloom for them. If they're focusing on employees doing wrong things, that's easy to do. Focusing on what your employees aren't doing, then what they build is a really negative culture. I can't even tell you how many times I've had the realization that maybe I'm not looking at this the right way with my employees or even with my business in general, right? If we focus on money, they build a money machine. If we focus on growth, then we build nothing but a growth company. If we focus on our clients, then we build a client-first relationship with our with our clients, with our people. If we build an if we focus on systems, then we build a scalable company. See where focus goes, business grows. Write that one down. Where focus goes, business will grow. And that is very interesting. Or if you focus on negativity, that's where you end up. You focus on positivity, that's where you end up. Here's what I love about this message today it's not the business that's the problem. It's you, the operator. And you're like, well, it's not my fault, it's the people that run my company. Well, then you hired those and you're still responsible. Most business owners don't fail because they're stupid, and most don't fail because they're lazy. Their focus is absolutely scattered, and what they focus on is their emails, their small problems, their complaining about employees and minor issues, things that don't grow revenue, things that don't grow people, and things that don't grow the company. And then they wonder why their business is not growing. It's so easy. We live in a world with nothing but negativity. Man, if you're into politics and you're listening to that crazy stuff and you believe any of that stuff, by the way, get out. Stop. Pay attention to your business. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing, just worry about what you're doing. Because focus equals reality. Focus determines your emotional state. And this is huge for business owners. If you focus on everything that's wrong, you feel overwhelmed. If you focus on employees messing up, you're gonna feel absolutely frustrated. Focus on market, the market's slowing, you feel absolutely scared to make any moves. You like feel paralyzed because you're like, well, what do I do next? If you focus on your competition, then you feel insecure. I love competition. The the people in my industry that are doing better than I am, I love that because I keep telling myself, well, why are they doing it? What am I doing incorrectly? Right? If you focus in on all the bills that come in, boy, that's an easy one, especially during up and down parts of the season, um, then you feel all this pressure. But if you focus on all the opportunities that you have, the uh recruiting opportunities, the marketing opportunities, all of the training, all of the systems, all the vision, all the growth that the company can have, you are becoming a person that is in control of the business and you feel in control and you feel driven and you feel focused and you feel absolutely empowered. So I would say if if you're one that's sitting there today listening to this and you're not feeling these things, maybe you should just check on seeing what you're focusing on. Is your focusing out of line? Are you out of alignment with really the purpose of what you're trying to do within your business? Your emotions don't come from your business. Your emotions come from what you focus on in your business. It's what you focus on in your business. What happens, we take all the external things and we allow them to affect our emotion. If we focus on the big vision that actually gets us excited, then we're gonna stay excited, empowered, and enthusiastic. That is a massive lesson for all of us entrepreneurs to understand is that we can absolutely control the outcome of our business based on what we're focused on. High performers control their focus at the highest level. I want to encourage you all maybe to spend five, 10 minutes every single day just to focus in on why you decided to grow the company. Not the challenges associated with it, but why you decided it. See, the difference between average business owners and elite business owners is not the intelligence. It's not even the talent. It's not luck, it's focused control. And elite owners focus on revenue, lead generation, recruiting, training, systems, absolutely having great culture, a vision that it cannot be cracked. They work on personal growth and time management. They work on the future of their business. Average business owners just focus on all the problems, all the complaints. Is that resonating at all with anybody? Like, oh my God, you know, my business, oh geez, I got all these things going on, right? Um, I love this one busy work, right? Like we we get caught up in busy work, but are we productive? We get all bombarded with emails. I was just complaining the other day about the amount of emails that I get. And it's like, okay, how do I come up with a solution so I don't have to keep complaining and feeling down about having to go into my email because I get hundreds of them a day and 99% of them are junk. It's the small little problems, the small fires you got to put out, right? A lot of people, and I in my industry I have this a lot, being liked. Being liked is overrated. You know what? Being liked is like, oh, I really have to feel like everyone likes me. No one has to like you. You just have to be productive. Your people that you work with have to be empowered. You're building a great team, you're not gonna please everybody. So stop trying to be liked by everybody, right? Don't operate out of fear, operate out of comfort. Hey, don't don't sit there and go, I always want to be comfortable, but look at your vision and go, that's gonna be great when I actually get there, right? Don't have short-term thinking. Have long-term thinking. Things that don't matter. Does it really matter? Think about the things that you think you want to spend most of your time on and ask yourself this question: Does this really matter? Probably not. See, both of these fear, comfort, long-term, short-term thinking, both all of these um are kind of busy active work, but only one is building something really big. Only one of them can build something really big, and that's your focus. Here's a question everybody every business owner should ask themselves every single morning. What am I focusing on today that actually grows my business? Not what am I doing today? What meetings do I have? What problems do I feel I need to solve? What am I focusing on today that grows the business? See, guys, here's the thing. Because you don't grow a business by being busy, you grow a business by focusing on the right things repeatedly for years. You focus on hiring, on training, on lead generation, on marketing, on systems, on leadership. Are you practicing your leadership skills? Are you looking at yourself and saying, what can I do to improve? We're leading as business owners, we're we're in the people business, everyone. We're not in the if you're selling cars, if you're selling houses, if you're selling widgets, if you're selling roofs, if you're selling whatever it is you're selling, right? Shoes, clothes, it doesn't matter. If you're selling construction products, you're in the people business. You have to learn how to deal with people. You got to have a strong vision. You got to understand all your numbers in your company. That's the thing that frustrates me the most with the entrepreneurs that I work with. Nobody knows their numbers and really don't care, right? It's catastrophic. Unfortunately, everyone should know their numbers. Understand what your growth measurables are. If you do this for about five years, it your whole life will change. Five years. You're gonna be alive in five years anyway, hopefully. You might as well do something productive and then end up with a life that you're super proud of. So I want everyone to remember this your focus becomes your thoughts, and your thoughts become your decisions, and your decisions become your actions, and your actions become your business, and your business becomes your life. If your business isn't where you want it to be, don't start by changing your business. Start by changing your focus. Because at the end of the day, focus equals direction, and direction equals results, and results equals reality. Focus equals reality. Remember that. Your focus equals your outcome. If you're focusing on negative things, you're gonna get negative things in your life. If you're focusing on problems, you're gonna get problems in your life. If you're focusing on lead generation and that's all you care about, you're gonna have a heck of an amazing lead generation business. If you're focusing on being a great leader for your people, you're gonna have a great culture in your company. You don't get what you want, you get what you focus on. Are you guys understanding this? So if you're if and what I can ask of you is just look at your life. Write down all the things that you think that aren't working in the direction that you'd like it to go. And then ask yourself this question. Write it all down. How's my business? How's my life? How are my relationships? Write it all down. And then ask yourself, why is it that way? It's where in my life am I focusing on these things? I don't want to um, you know, be the dead horse here, okay? But I know a lot of people who focus on drama in their life, and guess all they have is drama. All have drama because drama is what drives them. Is drama driving you? Let me leave you with this because this is the hard truth that most people don't really want to hear. Most people believe their life, their business, their income, their stress, their success. It's all just a result of their circumstances. The market, the economy, interest rates, competition, employees, and all that that happens. Well, that's just for lucky people. But that's really not the truth. It's not the circumstances of your surroundings that determines your life, it's the way you think about your surroundings. Two business owners can be in the same city, the same economy, have the same interest rates, have the same competition, and the same exact problems. One builds a huge company and the other one barely survives. Which one are you gonna be? What's the difference? Their focus, their belief, their thinking, their perspective, what they choose to see, what they choose to ignore, and what they choose to work on. See, it's just it's it puts it puts everything on us, no nobody else. It does it takes away the focusing of the problems, it's only working on the solutions. It takes the fear, it takes the risk out, why things won't work, who's to blame, it takes all that away, right? If you're always working to grow, and you're typically not going to be comfortable all the time, right? You're always staying busy. Focus on the things that actually matters, focus on the opportunity and the growth and the hiring, focus on all the marketing machines and building people, building systems, focus on those things, long-term vision, becoming better. It's the same world, just different focus and a totally different reality. So if you remember anything from this podcast today, remember this you are not stuck because of your circumstances, you are stuck because of your focus. I love it because it doesn't put the finger on anybody else but on me. And you can change what you focus on and you can change how you think. When you change how you think, you change how you act. Puts it all on me. And when you change how you act, you change your business. And when you change your business, you change your friggin' life. The question isn't what's happening around me, the real question is what am I focusing on? Because at the end of the day, it's not your environment that determines your future, it's your mindset inside that environment. Focus equals reality. Focus equals your reality. Guys, I want to say this to you. When doing these notes and really focusing it on today's topic, what I learned a lot for myself was this I'm in control of my business, and my vision is what keeps me moving. And within the things inside my business that are not going to go the way I want them to, I have to keep everything, all the emotions between the line and stay focused on the end result, regardless of some challenges that I might have. How I react to those challenges determines how quickly and how fast I get there, or if I get there at all. It's not the challenge that is what stops me. It's how I look at the situation. So if I can change the way I look at my situation, my business ultimately will be there. So here's a question for you before we go. Look at your business and ask yourself this question where is it not going right? And then where in this can I make a change? Because you are at fault. You are at fault for your lack of everything that you don't have. I know that might bother some people, and I'm sorry that it does. At the same time, I don't really care that it does because my job is to snap you from where you are thinking today to where you actually want to take your business. So if you have the strength, the grit, and the desire, all things are possible. But if you if excuses are the ones that come into your life first, then probably not going to achieve the things you're going to achieve. I want to thank everybody for spending time with me today on this podcast.
