Fierce Mama Fitcast
The Fierce Mama Fitcast isn’t just another podcast — it’s a movement, and you’re part of it. Here, we’re all about helping you feel strong in your body and loud in your life, without chasing perfection. I’m Mel Duettchen, founder of the Fierce Mama Collective and a mom who got in the best shape of her life after kids — and I’m here to help you do the same, in a way that fits your real life.
Inside each episode, you’ll get no-BS tools you can actually use, real talk about fitness, food, and feeling good, and unfiltered stories from the messy, beautiful chaos of motherhood. Whether you’re listening on a walk, hiding in the pantry, or squeezing it in between drop-offs, know this: you’re not alone here. You’re part of a community that sees you, supports you, and celebrates you — every step, every win, no matter how big or small. Let’s do this together.

Episode 25 -Motherhood, Loss & Finding My Strength
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This episode picks up with my move to Canada, becoming a mom far from home, and the emotional and physical reality of postpartum life.
I talk about isolation, finding community through mommy-baby classes, and the small moments that helped me survive a very hard season. I also share losing my father to alcoholism between my two pregnancies, returning to Germany to handle his affairs, and how that loss shaped my relationship with alcohol, boundaries, and parenting.
This chapter is where fitness quietly enters my life — first as a coping mechanism, then as something deeper. It’s the beginning of strength, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally… and the path that eventually led me to coaching.
