Ben Hitchen
Ben grew up in Henley-on-Thames and has been on the water from a young age, starting his first job at 17 skippering river boats on the Thames during summer holidays. Balancing school and later university with seasonal roles afloat, he quickly realised that working on and around boats was far more than a pastime and had become a genuine passion.
With a sailing-obsessed father, Ben was immersed in yachting early on, from cruising in the Mediterranean to exploring the Scottish coast, as well as racing in events such as Cowes Week, the Round the Island Race and local Solent regattas.
After completing his degree, he moved into yacht sales, working between the Thames and Chichester before relocating permanently to the South Coast. Now part of Berthon and Berthon Essential, Ben brings enthusiasm, hands-on experience and a genuine passion for helping clients find the right yacht, guiding them through every stage of the buying and selling process.
