Pause and Take a Moment
The day can feel crowded before your feet even touch the floor. We’ve been there—mind racing, anxiety, and a to-do list that arrives before the sun. Today we share a quiet counter-move: a small, deliberate pause that redirects the moment. Drawing from Isaiah 26:3, we talk about fixing our thoughts on God and why that simple shift delivers calm in the middle of a busy day. This isn’t about perfect routines. It’s about presence over pressure.
If your mornings feel like a sprint, consider this an invitation to change the pace. Stop, pause, take a moment, and consider that Jesus is our peace. Try one practice: breathe, read one verse, sing a song of praise, recite a scripture, or have a conversation with God. Let peace lead productivity, not the other way around. If this conversation lifted your heart, help us reach more women looking for biblical encouragement and practical tools—subscribe, share with a friend, and text the show to tell us what practice you’ll try tomorrow.

When you wake up in the morning thinking of all the things you need to do and how you're going to do it within your time frame, it's important to stop, pause, and take a moment. You're listening to Whole Heart Conversations, a podcast especially for women, to receive biblical encouragement that fosters resilience through the practical application of God's Word. I am your host, Constance Lavonice. One morning this past week, I woke up in the morning thinking about all of the things that I needed to do that day. I needed to read the chronological Bible that we're reading as a church this year. I also have my own personal Bible study that I'm reading. I was thinking about work. I was thinking about what I needed to do after work. And the more I kept thinking about it, I started to get anxious. My husband asked me if I wanted to have quiet time. And quiet time is something that we do together or alone. We read our Bibles and we sit and meditate and then talk about what we sense God is saying to us through his word. But that morning, my mind was just busy. I had a whole mental list of things that I needed to do. And I only had a limited time frame to get this done. And I just didn't feel like having quiet time with my husband that day. I wanted to have quiet time, but I wanted to do it by myself so I can control my time. But what I noticed was I did have quiet time with my husband. And within about five minutes of reading the Bible, I noticed that I was calmer and I had a more productive day. So the encouragement for you this week can be found in Isaiah chapter 26, verse 3. You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you. And the you is God. God will keep us in perfect peace when our minds are on Him. And it seems contrary to what you should do, especially when we wake up and we have a list of things that we need to do and we're just thinking about the busyness of our day. But God rested on the seventh day as an example to us that we also need rest. Physical rest, mental rest, it's important for us to take time to rest. When your mind is running before your feet hit the floor, stop, pause, take a moment, and consider that Jesus is our peace. Isaiah says that he's our prince of peace. And as we keep our mind on Jesus, we are able to experience that peace. How do we experience his peace? The first thing is we start to have an awareness of God's presence. And if you're saved and if you have the Holy Spirit within you, if you're saved, you have his spirit within you, you're already in his presence. So as we go throughout our day, keep that awareness that Jesus is present with us. He's in us. Another thing you can do to experience God's peace is read the Bible. And I try to read the Bible each morning. Some mornings I don't. And you might say, well, I'm too busy. It's too busy. I don't have time to read the Bible. But make some time. Take a moment. We can always take a moment. It doesn't have to be long. It can be one passage. It can even be a verse. But take a moment at some point in your day to read the Bible. I suggest you do it in the morning, but whenever you have time, read the Bible. And as you read the Bible, you'll experience God's peace. Talk to God. You can talk to God at any time. In the morning, when you're brushing your teeth, you know, before you start to brush your teeth, talk to God. When you're in the car driving, talk to God. If you have to drive to work and you're driving a distance, talk to God. I talk to God when I get in the car. Thank you, God, for being with me. God protect me, help me to get safely to and from my destination. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for saving me. Just talk to God. And as you talk to God, you'll start to experience his presence. Praise him. Sing to him. Praise him. Sing a song. As you're driving, as you're walking, as you're holding your baby or talking to your children. Praise God. Think of some praise music, one of your favorite songs that you like, and sing it sometimes. Take a moment. You're never too busy to take a moment. The next thing you can do is memorize scriptures. Take a moment. Find a verse that you find encouraging to you. Look in the Bible. If you don't know where to start, look in the book of John or just Google whatever it is that you're needing. Google it and find a Bible verse and try to remember it. Memorize it. And as you focus on that verse, then you're giving yourself a break and you're able to sense God's presence. It's okay to take a moment. We need to take moments. And it's okay to just stop and pause. That's a practical strategy when you find yourself overwhelmed. You don't have to push through your day. You can walk through it in peace. And if this message was helpful, please subscribe and share, and text the show to let me know what's on your heart.
